Chapter 4 The engagement

Why don't you just reject this proposal and move on with your life besides I don't think you are my type of girl.you are too local and churchy for my liken.That was when she told me her own opinion about the whole plan

"I don't like you either,you are too rude and arrogant for my liken,I can't even cope with a spoilt brat like you"she said.

"So please end this madness between our parents.just look for something to tell them,End it for goodness sake".I said with a high tone

"For your information I already have someone whom I want to spend the rest of my life with but my family business is going down I need to help. if not for your father's greediness we won't have be here in the first place"she said

After going back and forth exchanging words with her I took my car keys and left I could not stand the sight of her anymore.

Abigail's pov

I got home very angry that evening and my mother could tell from the look on my face that I wasn't happy with the date.

"How was your date honey"she asked

I just ignored her and went to my room.I didn't come out from my room till it was morning.I was thinking of a way to avoid my father and the conversation the following morning. so I decided to go over to ariana place since there won't be much work to do at home.

I did some house chores,had my bath,ate breakfast and left.so before my father could come out of his room I had already left.

I got to ariana place without calling or texting her and guess what, she was still sleeping.Her apartment looks so unkempt and scattered.In my mind I was thinking about how I ended up with a friend like this.

"Ariana aaaaaaaaaaaaa" I shouted

She jumped off from her bed surprised to see me that early in the morning in her place

"What are you doing here so early this morning??"she asked

"Was that why you didn't bother to lock your door??"I asked

"Oh that,I just came in this morning that is why the door is opened"she replied.

"You just came this morning??from where??"i asked

"I went clubbing it's been a while so i decided to go out" she replied

"Really??and that is the reason your apartment is so scattered also??"I asked

"I will arrange it when I have the strength"she replied

After much argument I joined her and we arranged the place.

"So tell me why you here so early this morning??"she asked

"Nothing I just miss you and I decided to come see you"I replied

"Really??"she asked

"Yes really" I replied

I didn't want to tell her about my arranged wedding,at least not now.I stayed in her place till it was evening and now I was ready to face my father.it was time for me to go home as it was getting late already.She followed me outside to get a taxi .I finally got one,I entered and waved her good bye.

my father was already calling my phone to no where I was at time of the day.I didn't bother taking his calls because I was outside the house.

I paid the taxi his money and went inside.I met my parents waiting for me in the sitting room like I was missing or something. I didn't know what to do at that moment,I just stood there lost in thought.

"Where are you coming from??"my mother asked

"Good evening sir ,good evening ma"I greeted

"Your mother just asked you a question"he yelled

"A -ariana's house"I managed to answer

"Are you sure"my father asked

"Yes father"I replied

"Ehnn honey it's ok at least she's back"my father said trying to cool my mother

"Go in and take your bath then come down and have your dinner,I will continue the conversation tomorrow"he said as they both stood up and went to there room.

I was happy my father didn't take it serious .

It's been two weeks after we went on a date.I was in the sitting room watching my favorite tv channel when my mother came in and sat with me.we were having a mother and daughter time together when she told that my engagement is coming up.

I was shock ,my engagement?.my mother was trying to calm me down.she explained to me why we need to hasten the wedding.The preparation for my engagement was still going on and I still don't know how to tell my best friend.

My mother and Mrs Jane were busy deciding what we need for our engagement.They picked out our clothes,our engagement ring and even our engagement location.

I could not keep it anymore,I needed to talk to somebody about what going on in my life so I called ariana.

"Ariana can you please come over to my place"I asked

"Are you ok??"she replied

"I need to discuss something with you"I replied

In less than one hour ariana was in my house

She noticed I was sad and quiet,she kept asking what the problem was.

I didn't know where to start from or how to tell her what has been going on .After some time I summoned courage to tell her what was going on.

I told her how I came back from the state only to find out that my father has already arranged my wedding with a total stranger that I don't even know,how parents forced me to go a date with him,how horrible the date turned out and now they planing our engagement.

In shock, ariana asked

"Why will your parents do a thing like that,what is their reason"

"Well according to them,their reason was that the family business was going down and they needed financial help urgently,then my father went to meet his very good friend and explained to him.

But then his friend said the only way he could help my father financially was if I agreed to marry his impotent son and since then my father has been on my neck"I answer

"You mean all this has been going on and you didn't bother to tell me??"she asked
