Chapter 3 The jar

Emily continued cooking in the kitchen without knowing what was going on in the living room because her Aunt Eliza and her daughter Linda did everything they could to make sure that she did not find a fiancée like the one who was at their home who had the financial means, eventually the guests left without seeing Emily being told that she was not home but the poor girl was in the kitchen but only the tricks of a daughter and her mother have caused that palm tree luck that she got to fly like a feather in the wind.

The father of the house who was sleeping woke up after hearing voices in the living room as if they were strangers, then he went out and found his wife Eliza and their daughter Linda at the door as the strangers were leaving.

"What is going on here?" old Tando, asked his wife

"There were just guests who came to the house"

"Why wasn't I woken up?"

"I thought I would disturb my husband"

"What do they want?"

"they had come to see Emily, their boy wants to marry her, but Emily has flatly refused, she said she doesn't want to marry poor people like them" Linda answered before her mother could because she ran out of lies and was looking for lies to deceive, so her daughter had to help her in front of her father.

"So Emily has refused to marry these poor people. Now that Emily is rich, why is she only in here doing domestic work, Emily.....!!" the old man called harshly

"Yes uncle" Emily responded in the kitchen.

"Come here quickly you savage"

"My husband, slowly, don't hurt that girl" Aunt Eliza pretended to sympathize with Emily who came running holding her long and big dress.

"Yes uncle" she stood in front of the old man who looked at Emily from the bottom to the top, and then he looked at her from the top to the bottom then the old man said,

"Show me the wealth you have enough to reject a poor suitor?" he asked Emily and she remained surprised because she did not know what was going on.

"Dad, there is..."

"Hey Emily, stop answering your uncle"

Aunt Eliza reprimanded Emily deliberately preventing her from defending herself, uncle Tando gave the girl a heavy slap on the face Emily remained holding her cheek moaning in pain not knowing the mistake she had committed this time.

"You who refuse suitors, with what wealth? You fool, go to your room and get out of my sight" Emily was chased; she ran to her room and lay face down on the bed crying alone.

"Emily!" Her aunt followed her and stood at the door.

"yes aunty" Emily quickly wiped her tears and the cold that never stops coming out of her every time she cries, then she stood up and bowed her face listening to her aunt.

"Just sit" her aunt told her and she sat on the bed.

"Yes aunty"

"Do you know the young man who came here today?" Emily was asked and she hesitated to answer, and she was asked the same question again.

"Yes, aunt, I know him" she answers slowly

"Where does he live?"

"I met him at the market; his father is the owner of a lot of shops at the market"

"I know that, I asked you because I was surprised that they came here, how did they get there?"

"I don't even know how they got here my aunt, it's possible he followed me back and forth and found out because he told me he loved me, and he wanted to marry me"

"That Emily is a very naughty boy, don't be fooled by his wealth, ask yourself why he left all the daughters with their abilities and came after you, he just wants to ruin your life"

"Okay aunty, I heard you" Emily shook her head

"Hey, go to the river and fetch some water, there is no water in here"

"Okay aunty" Emily got up from the bed and quickly left the room holding her long dress that covers her legs but she is very tired with only three dresses to wear.

"You black bastard, you think you can marry a young man from a financially capable family and then my daughter Linda should stay at home? That will never happen unless I am not her mother" Aunt Eliza warned and slowly left the young lady's room with her.

Emily, who doesn't have time to rest all day, came out with her traditional jug for fetching water, a special vessel with a handle beautifully engraved on the outside, large enough to fill with water, and left to fetch water shortly after leaving the kitchen to cook for the whole family.

Inside the palace of King Sebastian, the meal time had come, the king's family gathers at the table, King Sebastian himself and his wife Queen Zoe and their children, and a few close relatives of the king and queen living in the palace, the maids are busy preparing everything on the table and good quality food is prepared. When the family starts having their diner the king asks,

"Where is Kendrew?" the king asks, they all look at each other and realize that Prince Kendrew is not there.

"He hasn't been seen for a long time, Your Highness the King," the chief maid replied.

"Look for him in his room" Queen Zoe instructed the chief maid, before she could turn away from the king's presence, the soldiers ran in

"Your Highness the King, Your Highness the Queen"

"What is it?" Queen Zoe asked the soldier

"Prince Kendrew has escaped and is not in the castle..." he told them all and they turned and looked at each other at the table....

On the other hand, Prince Kendrew in the wilderness at the mountain was running away from the lion who was chasing him, Kendrew folded the long female dress he was wearing to his waist and used it to escape inside the cave without turning back. He was crossing the park while naked, the female shoes he had also thrown away seeing them heavy and the lion's claws were about to grab his feet. He went to the canyon and looked down and saw a big river, he turned back and saw the lion coming at the speed of a hurricane, Kendrew saw that rather than being torn to pieces by the hungry lion, it is better to throw himself into the canyon. When the river flows down, he can die or recover, he threw himself whole and when the lion arrived, he braked hard, nearly falling into the canyon. He stopped and looked down and saw his food falling down the canyon.

"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!" the lion roared regretting missing his lunch, turned and left.

Emily arrived at the river with her big natural jar; she squatted on the edge of the river and began to draw water slowly while singing her favorite songs. When she finished drawing she carried the jar slowly and put it on her head ready to leave but before she turned she saw something coming from above and fell into the water!! Emily opened her eyes in fear and was very shocked, she turned to run and accidentally tripped on a stump that was hidden on the ground, and she flinched and was unable to stop the jar on her head. It slipped and fell to the ground, it broke into pieces and all the water spilled out, Emily kept her mouth closed while she opened her eyes.

"What am I going to tell my aunt, dear God?" she held her head thinking what her aunt will do when she tells her that she had broken the water jar....
