Ch. 5

"Don't worry, I'll be okay there," I said on the other line. I fix the earphones on my ears and focus on driving.

[Just call me if something bad happens.]

I rolled my eyes at what he said. His overprotection again.

"Duh! Don't overreact, Insoo. I can take care of myself. It's just a few days," I said again, focusing myself on the road.

[Few days? You'll be staying there for over a month, Lea, together with your ex-husband. What if he does something bad to you? How can you protect yourself from him? Huh?]

I heard his voice raise. I know that he's now turning red for overreacting and being pissed off.

"Mark? Do something bad for me? Duh! I won't let that happen. Maybe I will do something bad to him. I can play with it in my hands." I can't help but smirk and think dirty thoughts in my mind. I heard him exhale on the other line.

[Leah! Don't make me do whatever you plan. Just let him be," he said.

"I won't let him in, Insoo! I won't let him ruin me again. You know me! I want him to suffer! I want him slumped up on the ground." I said that makes him stop in the other line. "I'm already here. I will call you later. Bye," I said, ending our conversation.

I park my black SUV car on the other side. And I can see the view of the hotel that is still under construction. I removed the seatbelt and opened the car.

When I first set foot on the ground, I almost inhaled the fresh air and smell of the beach. This place is a bit far from the city, so you can breathe fresh air. The hotel was located near the beach. because that's what my brother thought of building the hotel there because many tourists and people go to the sea to bathe. Apart from the beautiful water that looks blue and sparkles like pearls, accompanied by a very beautiful view, where you can only see the spreading mountains and small islands around. This place is almost like a little paradise, apart from the white coast and blue sky.

I stopped thinking when I noticed Engineer Alonzo next to me.

"Nice to see you, Ms. Sandoval," he said, extending his hand to shake hands.

"Me too," I said, accepting his hands.

"Your family was a legend in the handling business. Your father, Sebastian Sandoval, was your successor and an intelligent businessman. Your brothers were too, Reynard and Glenard. They are both successful bachelor businessmen all over the world. And I could sense it in you, Lea; you'll become one of them. I hear lots about you; you are great, and I have no doubt of that. I'm also relieved that you're in charge of this project." He started our conversation, and we headed to the place where the hotel was built.

I can't help feeling overwhelmed by what he said.

"Thank you, Mr. Alonzo. And I'm so happy that you agreed to become one of our engineers." I said.

We just stopped in front of the hotel that was being built. It's still under construction, and we hope that it will finish by the end of the year. The materials used in the construction of the hotel became more thorough and good. It will also take a while to finish because it has the 20th floor and expensive items and whatnot. Mr. and I wandered around first. Alonzo is in the area to check on the materials and what else will be needed.

"I will send to you tomorrow the annual cash flow of this project, Mr. Alonzo. But excuse me, I have some important matters to do." I said before we ended our conversation:

I can't help feeling so grateful while silently watching my brother rest at home. It was quiet big and refreshing to the eyes; it was a combination of light yellow and brown paint that matches the layout and design. It has a mini-hut in the garden if you have to refresh and relax yourself. And combine it with dozens of flowers and great landscaping. I could almost be amazed by the cute little fish in the fishpond.

I stepped inside the house, and I fell so amazed by the beauty of it. It's more beautiful inside than outside. I wander my eyes inside the house, and I see plenty of artwork hanging on the wall and modern sculpture and furniture inside. I could almost see my reflection in the expensive marble tiles. I hear my brother actually designed all of this rest house. Up until the furniture and layout of the house, I couldn't believe that my brother has a talent for these.

I'm back in reality when I hear a soft footstep in the lobby. My eyes were so widening when I saw my ex-husband wearing a gray shirt and shorts and holding a can of bear. He hasn't changed at all, up to his face and body, but he's kind of mature and hunky, which I found sexy. I think he was heading to his room. I could see in his eyes that he looked at me in the eyes, but he just ignored me and said that I didn't exist. Damn!

I feel so pissed about his acting. that cold and arrogant man! Ugh! I can't help feeling burned and getting mad at how he acted!

I grabbed my two bags full of stuff and marched towards my room. When I entered the room, I silently observed the whole thing. I feel so exhausted! I throw myself and even my bags on the bed. It was kind of tired and sleepy; I closed my eyes just to rest myself for a while. It's almost 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon, and I haven't taken lunch and don't have a break. What a day!

I woke up when I heard my phone continue vibrating. Ugh! My head hurts every time I hear it continue; it just feels so nagging. I grab the phone and look at the caller ID. It's just Insoo again. What is up to him again?

I swipe it to the end button and throw my phone on the other side of the bed. I'm just tired of answering all of his questions again; that makes me feel so bored. I'm going to call him later. I messed with my hair and roamed my eyes inside the room. I can't see anything; the place is covered by darkness. I overslept again! It's past 9 p.m.
