Chapter 7 Completely Devoured

Agatha pulled Adam inside the narrowed alleyway. The space was so small, and it could only occupy two people simultaneously.

Blinking swiftly, Adam looked at the woman in front of him.

She was stunning.

Black long hair, pale white skin, round eyes with long lashes, and red lips.

No wonder why a billionaire like Brett chose Agatha as his slave.

'Did he have fun with this lady? How much did he go?' Adam wondered. His eyes traced her body.

Her luscious lips.

Her deep collarbone.

Her white neck.

Her slender shoulder.

When his eyes went more down, he saw her bust. He didn't notice it when they met for the first time, but now, Adam could tell that she had a good body. A body that can make a man kneel on her feet.

Adam felt his blood boil.

He slept with many women before, but hiding in a narrow alleyway felt so sexy to Adam. Maybe because he loves the rush of adrenaline.

He slowly moved his waist backward to avoid letting Agatha know he was getting a b*ner.

Adam took a deep breath as he calmed himself.

'Sh*t. Adam. You can't feel lust over a woman that you sold,' Adam told himself.

Fortunately, the conversation he heard from Agatha's friends helped him forget the lewd things inside his mind.

After hearing the conversation, Adam understood why Agatha wanted to flee.

Then, subconsciously, Adam covered Agatha's ears with his hands.

Agatha looked up and met his gaze.

Adam was shocked.

'What am I doing? Why do I look like I was protecting her?'

He was panicking.

Adam could not understand why he had to show compassion toward a woman he sold for money.

Perhaps, because she looked like she was on the verge of crying.

They stayed in that position, both confused.

Adam felt the heat all over his body, and his breath formed clouds. Every time Agatha breathed, Adam could feel her soft breast touching his chest. It made him mentally and physically panic, for he's a young-blooded man. But he could not let her go. During this time, he just wanted to stay in the position, staring at her and covering her ears.

But when Sebastian and Dominic left, Adam woke up and quickly pulled back his hands.

He was thankful that he pulled himself back. But he didn't know that his face was all red.

Fortunately, Agatha's eyes didn't trace his face, but on the burn scar on his chest.

Adam noticed what she was looking at.

He bowed his head and stared at the scar on his chest, seen through his shirt's three buttons and open collar.

He wanted to stop her from looking but realized that it was too late to hide it.

"Are you curious where I got that scar?" he tried to break the ice by asking.

Agatha turned her eyes to the other side. She didn't reply.

Trying to regain his pride, Adam said in a confident tone.

"Well, I am working in the underground business. It is natural for me to get scars like this."

"Were you abused before?"

At Agatha's question, the smile on Adam's lips disappeared.

Agatha kept her eyes away and muttered, "I know it is a cigarette burn. You didn't get it from a fight but someone who abused you. Given that the scar looks old."

Adam hadn't told his story to anyone yet.

But this woman, who saw the scar first, could understand him at first glance.

'However, I don't need pity,' Adam thought.

A sneaky smirk played on his red lips before he uttered, "Now that you found out my weakness, are you thinking how pitiful I am and that you finally understand why I became a twisted man like this?"

With a frown, Agatha answered, "No."

She met his gaze once more.

"Why would I pity an evil man like you? You sold me to Brett. You threatened my life. That was enough for me to hate you to the bone."

Adam's eyes widened.

Even if Agatha cursed him, he prepared to hear these words rather than empty empathy.

When his eyes returned to their original sizes, Adam whispered, "Then, why do you need to bring that up and ask about my wound?"

"Just..." Agatha mumbled. "I just remembered someone who has the same scar."

Adam saw the pain in Agatha's eyes, even though she tried her best to look fine.

And momentarily, he felt jealous of that other person who received Agatha's pity.

"I have much pride," Agatha said, "But I have to admit that I owe you for helping me. However, my grudge against you made it hard to say the right words. Even so..."

Slowly, Agatha raised her hands and covered Adam's ears.

She imitated him.

When her hands touched his ears, Adam's heart skipped a beat.

He stared into her eyes, wondering what she wanted to express. Then, he read the words forming in her mouth.

["Thank you."]

Adam didn't hear her voice. But he was so sure that Agatha thanked him.

The lady pulled back her hands and started to walk out of the narrow alley.

She stopped walking, but she kept her back against Adam. Then she spoke.

"I owe you one, but I hope we will not see each other again, Mr. Adam."

Then, she walked away.

Adam watched her back until she faded into nothingness.

Alone in the alleyway, Adam could smell Agatha's scent.

Sweet and alluring.

"I used to devour her," Adam said, looking at his fist.

A smile slipped out of his red lips.

"But now, it felt like she was the one who devoured me," he whispered while clenching his fist.

Adam's chest throbbed.

If it was his scar or his heart, he wasn't sure. But he knew this one thing – he wanted to meet Agatha again someday, even if that was only a coincidence.
