Chapter 2 Confrontation of Kanchi and Aakriti

Vinni observed Kaanchi's serious expression and felt relieved. "You have finally come to your senses! You did so much for that worthless person, but he never appreciated it. Now, let's move on to another topic: Who is the biological father of Amrita Saxena?"

"I truly appreciate you. You've liberated yourself from misery by leaving him, babe. I wholeheartedly congratulate you for the decision you've made!"

While they were talking, two familiar figures walked into the café, causing Kaanchi's expression to immediately darken. The man was dressed in a black suit with silver shirt cuffs that seemed as cold as his heart. The woman by his side wore a delicate white dress, appearing as fragile as a bird. Her name was Akriti Dobriyal.

Kaanchi felt annoyed. What a coincidence! We've just finalized our divorce, and now he's openly dating his mistress.

Vinni took a quick look at Kaanchi and noticed that her expression had turned unpleasant. She asked, "What are these two doing here?"

Vinni's loud voice grabbed Riyaansh's attention, causing him to turn around and see her. Instantly, his expression turned intense.

"What's going on with this woman? She signed the divorce papers without care last night and even refused the villa. And now, she's back in my view. Is she trying to play hard to get?"

Kaanchi locked eyes with him briefly, then nonchalantly looked away, pulling Vinni along to leave. However, a sickeningly sweet voice spoke nearby. "Kaanchi, you're here too."

As the voice reached her ears, Akriti appeared at their side, wearing a gentle smile. She gazed at Kaanchi innocently, seemingly harmless. But in Kaanchi's heart, she scoffed. Who would have guessed that this seemingly innocent and gentle woman had been secretly sending her numerous intimate photos of herself and Riyaansh throughout the month?

Kaanchi flashed a disingenuous smile and said, "Akriti, you've already been discharged from the hospital? Impressive! You're able to walk so soon, even after being in a coma for three years. It's truly miraculous!"

Upon hearing Kaanchi, the people nearby glanced at them curiously. Akriti, feeling a bit flustered at first, quickly regained her composure. She then turned to Riyaansh and offered a sweet smile. "The doctor said I owe my speedy recovery to Riyaansh's unwavering care over these three years. His dedication was what woke me up and facilitated my rapid healing."

Kaanchi couldn't resist looking at Riyaansh and smirking. "Who would have thought my ex-husband possesses such medical genius? It's a shame he never pursued medicine. The medical field missed out on having a true genius!"

The curious spectators overheard the conversation and became even more intrigued to witness the unfolding drama. They exchanged glances and spoke quietly among themselves.

"Ex-husband? Does that mean the woman in the white dress is the mistress? Is she the wife's cousin?"

"Oh my goodness! This situation seems complicated!"

"How can she flaunt herself in front of the wife? Such audacity!"

Riyaansh's face turned serious as he heard the onlookers' comments. "Kaanchi, you've been clinging to me for so long, and yet, you dare to show up here and act aloof. If you cross my path again, you'll regret it!"

Kaanchi concealed her anger and put on a smile. "Regret? And how do you plan to make me regret it, Mr Arora?"

Akriti's eyes lit up with delight as she witnessed Riyaansh threatening Kaanchi. However, her joy quickly turned to sadness as she gazed at Riyaansh and pleaded, "Riyaansh, please don't be angry. There must be a misunderstanding. I don't want both of you fighting over me."

Kaanchi looked at Akriti with contempt. She had no idea her cousin could act so convincingly, and her innocent act disgusted Kaanchi.

Before Riyaansh could respond, Kaanchi interjected, "My cousin has been longing to become Mrs Arora for a while now. Why don't you marry her quickly, so she stops bombarding me with disgusting messages?"

Upon hearing the word 'message,' Akriti's expression changed, and she quickly explained, "Kaanchi, I've tried to make you understand several times. I have no intention of ruining your marriage. Riyaansh feels guilty because I ended up in a coma while saving him, and he wants to make it up to me. There is nothing romantic between us."

Riyaansh glared at Kaanchi and remarked, "It's pointless to try and make her understand. Let's leave."

Nevertheless, just as Riyaansh was about to depart with Akriti, Kaanchi intervened. "Why don't we proceed with our divorce now? This way, we can both marry other people and completely cut ties with each other."

Akriti tightened her fists briefly. Riyaansh informed me that they are divorced. Despite this, she wondered why he still hadn't received the divorce papers. Suddenly, Akriti's face became serious. "Kaanchi, nothing is going on between Riyaansh and me. If it upsets you, I won't meet him again."

Afterwards, she faced Riyaansh, her eyes welling up with tears. "Riyaansh, I apologize for creating a misunderstanding between you and Kaanchi, so I will go now. You should try to win her over. Ladies appreciate being persuaded and wooed."

Akriti departed immediately after making her statement. Riyaansh gave Kaanchi a cold glare and said, "I'm not available right now. My assistant will get in touch with you, so be prepared." Then, he hurried after Akriti.

Vinni was shocked and felt angry on behalf of Kaanchi. "Kaanchi, it's a good thing you divorced him! This person is not deserving of you."

How can Kaashi endure such disrespect? I couldn't get involved because it's her family matter. I wish I could confront Akriti! She's a cunning and deceitful person!

"Vinni, did you say Riyaansh will have to pay tens of billions if he loses this lawsuit?"

Vinni was still lost in thoughts about confronting Akriti and replied in confusion, "Yes, why?"

Kaanchi looked out of the window calmly. "Vinni, I need you to contact Mr. Alhawat, and get ready to start working."

Vinni was shocked and covered her mouth. "Are... Are you planning to seek revenge because of your hatred for Riyaansh?"

Kaanchi's smile didn't reach her eyes. "It's just business. I happen to like this case. I've always loved challenging cases. Besides, we are getting divorced, and I don't need to show mercy."

However, Vinni remained puzzled and asked, "But... Why are you helping Will? Aren't you Mrs Arora? You loved him so much in the past and would do anything for him..."

Kaanchi interrupted her with bitterness, "That's all in the past. Besides, I will be divorced soon."

"Are you going to divorce?" Vinni inquired.

"Yes," Kaanchi answered firmly. "Since I have taken up this case, I won't play around."

Vinni wasn't entirely convinced but nodded. She suddenly remembered something and said, "Previously, you attended court hearings remotely. However, Will insists on meeting you in person for this case... Once he finds out you are Mrs. Arora, he might not trust you..."

"Don't worry. I can handle it," Kaanchi replied confidently.

Seeing Kaanchi's determination, Vinni agreed to help with other matters. She also mentioned that Deepak, the head of legal affairs, was Kaanchi's senior from school, so communication should be easy.

Vinni noticed a change in Kaanchi from the past and felt genuinely happy for her. She suggested they go to her house to celebrate Kaanchi's freedom from Riyaansh.

After dinner at Vinni's place and discussing the case, Kaanchi went home. However, upon arriving, a servant informed her that someone had followed her there, raising concerns about her safety.

Kaanchi nodded in acknowledgment, but she didn't appear to be emotionally invested in the matter.

"Don't worry about him. He's just tagging along and doesn't seem to have any bad intentions."

To be continued...
