Chapter 3 How Could She

Damien POV

The aroma of coffee filled the air. If I had an addiction, it is coffee. I inhaled the scent with my eyes shut letting out a harsh exhale. Skye is pouring me a cup with a 'let's talk' look on her face. She's very caring and hospitable. Her hazel eyes always have a softness to them. Her long wavy chestnut brown hair drapes around her shoulders with a smile that warms your heart always giving a welcoming comfort. She was like a big sister.

I sipped my coffee "I know you want to talk so go ahead." I grinned.

"Alright Damien. Tell me what's going on." She let her caramel coffee fill her nose as she waited for me to speak.

"Let me take juice to Idalia first. I'll be right back." I shuffled back down the hall to the nursery they call it. Idalia's eyes just sparkle when she looks up at me and Aaron is fast asleep. "Here sweetheart." I handed her the juice. "Looks like your brother was still tired." I grinned and she laughed.

I returned to the kitchen and bluntly said "Samantha left us." I sipped more coffee trying not to choke on my pain.

"What?! Why would she do that?! Skye exclaimed. I huffed "She found her mate." My heart breaking more as it left my lips. "I know she isn't my mate, but we have a family together. She turned her back on us without hesitation." I released a low growl "Our babies! Her babies! HER BABIES!" trying not to shout but my anger only rose. My eyes flashed black I could feel Titan, my wolf, trying to come out "How could she just leave her children?! What mother can do that?!"

I am not the only one she hurt. Titan loved Siren and he was angry and hurting too. Titan is furious with what they have done to their family. It's taken everything I have to keep him from chasing after her. If it wasn't for her rare breed, we would track her down, but we can't.

"I'm so sorry Damien. You know we are all here for you and your children. We are all a family" Skye sweetly smiles calming me slowly. "I know you are. That's why we came here. The kids are happy here and I know they're safe." I finish my coffee. "Can you stay with them? I have work to do."

She gives me a reassuring smile. "Of course, I can. I'll do something fun with them. Don't worry about anything."

I mind link the warriors to gather for the day's assignments. I have got to get my mind off of her.

Once we are all gathered on the field, I line everyone up by ability. Not age. Not size.

"We're doing one on one combat today." I explain coldly. I am not in the mood for bullshit. I need to let off some steam. Something appeals to me while in thought.

"Who would like to challenge me?" I wickedly grin.
