Chapter 7 07

"Thanks for taking care of me," Ace told Abena as they walked out of the sick bay. "Well you stood up for me a couple of times today so I owe you that," Abena smiled. The two of them walked in a comfortable silence for a while until Abena spoke. "This isn't the way I wanted my first day to be, you know?" Abena sighed. "Yeah, nobody wants their day like this and things don't yo the way we usually plan them to be but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try again," Ace said with a warm smile. "You're right but that won't stop me from enjoying my day tomorrow," Abena smiled.

School was already over so Ace walked Abena to her room. The door was unlocked when theygot there so Ace assumed her roommate has already come. "Ok, so I'll take my leave now," He said but Abena insisted he came in and he did eventually. "Where's your roommate?" Ace asked his eyes scanning the room. "I don't know, not back yet?"Abena shrugged walking to the kitchen. "Ace should I offer you something?"she asked from the kitchen but before he could answer,Irene walked in. "What are you doing here?"She asked, glaring at him." I know what you're trying to Ace and it's not going to work so stay away from my friends,"Irene warned. "What's wrong with you and Skylar?"Abena's voice startled Irene. "A.....Abena you're here. I've been looking all over for you," Irene said turning to look at her roommate. "Why? So that you and Skylar can embarrass me more?" Abena questioned. "We need to talk," Irene said throwing her bag and books on her bed. "About What?" Abena asked. "Seriously? In front of him?" Irene questioned back, glaring at Skylar. "Do you have a problem with that?" Abena asked. "Seriously Abena...." "I was about to leave anyway so you two don't need to worry," Ace said picking his bag from the floor. "You better get going." Irene replied. "Yes I was about to even leave before you walked in," Ace replies. "Don't worry Ace, you can stay. I'm sure what she has to say isn't that important," Abena replied making Irene feel bad. What did she mean by that? Did she even know who Ace was? Why has she suddenly become so attached to him? She must end all this before it gets out of hand. "No Abena, I mustn't interfere in your personal matters so I'll leave now. See you tomorrow in school," Ace waves and left. "Now speak!" Abena said folding her arms across her chest as soon as Ace left. "Look, this is just a little misunderstanding we're having and I think we shouldn't let it get out of hand. If we can't talk this out as roommates what shows we can solve any other problem we face in future," Irene said making Abena feel guilty for lashing out at her earlier. "I'm sorry," Abena pulled Irene into a hug so that Irene wouldn't see the tears in her eyes. "It's just that a lot has happened today and I was not thinking straight. I don't know the reason why Skylar would do that to someone he just saw today. I'm so sorry Irene, just to take whatever I said to heart," Abena spoke whiles Irene remained silent. Her friend has gone through a lot on her first day and she really need to let it out so that was her only way of helping. Abena released Irene from the hug and fell backwards on her bed, whiles letting out a deep breath. Irene sighed and joined her friend and they all stayed silent for a while. "Don't feel bad. I totally understand you and I must say I'm impressed with the way you handled Skylar at the cafeteria. You know nobody has ever stood up to him before right?" Irene said making Abena frown. "What do you mean?" Abena asked and sat up, an unknown shiver running down her spine. "What I mean is that he's the son of the owner of the school so he does whatever he wants and nobody dares to say a word but you broke the record and I'm so proud of you," Irene squealed at the end of her sentence. "What?! Why are you proud of me? That means I'm in trouble because he's going to make my life more miserable," Abena said making Irene laugh. "Don't worry we'll be fine and if tries to pick on you again, you'll have me by your side," Irene smiled. Outside the school, Skylar day with Dave under on one benches under the trees waiting patiently for Ace. Soon they heard someone whistling to an unknown song and Ace appeared. "Great! He's here now," Dave said tapping Skylar's shoulder. They quickly got up from their seats and walked over to Ace who was about to put on his helmet. "What? Here to beat me up again?" Ace chuckled. "I can see your beta tagged along too," he smirked, his eyes fixed on Dave. "We're not here to fight Ace, we want to talk," Dave replied instead of Skylar. "Talk?About What? "Ace questioned with a smirk. "My mate," Skylar answered immediately. "Your mate? You found your mate? Your second mate?" Ace asked with a surprised look he was obviously faking. "Don't try to fool me with that look," Skylar growled, holding Ace by his collar. "I thought you guys were here to talk," Ace smirked directing his question to Dave. "Skylar let go of him," Dave said to Skylar for about three times before Skylar released him. "Now Ace we would like you to come to the pack house so...." "Fuck off! I disowned that pack and everything that had to do with it twenty five years ago so I don't see the reason why I should go there," Ace said angrily. "It's just for a couple of minutes..." "I don't to step there for even a second," Ace replied, putting his helmet on. "Get out of my way, I want to leave." Ace said roaring the engine of his bike to life. "I said move! Else I'll run you over," He threatened but just when he was about to move,a familiar voice called from behind. Abena waved at him whiles walking towards him. "You left your phone," she said handing the phone over to him. "So you came all the way down the EIGHTH floor just to bring ME back MY PHONE?" Ace said fixing his eyes on Skylar whiles emphasizing on the words, eighth, me and my phone. "Yes, why wouldn't I? You're my friend and....." "You two are not friends," Skylar who couldn't stand it anymore yelled. "Did you hear someone speak?" Abena asked Ace with a sarcastic frown. "I spoke," Skylar said and grabbed her arm harshly before she could speak. "Leave me alone Skylar," Abena warmed. "Or else?" Skylar asked in a challenging tone. Suddenly he felt her teeth sink into his skin and he let go of her immediately, not because it hurts but because of shock. He was shocked to see how far his mate would go to defend Ace. "Did you just bite me?" "Yes and I'll tear a chunk of your flesh the next time you touch me," Abena said before walking away. "Wow, that was actually very entertaining to see don't you think?" Ace said with a chuckle when Abena was out of sight. "Let's go Dave,"Skylar said and began walking away with Dave behind him. "Oh..... you don't want to talk anymore?" Ace laughed before riding away.
