Soon, Kaanchi and Riyaansh arrived at the Arora Palace. As they entered, an excited voice called out from the couch, "My lovely granddaughter-in-law is here! Kaanchi, come and sit beside me! I've been wanting to see you for a long time. You're finally here now!"
Kaanchi's lashes trembled slightly, unable to hide the complicated emotions in her eyes as she forced a smile. "Grandma, I'm sorry. During this time..."
However, Arpita Arora interrupted her, patting her hand kindly. Her tone was gentle as she said, "You don't have to explain. I know the difficulties you are facing."
Kaanchi looked at Arpita in surprise and asked tentatively, "You... You know everything?"
But if Grandma knows about our divorce, she wouldn't be speaking to me in this tone...
Even Riyaansh seemed bewildered as he looked at Arpita.
Arpita glared at Riyaansh furiously before turning to Kaanchi with compassion. "Yes, I know everything. This brat is a scoundrel. I had chosen a good wife for him, yet he takes you for granted!"
Kaanchi gazed at Arpita with amazement in her eyes. She wondered if Grandma was truly aware of the situation. Arpita then motioned Kaanchi to sit beside her and spoke solemnly, reassuring her that if Riyaansh didn't return home at night, she would take action and punish him, even going so far as to break his legs.
Kaanchi's eyelashes trembled slightly, realizing that Grandma understood the pain she had been going through. However, Arpita was still unaware of their divorce. Riyaansh's somber expression caught Arpita's attention, and she scolded him, asking why he looked that way. She even teased him about bringing his wife over for dinner.
Riyaansh controlled his emotions and replied humbly, stating that he wouldn't dare to do anything wrong. This led Arpita to comment on how he should already have grandchildren, emphasizing the duty of passing down the family line. Riyaansh's discomfort was evident as he glanced at Kaanchi.
Meanwhile, the servants noticed Riyaansh's return and quickly set up the dinner table. Arpita invited Kaanchi to join them, expressing that if Riyaansh didn't like the food, he could leave and never come back. Riyaansh sat at the table with a darkened expression, feeling abandoned.
Arpita served Kaanchi generously, treating her as if she were her granddaughter, while Riyaansh was seemingly left out. Kaanchi enjoyed her meal and engaged in conversation with Arpita, leaving Riyaansh distant and silent.
Riyaansh eventually asked Arpita why they were suddenly invited for dinner, and Arpita became furious, expressing her disappointment in his neglectful behaviour. She lamented that he rarely visited and spent time with her, leaving her alone. Riyaansh had no response and continued eating silently.
Arpita's agitation grew, and she scolded Riyaansh for not cherishing Kaanchi, his wife. She also questioned why he kept spending time with another woman at the hospital, accusing her of deceiving him and embarrassing the Arora family.
Riyaansh defended himself, explaining that the woman at the hospital had saved his life. However, Arpita remained unconvinced and insisted that the woman was just manipulating him. Kaanchi noticed Riyaansh's glare and smirked, knowing he suspected her of revealing his actions.
Kaanchi, who used to worry about Riyaansh's misunderstandings, now felt indifferent. She no longer cared if he misunderstood her actions. The dinner continued with Arpita scolding Riyaansh relentlessly, bringing a sense of satisfaction to Kaanchi as if her past grievances were being avenged.
After the meal, Kaanchi and Riyaansh finally left the Arora Palace. However, Kaanchi was torn between her desire to tell Arpita about their divorce and the need to keep up appearances, acting as if they were still a couple sharing a car.
However, Kaanchi had decided that she no longer wanted anything to do with Riyaansh. She was already furious as she made her way to the Arora Palace.
On the other hand, Riyaansh stood there with a sour expression. However, Arpita, not bothered by his mood, scolded him, "Why aren't you opening the door for your wife? Brat, where are your gentlemanly manners?"
Kaanchi looked up immediately, feeling unsure of how to respond. Riyaansh, still sullen, eventually came to her aid and helped her open the door.
Arpita noticed Kaanchi standing there, stunned and gave her a little push. "Silly child, why are you in a daze? Go on and get into the car!"
Kaanchi let out a soft sigh and smiled. "Grandma, it's getting late. You should go back into the house. We will be heading home now."
Once Arpita returned to the house, Kaanchi was finally able to walk away and hail a taxi. She thought to herself, "It seems I have to buy a car as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, Riyaansh remained sulky and didn't say a word.
One couldn't help but wonder if Arpita could understand Kaanchi's intention. She chuckled and told Kaanchi, "I'll go in once you leave. Hurry, get into the car."
Kaanchi still seemed hesitant, but Riyaansh had run out of patience and gruffly commanded, "Get in the car!"
Thus, Kaanchi had no choice but to enter the car. Riyaansh closed the door and turned to Arpita, saying, "You should go back to the house."
Arpita frowned and impatiently replied, "Stop with the nonsense. Get into the car!"
Riyaansh was left speechless.
Am I, not her grandson? Riyaansh remained silent, got into the car, and drove away. The silence inside the car was so profound that they could hear each other's breathing. Kaanchi didn't want to talk to him. Once the car turned and Arpita was out of view, Kaanchi said, "Stop the car."
Her voice sounded commanding, causing Riyaansh to mockingly ask, "Where are you rushing off to? Are you meeting another man?"
Kaanchi sneered. "Why aren't you stopping the car? Don't tell me you're hesitant to divorce and want to bring me back home."
The car screeched to an abrupt halt. Kaanchi smirked as she saw Riyaansh's face red with fury and spoke before he could argue, "If you want a divorce, do it quickly. Otherwise, don't blame me for changing my mind. I'll keep bothering you and make sure you can't marry her or divorce me!"
Saying that, Kaanchi reached for the door handle to get out, but Riyaansh suddenly locked the door. Kaanchi frowned and turned to him, asking, "What is the meaning of this?"
Riyaansh snorted coldly. "Kaanchi, what makes you think Grandma will always be on your side?"
"As I thought. You suspect I told on you," Kaanchi continued to smirk. "It doesn't matter whether I did or not. Isn't divorce more important to you, Mr. Arora? Can you confirm when you want to register our divorce?"
Riyaansh gave her a sharp glance. "Are you planning to send someone to inform Grandma when we divorce?"
"What are you thinking?" Kaanchi became impatient. "If you keep being afraid, we'll never be able to divorce. So, Mr. Arora, are you free tomorrow?"
Riyaansh replied coldly, "I've already told you. My assistant will contact you when I am free! Get out of my car!"
Kaanchi sneered in anger. "You think I want to be here? Riyaansh, you will pay for your arrogance one day!"
After saying that, she didn't spare him another glance and got out of the car. As Riyaansh impatiently tried to leave, she deliberately neglected to close the door. She walked away leisurely and said, "I'm taking my leave first, Mr. Arora."
Riyaansh gritted his teeth. "Kaanchi!"
Kaanchi smirked and didn't bother to look back as she walked away on a pedestrian path.
Two hours later, Riyaansh arrived at his company, and his phone rang. He answered it immediately.
"Boss, she has left the hill, and I have followed her to her home. Nothing happened on the way, and she didn't meet anyone."
Riyaansh's expression darkened instantly, and his eyes flashed with hatred for Kaanchi. His anger surged as he recalled her behaviour as if she wanted nothing to do with him.
"You don't have to follow her anymore."
The person on the other end was stunned. "Yes, sir."
Riyaansh hung up furiously, not wanting to hear about Kaanchi anymore. It would only make him even more annoyed.
