After a busy day, Kaanchi slept well that night. In the past, she would always fret about losing Riyaansh. However, now that she had lost him, she somehow came to terms with the reality and found a sense of peace.
Initially, she thought it would be difficult to sleep alone, but surprisingly, she had a peaceful night without any dreams. It seemed like she could truly let go of him. When she woke up again, it was because of her alarm clock ringing early in the morning.
Kaanchi got up in a good mood, washed up, and smiled with delight at the breakfast laid out on the table. She loved French-style breakfasts with croissants and hot chocolate. However, Riyaansh disliked them and preferred having meat for breakfast. So, she had been accommodating his preferences all these years.
Now, she was able to attend to her needs and enjoy the food she preferred, which made her feel at ease.
That morning, she got a call from Vinni, who informed her that the head of Alhawat Group's legal department was keen on meeting her. With Vinni's assistance, Kaanchi arranged a meeting place. After finishing breakfast, Kaanchi left the house.
Meanwhile, outside the villa, a man dressed in black was in a car and discreetly made a phone call. "Boss, she has left the house."
"Follow her," Riyaansh said.
Riyaansh's expression turned serious. He had no idea that Kaanchi owned her villa. She even suggested to him that they get a divorce. This woman... all of a sudden, she seems like a completely different person.
Kaanchi arrived at the meeting spot and spotted Deepak Agnihotri sitting by the window. She approached him and greeted him with a smile, "Deepak, you're here early." Deepak looked up in surprise and was shocked to see Kaanchi. "Kaanchi?" Kaanchi smiled as she replied, "You should call me Kashi."
Her response left him even more astonished. "Kaanchi, you..."
Deepak had always admired her exceptional academic abilities in school. He never expected to discover that she was Kashi.
As a result, he couldn't hide the excitement in his heart.
Soon, they both delved into the main purpose of their meeting and discussed the case.
Unbeknownst to Kaanchi, Riyaansh was watching from a car nearby. His expression had turned dark, like a stormy sky. He couldn't see the man sitting opposite her and didn't know who he was. All he could see was Kaanchi beaming brightly at the man.
Riyaansh's gaze turned vicious as if he wanted to consume Kaanchi entirely. He had never felt this frustrated before.
Before, Kaanchi only had eyes for him. How could she now smile so brightly at another man? Did she think he was dead?
Kaanchi didn't suspect anything unusual. After concluding the discussion, she had lunch with Deepak before departing. Later, she remembered that she hadn't gone shopping in a long time. Consequently, she went shopping and bought many things for herself.
By the time she returned to her villa, the sky was almost dark. The servants spent a couple of days organizing the items she had brought back. Upon seeing that she had returned, they handed her a list of the items.
Kaanchi noticed that something was missing from the list. She instinctively touched her neck and widened her eyes. "Where is the necklace? I can't lose that necklace! Did I forget to wear it when I packed in a hurry that day?" She pondered the situation and decided to return to Arora Villa to search for it.
Nevertheless, she didn't anticipate walking into the bedroom and discovering Riyaansh standing in front of her dressing table, gazing absentmindedly at a watch in his hand. Kaanchi was taken aback. Throughout their three years of marriage, Riyaansh had never set foot in their bedroom. Now, he appeared lost in thought while examining the watch she had given him, completely unaware of her presence in the room.
When she gave him the watch, he despised it and angrily threw it to the ground, shattering it. Kaanchi then used glue to painstakingly put it back together, piece by piece. Despite the watch becoming defective, she couldn't bring herself to discard it.
Meanwhile, Riyaansh suddenly became aware that he was being observed and turned to find Kaanchi looking at him with indifference. Annoyed, he snorted and tossed the broken watch onto the dressing table.
"How dare you display a broken item here? Is my villa some kind of thrift store?" he exclaimed.
Kaanchi's mouth twitched, and she retorted, "If you don't like it, then throw it away." With that, she walked past him to search for her necklace.
Riyaansh's eyes narrowed as he remembered how much she used to cherish that watch. Now, she was telling him to throw it away as if it meant nothing to her. He couldn't help but feel that she had changed, especially after seeing her happily chatting with another man during their meet-up.
Riyaansh's forehead showed visible veins as his expression turned serious. "Kaanchi! Have you found someone else? Is that why you agreed so readily to the divorce?"
Kaanchi laughed lightly. "You can interpret it that way if you like."
With that, she went straight to the dressing table and retrieved a box containing a necklace from a drawer. Despite their close proximity, Kaanchi didn't spare him a glance and turned to leave.
Riyaansh's face turned pale, and he grabbed her wrist.
" Do You believe you can come and go whenever you please?" Riyaansh asked Kaanchi. Kaanchi, unable to break free, looked at him with confusion and asked, "What is it that you want?"
"He refuses to listen to reason! I've never seen him so emotionally unstable before.
Observing her hesitation, Riyaansh tightly grasped her hand and said seriously, "Grandma wants to see you, so you're coming with me to Arora Palace tonight!"
Kaanchi frowned and looked at Riyaansh in bewilderment. "Is something wrong with you? Shouldn't you bring Akriti to see her?"
Riyaansh's expression darkened even more at her harsh words. "I just told you. Grandma wants to see you! Otherwise, why would I bother spending time alone with you?"
Kaanchi let out a disdainful snort. "Whenever Grandma wanted to see me in the past, you would always find excuses to prevent me from going. So, why are you now insisting on me going?"
Riyaansh sneered mockingly. "Kaanchi, Grandma cares so much about you. Have you forgotten her after our divorce?"
Kaanchi pursed her lips. Grandma was the only person in the Arora family who treated her well and cared about her. She knew Riyaansh never loved her, so she pitied herself for marrying him. Besides, some of the things Grandma did made Kaanchi feel like she was her own biological granddaughter. Therefore, she could never bear to refuse her request.
"Before, you were always concerned about Grandma, and now, you wish to ignore her. Kaanchi, why have I never noticed how selfish you are? Are you going to abandon her now that she is useless to you?"
"I'm not that kind of person!" Kaanchi glared at him.
Riyaansh scoffed. "Go see her then."
With mixed emotions, Kaanchi got into the car. The sham of my marriage has always been Grandma's concern. If only I hadn't insisted on marrying...
