Chapter 8 He must be crazy

Adriel woke up because of a blinding spill of light in the window. His brows furrowed violently, before his eyes slowly opened. He regretted it immediately as the light rammed into his eyes, triggering a splitting pain in his head.

For a while he did not remember what happened.

He was still wearing the white shirt he wore yesterday. Except it was creased and his top two buttons were open, showing off his firm and fair chest.

Then he remembered that he was drunk after an impromptu meeting at a restaurant.

Was Riza the one who sent him back?

Adriel never remembered anything when he was drunk, so he sat and didn't think about much. His eyes fell on the glass on the table and an aspirin.

He took it without much thought, thinking that Shari might have prepared it after finding him out of it on the couch.

The young girl in question just came out of the kitchen and saw him. She looked nervous. "Sir, you are awake. Would you like me to prepare some food?"

Adriel massaged his temples and replied flatly, "Has Liam eaten yet?"

At that time the clock struck nine. He was late for office, his assistant must have been acting like a hot worm waiting for him.

"Um, he had breakfast and is now in his room." Shari moved her eyes slowly.

Of course. There were problems at his father's company and his mother was also sick, Liam asked for a leave of absence from the university. What else could Liam do besides being in his room? Now Adriel seemed to have to consider sending Liam back to school.

"Then let him be. Don't disturb him."

He stood up and staggered slightly from the dizziness.

"And ... next time get me two aspirins. One isn't enough to make my headache go away."

Shari crumpled her apron and nodded obediently.

Her forehead was sweating as Adriel walked past her. She was afraid that her lies would be exposed and she would be scolded. Actually it wasn't her who prepared the medicine on the table, but Liam, and Liam also asked her to come over to make breakfast of ginger porridge early in the morning for Adriel. But Liam had begged her not to expose him, so she vowed not to let her tongue slip until she died.

Seeing Adriel about to enter the room, Shari came back to her senses. "Sir, would you like breakfast to be prepared now?"

Adriel didn't seem too impatient as he turned his head sharply. "Fuck off."

Shari's little body trembled. "Y-Y-Yes."

Shari's tiny form darted into the kitchen to dig a hidden hole, at the end of the stairs, Liam watched blankly.

He heard the bedroom door slam shut and his mind began to wander. Even though he had expected such a cold conversation would occur between Adriel and his housemaid, he still didn't expect that the man was actually quite scary.

It was only when Adriel asked if he had had breakfast that Adriel's voice turned gentle, beyond that every note in his voice was almost a thorn.

Really! Who could stand a man with such a bad temper?

When Liam went out during the day, the house was empty. Adriel left after making a scene in the morning, only after he left Liam was able to go back to his room and did nothing.

The house was clean when Liam went into the kitchen and the food Shari prepared was ready to be heated. It was only then that he realized that the ginger porridge prepared this morning had not been touched by Adriel.

As he finished eating, his phone rang. It was a professor at his university.

"Professor Scott, what are you looking for me for?" Liam asked.

James Scott spoke carefully, "Liam, the new semester will start next month, I see your leave is almost over. Are you ready to enter next month?"

For a moment Liam was stunned. "What do you mean? Did you make the wrong call?"

James sounded confused. "No. Here's your name. Someone came this morning and said if you could enter in the next semester to continue your school. I just checked and contacted you right away."

"Ah? Who is it?"

"His name is Jonas Anakin. He was in a rush and said I could call you right away if I found a suitable schedule."

Liam was getting confused. He didn't know whose name was mentioned at all. But James couldn't have been more wrong because he was such a meticulous person. This meant that someone really was coming in his name.

"Oh, that might be my father's acquaintance. I didn't expect that I had been on leave for so long, it seems that the new semester is almost starting." Liam tried to answer normally.

"Are you sure he's your father's person? If you're unsure I can call your father and--"

"It's fine, Prof. I know him. I'll call you back soon, I'm currently outside." Liam was lying.

"All right. You be careful on the road and call me."

After hanging up the phone, Liam sighed.

James Scott wasn't actually the professor who taught him directly, but the old man was a good friend of his father's. Luckily the professor contacted him immediately instead of his father. Hearing what happened, Liam immediately guessed.

Jonas Anakin should be Adriel's man.

It was been almost a year since he took time off from university, if this person didn't show up, Liam didn't even remember.

He looked at his contacts and found Adriel's name. He hesitated for a moment before calling.

"Hello, Liam." Adriel's hoarse voice greeted him.

It was quiet on the other side after that, maybe Adriel was in his office, he didn't mince words, "Who is Jonas Anakin?"

"My assistant. You've met him twice." Adriel answered quickly.

Ah.

"The university contacted me that a person named Jonas Anakin came and asked about the schedule for the new semester for me. Was it you who asked him?"

There was a soft chuckle. "That's right. I was the one who asked him to come over. I think you should continue your schooling. Wasn't I right?"

"There's no need."

"Huh?"

"Next time there's no need to trouble yourself for things like this. I can do it myself." Liam insisted.

There was no answer for a long time from Adriel's side. Liam said as coldly as possible, it must be the other party to feel his dislike.

"I'm going to hang up." Liam didn't want to hear any more of that man and almost hung up.

But the man on the other end shouted, "Wait! You! Even the good things I do still make you angry? You really want to test me, don't you?"

Liam was shocked to hear that. Adriel said all of that in a forced tone of voice and it was almost like he was grinding his teeth at his every word. For some reason Liam could imagine his expression.

"Then what? Do I have to thank you for contacting the university for me?"

Adriel, "..."

Liam, "You said you would treat me well when you asked me to be your partner in front of my dad. So your kindness was a promise of your own. Do you even want to charge me for what you did?"

Now that he remembered this, he became angry when Adriel forced his way yesterday only because Liam refused his wish to go with his chauffeur.

Was that what it meant to 'treat him well'?

This man was full of bullshit!

Liam thought he was touched where it hurts and accepted Adriel's anger, but the man sighed, "Fine, I'm sorry. I should have asked you about this first. Don't you wanna go back to college now?"

Hearing the man's deep and low voice, Liam's heart tingled.

"None of your business."

Liam coldly hung up the call, he must be crazy to think the man's voice tickles his heart.

... to be continued ...
