"Ok, you can open your eyes now?" Ace said, putting Abena down. "What? Just now? Did you fly?" Abena said taking off her blindfold. "I told you I was a fast climber," Ace winked and Abena laughed. "Ok let's go inside now," Ace said stretching out his arm. Abena said at his arm and back at him. "Oh sorry," Ace smiled but Abena quickly grabbed his arm before he could drop it. "Why can't I hold your hand if I've been able to hug you?" Abena smiled. The two of them walked hand in hand to the cafeteria to grab their lunches since it was already time.
"Ace!'' Skylar yelled storming towards the two who just walked into the cafeteria. "Oh Skylar, it's good you....." "You asshole," Skylar said punching his abdomen. Ace fell onto his knees and groaned in pain but before the pain could subside, another blow landed an his cheek. "I'll kill you," he said strangling Ace. "Skylar stop it!" Abena who couldn't stand this anymore jumped to Ace's rescue. "Stay out of this," Skylar growled shoving her aside. "Skylar What are you doing?"Ace said, struggling to breath. "I'm going to kill you Ace," Skylar said burning with rage. He threw Ace across the room. Ace landed on a nearby pillar and fell flatly on the floor but before he could hit him again, Abena was in the middle of them. Skylar's fist paused mid air whiles his eyes locked with his mate."You were about to hit mate?"Luca asked standing on his paws.Skylar's eyes widened in shock for a split second before he slowly lowered his arm. "I...." he felt his cheek sting before he could finish his sentence. There was a huge gasp from the crowd and the room was suddenly filled with murmurs. Skylar looked at Abena with shock registered all over his face but she showed no remorse. "I've had enough of you. I've just had enough! I kept asking myself back in the room why I allowed you to do that to me. You locked me up in the room like some kind of an animal but not anymore. Not anymore Skylar. NOT. ANY.MORE. I didn't come to this school because of you or anyone else. I have rights just like anyone else and I won't stand idle for anyone to trample on those rights so just get that into that coconut head of yours," Abena yelled at Skylar angrily before going to help Ace. "And before you think of ever coming close to me just remember : Where I come from, we never give up. We always fight for what we believe is our right." Saying this, Abena walked away with Ace. Back in the class room, Irene tapped Dave's shoulder lightly to wake him up from his sleep. "Shoot, I can't believe I slept off," Dave said rubbing his eyes. "Irene you're back," Dave smiled. "I'm sorry I put you through so much trouble. I was just worried about....." "Your friend. I know," Dave smiled. "And injecting me with the bane wasn't cool at all," Irene said faking an angry tone. "Sorry but you left me with no choice," Dave shrugged. "Where is Abena? Did Skylar let her out? Is she alright? She didn't hurt herself did she? Where is she? Where's Skylar too?" She fires Dave with questions. "Hey hey hey relax," Dave chuckled, leading her outside. "First of all I don't know if Skylar let her out or not. Secondly I don't know where they are so let's find them." "Ok where do you think we should start looking? Irene asked. "Your room of course, that's where he took her," Dave replied. "Yeah. Foolish me," Irene chuckled. The two continued walking in a comfortable silence until Irene spotted Abena walking towards them with Ace. "Abena!" Irene said happily, running towards her friend but Abena stared at her coldly like she had just seen a stranger. "A....are you alright? Skylar didn't hurt you, did he?" Irene asked concerned. "There's no need for all of this, you know?" Abena said shocking Irene to the core. "What.....what.....what do you mean?" Irene stammered. "You don't have to pretend anymore Irene. Everything is crystal clear to me now. "I don't understand you please make yourself clear." "You shouldn't have pretended to like me and wanted me as your friend. You could've just told me you didn't like me when we first met." "Abena it's not what you are thinking." "Then what is it?" Abena questioned angrily. "You could've stood up for me when Skylar was doing all to me but you didn't. You even opened the door for him to push me in there and lock me up." "Abena let me explain please," "There's nothing to explain. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go, my friend here needs help." Abena said referring to Ace as her friend before walking past them. "What just happened?" The guy who was with Irene asked but Abena pretended not to hear them. "You shouldn't have spoken to your friend like that," Ace told Abena as they walked to the sick bay.
"Why?" "You should have listened to her first," Ace said sitting on the bed. "Let's talk about that later, let the nurse attend to your wounds first," Abena said making way for the nurse. Skylar stormed out of the school ignoring Dave's calls. He put on his helmet and started his bike. It's a good thing he decided to use his bike today instead of the car. He drove in circles on the compound for several minutes before riding out of the school leaving a thick cloud of dust behind. Why was Ace doing all that? Was he acting all weak and vulnerable just to gain her affection? He could have defended himself so why did he choose to get beaten? Did he have any motive behind what he was doing? Maybe he was just trying to get on Skylar's nerve as usual. "You should tell him to stay away from our mate," Luca told him. "Yes you're right. If I tell him he might back off because he's one of us and he knows how the mate bond works.," Skylar said. "For once you actually listened to me. I wish it would continue like this always," Luca teased. "In you dreams animal," Skylar scoffed. "Offensive," Luca scoffed. Skylar ignored him and turned his bike around to drive back to the school. He needed to have a man to man talk with Ace as soon as possible.
