Chapter 6 His true nature

"Did something happen there?"

Liam peeked at Adriel's bedroom door when his mother asked this. He sensed her worried tone and replied, "It's nothing. I just have to take care of something and can't go back."

"I'll have the family doctor come and examine you," he added.

After hearing his mother's relieved reply, he hung up.

He entered the room, his eyes watching Adriel's annoyed face that scared the little nurse who was treating his wound. It was clear that the little nurse's movements were reckless and every time her hand slipped, Adriel would shout at her.

"The wound is not that deep, so no need to get stitches. In a few days don't let the wound touch water."

Liam turned his head when he realized a male doctor was speaking to him.

"You can tell him. I have nothing to do with this." Liam said nonchalantly and intended to leave.

"Where the fuck are you going? Stay here!" Adriel growled.

Liam paused, he didn't move for a few moments, glanced at the old doctor who has sweat on his forehead, before sitting back down.

The female nurse finished her job more easily after that. Realizing that the presence of another man here would put this fierce young master at ease, she prayed in her heart that Liam would not leave.

Luckily the wound care procedure was quickly resolved.

The doctor and nurse were sent away after everything was over.

"Do you still intend to return home?" Adriel asked.

Liam replied carelessly, "Mn."

Without saying anything else, Adriel headed to the wardrobe, changing his pajama into casual clothes and jacket.

"What are you going to do?" Liam was confused.

"Driving you," Adriel replied, "wait out front while I get the car ready."

The previous car was dirty with his blood. He didn't want to use it anymore and could only take another car. When he turned around, he saw Liam still in the same position.

"Why? You still won't let me drive you?" Adriel asked impatiently and snorted.

Liam's gaze fell on the bandage on Adriel's hand and his mind contracted. He didn't even care if this man died in the streets, but his conscience was too soft for it to show on his face.

After knowing this man's true nature, he didn't feel angry, but felt strange. How could he change his attitude overnight? Did not make sense.

Adriel also glanced at his hand and said, "Don't worry over this little wound. I've had worse. Come on."

Worry?

Was he feeling worried?

Liam wasn't ready when his hand was tugged gently by a huge hand. He came to his senses and pulled away. "No need. I already told my mom I'm not going. I'm going back to my room."

And why did he have to explain it ...?

Liam was used to hanging his interlocutors with silent gestures. Obviously the man in front of him was someone he didn't like, who married him only because of his family's debt.

Why should he talk to him?

Because Adriel didn't hold him back, Liam immediately went to his room. He locked himself up until the afternoon.

During that time, nothing was done. Just rolling to the right and left on the comfortable bed. His eyes caught the exact same lamp as the one in his room. Even though every decoration was made the same, he didn't feel comfortable at all. This room was cold, empty and empty like his heart.

At this time, the door was knocked. The housemaid who used to clean the house had come and asked him out for dinner.

At the same time, his stomach was growling.

Uh. He skipped both breakfast and lunch. If he continued like this, no matter how strong his stomach was, it would eventually cause problems. Why should he torture himself for a man like Adriel?

He was not worth it!

"Sir, you're finally out. I'll warm up some food for you." The young girl smiled cheerfully.

Liam's eyes survey the surroundings. Unlike yesterday, today there was only the young female maid, he remembered her name was Shari.

"Just me alone today. Yesterday's maids were only hired to clean up the rest of the party, but I can serve you well." Shari said as if reading his mind.

"Adriel ... where is he?" Liam asked in a low voice.

Shari replied, "There was no one when I got here. I thought you were gone too so I intended to go home. Good thing I knocked on your door first."

Liam thought that Adriel's absence was enough to give him a breather.

He waited at the dining table while the food was prepared one by one at the dining table. Shari was a skilled cheerful girl. She had come to think of Liam as a nice person, so she got along easily and spoke a lot while she was at work.

Even though Liam mostly didn't answer her remarks, she didn't take it personally. At least Liam was better than that fierce young master whose emotions she couldn't read.

Shari took off her apron. "Sir, I will tidy up your room while you eat. After that I will wash the dishes and go home."

Liam stopped Shari as she was going upstairs. "Does Adriel never have dinner at home?"

"Um. He hardly ever eats at home."

"I see."

All the food on the table was his favourite. Was Adriel also the one who asked Shari to prepare this?

How much did Adriel know about him?

Just as Liam was about to start eating, Shari added, "Um, that ... actually I've seen him waiting for you at the dining table before leaving, maybe at that time he wanted to eat with you."

Liam was stunned, but quickly a look of indifference appeared on his face. He wanted to ask exactly when it happened, but in the end he just said, "Is that so."

Getting a nonchalant reply, Shari quieted down and didn't bother him anymore.

Then Liam eat fast. Before Shari left, he asked her to make some food for Adriel and put it in the fridge. He did this after thinking of Adriel who was waiting for him at the dining table alone, for some reason that image looked a bit sad. Even though he didn't know what purpose the man was waiting for him, he didn't want to think about it.

It was eight o'clock. It wasn't too late, but Adriel still wasn't back. Liam was in a complicated mood.

He obviously didn't care what happened to the man, but his heart felt uneasy.

... to be continued ...
