Ch. 4

Chapter 4

When I left the mansion, I was still deep in thought. I parked my car in the garage, and I saw someone's red SUV parked. Hmm, someone's here.

When I entered the house, I saw Insoo in the lobby with my son Steven.

"Mommy," he called me on the excitement and went near me. He kissed me on the cheek.

"Hey, young man. How's your school today?" I asked him

"It's quite boring, mom. But thanks to uncle Insoo, he insists on taking me anywhere, and thanks to him, I'm not bored now," he said, full of excitement. I simply glanced at Insoo, who shrugged at what my son said.

"Okay? But you better change your clothes now. Your shirts were sweaty; you can catch a cold," I reminded him. He frowned at me. I knew that he hated it that much when I reminded him about something.

"Okay, mom," he said, and he went upstairs to change clothes. I couldn't stop smiling because of my son's expression.

When my son was out of sight, I looked at Insoo, who was still sitting on the coach.

"I called earlier at your office, and you're not there," he started.

"Oh. Is that it? My brother called earlier because Daddy was attacked earlier. I don't have a choice but to go and check on him to see if he's alright. I'm worried about him," I said, sitting also on his front. "But thanks, Insoo, because you're there to look after Steven when I'm not there." I saw him half smile at what I'd said. I remember again the times that he was always by my side.

"Goddamn it, Lea!" Insoo hissed. He grabbed the bottle of sleeping pills from me, and I threw it somewhere. He went to where I was to take more of the medicine I had taken from my mouth. I struggled to stop what he wanted to happen. I want to die! That's what I want.

"Are you out of your mind?" he hissed again and messed with his hair in frustration.

Tears fell one by one from my eyes. Very painful and very difficult. I can't take what's happening to me! My thoughts are a mess.

"Yes, I am out of my mind, Insoo!" I washed my face with my palm as tears continued to flow from my eyes. "I'm Insoo, so Insoo. I can't lose Mark and my son. I thought I could forget and move on from what happened. But I cannot! I cannot do it!" I kept getting out of bed while crying.

I just stopped when I felt Insoo's warm body. And he's now hugging me just to comfort me. I feel almost so heavy that I can hardly bear the pain.

"That's right, Lea. Please don't do this to yourself," He said again.

"I can't do it, Insoo. I thought, It's not hard to forget everything! I thought the pain and heartache would disappear immediately. But not yet! The longer it goes on, the more difficult it is and the more pain I feel! This is all I thought to do to get rid of the pain I feel! I want Mark back! I want my son back! I just hope there is a medicine invented for my feelings so that I don't cry and get hurt all over again. But nothing!" I continued to cry on Insoo's shoulder.

"Shh. Hold on! There is no medicine invented for the pain you feel because you yourself can treat the wound in your heart. When you learn to forget and move on from what happened," he answered. I was even more reassured because he kept stroking my back. Somehow the fear and nervousness were removed from my heart. "Please. I'm begging you, Lea. Don't do this again. Don't just end your life for this. Because Steven is still there, your son is still there, and you are not alone. Your child needs you now. He needs his mother to love and take care of him more now," he said, gently patting my shoulder, which made me ease the pain that I felt.

He has a point. Because of him, I realized that Mark is not my only responsibility. I need to get up and forget what happened for the sake of my son, because I know he needs me more. Insoo and I have known each other for almost a few years, and I still thank him because he is there when I need him. He is the one who helped me get up at times when there was nothing and I was a mess. He was the one who endured and took care of me when I was depressed for two months due to the trials that came to me then, at the same time that I lost the man I loved and the angel in my womb. He was the person who didn't give up on me when I wanted to disappear from the world.

"Hey!" Insoo snaps his hand on my face, which brings me back to reality.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Where are we?" I asked, and that made him smile.

"I said how is the hotel that Reynard assigned you? Are you okay?" He asked and crossed his legs on my front.

"Yes, it's fine. We will start constructing next week." I said that, which made him frown. What's the matter with him?

"Next week? Why is it so fast? Do you mean that you're not here next week?"

"Yeah? What do you expect? I'm in charge of everything, and I need to go there to check on the things that are needed for construction. It's not possible for me not to go there," I said.

"For how many days? Where were you staying?" I arched my eyebrows at his question. Does this man have a lot of questions?

"Not days, but a month. I'll be staying at the rest house that my brother owns in Cebu. So you have nothing to worry about," I said. I heard his heavy breathing, one after another, in front of me.

"That's relief," he said weakly. Maybe that was enough for me to hear what he said.

"But the bad news is I'm along with someone on that rest house." I paused a bit. Suddenly, Insoo looked at me, looking shocked. Just based on the look on his face, he wanted to know and asked me who I was with at the rest house. case he doesn't have the courage to do that. "It's my ex-husband," I said.

"What??" His eyes widened in shock. If Insoo had been drinking something, he might have thrown it out when I looked at him out of surprise.

I washed my face before looking at him again. even though I'm having a hard time because I'll be spending a month with that horrible man. My head and nose are getting hotter with annoyance because of my brother's decision to join Mark and me at his rest house in Cebu. It looks like that fool has a plan for the two of us. Damn it! ugh! I hate my brother!
