Chapter 9 09

"After what happened today, I'm hundred percent convinced Abena is fit to be Luna of our pack," Dave said after he had followed Skylar to the changing room after the classroom incident. "I love the way she stood up for herself and put Danielle in her place," Dave added with a smile making Skylar frown.

"You did the right thing by taking Abena's side, you know," Dave added after receiving no response from Skylar.

"I just acted on impulse, I didn't even want to get between them," Skylar replied.

"I say it was the mate bond you two share," Dave said earning a glare from Skylar.

"No matter how hard you try to run away from it, the truth will always be the truth," Dave shrugged.

"I'm not running away from anything Dave. I want this as much as my wolf wants it but I need to protect an innocent girl," Skylar sighed.

"Yes. She need to protect her by accepting her," Dave replied moving to sit beside his friend. "They'll find out immediately I accept her and what happened years ago will repeat itself. What will I do? How am I going to face the fact that an innocent human lost her life because of me? She's alien to this place and her family will be waiting for her back home," Skylar said running his fingers through his hair.

"Yes that's all true but I also think this is the time for you to prove to yourself that you deserve a second chance in this life. Accept her and then do whatever you can to love and protect her," Dave said to his friend who just chuckled.

"I couldn't even protect a wolf just like me so how can I protect a fragile human?"

"You'll never find out until you give yourself a chance," Dave said and just then the bell chimed for change lesson.

"Great, I missed the first lesson," Dave groaned walking away immediately. Back in the class, Ace who just got to school overheard a group of students talking about a fight between the new student and Danielle so he quickly had to find Abena to make sure she was fine.

"I heard what happened this morning, are you hurt?" Ace who was late for class asked immediately he walked in.

"Yes I'm fine," Abena smiled and Ace nodded. "Sorry I wasn't there to support you," he said scratching his hair.

"It's ok. I stood up for myself and Skylar also..." "Skylar was here?" Ace asked as a frown formed on his face.

"Yes, he stopped Danielle from hitting me," Abena nodded.

"Danielle tried to hit you?" Ace said through clenched jaws.

"Yes-- but Skylar stopped her and you should have seen the look on her face," Abena giggled not noticing the deep frown Ace had.

Danielle walked into the changing room just when Skylar was about to leave. Skylar groaned and run his fingers through his hair whiles staring at the angry girl in front of him.

"What was the meaning of what you did?"Danielle asked angrily.

"Do you have any idea what that meant? You chose an ordinary human over me , Skylar," Danielle said taking a step forward.

"She's no ordinary human Danny," Skylar said making Danielle's jaw dropped.

"What? What do you mean?"

"She's no ordinary human, that's all you need to know," Skylar said and walked away.

"Skylar! Come back here! We're not done talking!" Danielle yelled running after him but he ignored her and kept walking away.

"Ahhhhh!!!!!" Danielle yelled angrily kicking a trash can beside her. What has gotten into Skylar? This isn't the Skylar she left behind some days ago. The one she left would have definitely taken her side in this situation even though she was wrong. So what's with this sudden change in attitude? Still trying to figure things out, Danielle decided to use the washroom. Turning around, she took the left turn where the ladies washroom was when she bumped into somebody.

"Are you blind?" She asked angrily glaring at the person.

"Hey Danielle, it's good to have you back." The other person said with a casual smile.

"I heard what happened in class this morning and I must admit; I feel pretty bad for you," He said the smile never fading.

"I'm not in the mood for you right now, else I would have put you in your place," Danielle said in a threatening tone.

"Just like that new student put you in your class put you in your place?" The guy laughed.

"I don't want to talk to you why don't you understand?" Danielle yelled.

"I have an information that'll be very useful to you but since you don't want to talk to me, that's cool, I'll leave." He shrugged and turned to leave.

"Wait!" Danielle was quick to stop him.

"What do you have to tell me?" Danielle asked, leaning on the wall.

"You know I don't give informations for free," The guy winked making Danielle roll her eyes. "Fine, meet me at our usual place tonight and make sure it's tangible information you're bringing," Danielle warned.

"You're always in a haste but don't worry, I'll see you evening," he winked and left. The day passed swiftly and soon it was closing. Abena was glad she didn't see either Danielle or Skylar throughout the day. She picked up her bag and was about to walked out when Ace stopped her. "Can I talk to you?"Ace asked with a raised brow. "Sure, why not?" Abena smiled giving him all her attention.

"My friends and I are throwing a party this evening and I was wondering if you could come," Ace said running his fingers through his hair.

"This is my third day here and you already want me to start partying?" Abena asked.

"No. That's not what I meant. I...."

"Don't worry Ace, I'll be glad to attend your party since you'll be there too."

"Really? You would really attend the party?" "Yeah." Abena nodded.

" I'll feel safe with you around," Abena smiled. "Ok, so I'll be picking you up at 7:30pm," Ace said waving at Abena.

"Ok, bye." Abena waved back and the two parted ways.

"What?!" Irene could not believe what her roommate was telling her gasped in shock

. "Yes. That was so nice of him," Abena smiled. "No what I mean is-- what the hell were you thinking when you agreed to go to that party with him. Do you have any idea what you're getting yourself into?" Irene said but Abena only smiled.

"Relax there's no need to worry. Ace will be with me all night so there's nothing to worry about," Abena told her.

"Nothing to worry about? You're going to be alone with Ace all night and you're telling me not to worry?"

"Yes Irene you're behaving as if Ace is a monster. He's a very nice person and I don't see any harm in agreeing to go to a party with him. Now if you'll excuse me I need some siesta," Abena rolled her eyes and covered herself with her blanket. Without a word, Irene left the room but Abena didn't bother to ask where her roommate was off to. All she could think about at the moment was her first party with Ace.
