Chapter 5 I miss Andan

"Good morning Mami " Mich greeted before walking to the toilet.

Mami looked at her with a worried look ...her eyes were swollen as if she cried her eyes out last night.

When she walked back out...Mami called for her and she happily walked towards her.

"You heard what I discussed with your mom yesterday right?" Mami asked and Mich was a kid who has vowed never to lie.

"Am sorry Mami but I heard it loud and clear" She said expecting her grandma to scold her for listening to adults discuss.

"Am glad you heard it, in the future you should know what to do...let no man come so close to you without him marrying you"Mami said and Mich promised her to follow her wish.

"Mami I also heard you talking about watching the news on the tv, why don't we have One?" Mich asked curiously...

"There is one somewhere around...I had just kept it since there was no one to watch it, but if you want I could call someone to install it for you" Mami explained causing Mich to jump in excitement.

"Yay...Mami do that now, today" She said happily and Mami nodded.

Paco sat in his wine bar ...he already had more than 3 shots, and he was not happy..he had the money and everything but love was impossible, he had thought before that he will one day fall in love with Maddy thereby making life easy for him, but his heart was not hers it was so far from her.

A curvy lady with black hair walked towards him.

"Brother...why are you feeling this depressed?" Mary asked worriedly...Maddy had confided in her about her brother's behavior....so she decided to talk to him.

"How are you doing?" Paco asked Mary, she lived in her apartment a few meters from here...she had finished college and started working in her brother's company..so her life was great, but she did not tell her brother about Andan being pregnant....she decided to carry the secret to her grave because everything they had now was thanks to Maddy and she was not going to let Andan ruin it.

"Am fine but am worried about you, confide your problems with me" She pleaded.

"I miss Andan so much...I wonder how she is right now, I think am beginning to regret my decision" He said sadly making Mary frown.

"Paco you're married with a kid, you thinking and missing another lady is so unfair to Maddy ...you had chosen to marry her and of course, it was not a wrong decision because she is a kind and caring lady ...so forget about Andan "Mary dropped the long speech on Paco who just nodded.

"Am here for the family interview organized by the press..you wouldn't want to appear messy on camera so better go freshen up" Mary said and he nodded before walking upstairs to his room.

"This has been his dream all along and now that he fulfill it he is regretting?" Mary scoffed while watching her brother's back disappear.

Paco entered his room and saw Maddy still asleep...he walked inside the bathroom to freshen up.

He was already naked under the shower when Maddy walked in, she was getting frustrated with him always ignoring her.

"Am almost done, you can take over " Paco said while putting a towel around his waist.

"Paco, did I do anything to offend you? " Maddy asked with tears threatening to fall down her cheeks.

"What are you talking about?" Paco asked still ignoring her.

"You know what am talking about Paco ...I have been trying to understand you all this while, and you don't even want to touch me," Maddy said in tears. ...she has been holding up all these years.

"Maddy I just got busy at work," Paco said.

"You don't work under anyone... it is your company, so you can decide when to go to work and when not to. ...you have become a work addict " Maddy scolded angrily.

"Am sorry" He said trying to approach her...he knows he has been down since he got married, but Maddy is a kind and caring lady, why does he have to hurt her?

"You're sorry? Is that all you have to tell me?" She sneered angrily.

"Maddy I respect you a lot and am sorry for hurting you," Paco said in a calm tone.

"Respect? Is that all you feel for me? Just respect" Maddy hissed at him...he knows that's exactly what he feels but he won't want to hurt her...he has tried and is still trying to love her ...she was everything a man will ever wish for, his heart was just not able to accept her ...but he has decided to give it one more try.

He walked towards her and pulled her by the waist.

"I love you, Maddy," He said before pressing his lips on hers.

Maddy just didn't feel the sincerity in his words, but she decided to be strong for the love she has for him.

Mich was in the kitchen with her Mami while the TV was been installed.

Her Mami was making her special recipe of Sardines.

"Mami how do you cook these sardines? It's even better than what they sell out" Mich asked curiously.

"It was my mom's recipe..., she had discovered it on her own ..so it's a secret recipe," Mami said making Mich to be curious.

"Can you teach me how to do it?" Mich asked and Mami smiled.

"It's an easy but complicated recipe...you have always been watching me make it, so I will explain the steps to you," Mami said and Mich nodded before walking away and returning with a notebook and ball pen.

"Let's start chef," She said jokingly and Mami explained everything carefully to the little chef who understood everything perfectly.

After some hours of learning and eating the Iana family sat in their little dining to try the TV.

"Mami is so happy" Mich beamed with joy when the TV came on.

She kept changing channels while her mom and Mami discussed some more casual stuff.

"It's always important to watch the news Michel... to know about the economy of your country," Mami said causing Mich to pout angrily but she still followed her grandma's orders.

All that could be seen on the channel where se journalists running and following a particular car.

She stood up to leave when she saw her mom drop the plate she had with all her attention on the tv.

Paco walked down to his car with his wife, Kid, and sister.

He was the youngest successful CEO known in Dela Costa and many more places.

"Mr. Dempsey we are happy to have you and your family here," A journalist said while they were all adjusted for the interview to get over soon.

Mary dressed in a top designer outfit...she even glowed more than Maddy herself...a lot of makeup and jewelry and she had the brightest smile ever.

"Mrs. Dempsey, how is your married life?" A journalist asked causing Maddy to give them a fake smile.

"It's perfect...I have the best husband and son, so I couldn't ask for more" Maddy said while staring at Paco who smiled at her.

"You guys are like the best couple and people feel like it's a competition against the Korina couple...they already have a son and are expecting one soon again..when should we be expecting another baby?"

"Love is not a competition...the love I have for my wife can't be measured ..so there is no competition," Paco said before giving Maddy a satisfying smile.

"And besides we are quite better than the Korina family so why do we need to compete?" Mary asked with a smirk.

"Mami" Andan called while shivering and pointing at the TV.

Mich was confused as to why her mom behaved that way on seeing the news ...she placed all her attention on the TV and all she could see was a happy family having an interview.

"Paco...Mary, it's them" Andan said while finding it difficult to breath.

Mich knew her dad's name so she was shocked to find out her dad was the one sitting there all rich with a wife and kid.

"Ahh" Mami screamed while holding her chest.

"Mami" Andan ran towards her grandma who was slowly falling to the ground.

Mami was finding it difficult to breathe...she slowly closed her eyes and stopped moving.

"Call the doctor" Andan yelled at Mich who immediately ran out of the house in tears.

"Mami wake up please" Andan kept shaking her but she was not bulging.

Mich stood by the side of her mom while the community doctor examined Mami ...she was in tears.

"Mom is she going to be ok?" She asked scared...Andan herself was dazzled, she was so scared and the pain from seeing Paco and Mary doing well in Dela Costa and he has a wife and kid.

"Miss Iana ...she had a strong attack, she is dead, " The doctor said in pain...Mami was the treasure of the whole community, her dead is like a sorrowful pain to the whole community

"No oo...Mami " Mich cried out...her heart hurt a lot, she has never felt this type of pain before.

"What are you saying? Please check on her again...she was doing fine just now" Andan said while trembling in fear and pain ...this was the only family she knew ever since she was born ...this can't be happening.
