Chapter 4 Some careless woman

Lisa was angry with Meg and didn't understand what was wrong with her.

"Look, Lisa, you know it is not as easy as you made it sound. My father owed him six million dollars, and you know that this marriage was based on that. I can't walk away without paying him all that my father owned him" Meg explained like she has always done a thousand times.

"But you are not the one that is indebted to him" Lisa let out. In despair.

Natalie's attitude toward Meg was driving her crazy.

"Look, Meg, Natalie did not have any right to treat you like an animal" Lisa insisted as both of them walked into the reception hall.

" Lisa, you know how Natalie threatened to arrest my father if he did not pay up his debts? Would you have preferred that I stand and watch my sick father taken to prison when I could still do something to save him? It's not just possible" Meg said and moved to her desk to settle down, but before she could sit down, her phone rang. It was her mother and so she picked it up.

"Meg! Your father is dying, you need to do something, please come and pay up the hospital bills. They have refused to treat him since last night and he is in serious pain" Her mother cried bitterly on the phone.

"Calm down Mom, I will be right there in a few minutes," Meg assured.

She too was not calm, her voice was trembling as she spoke, where will she get the money from? Natalie has successfully used all her saves.

"How can you ask me to calm down, when we don't have any money" her mother lamented.

"Mom, I said I am coming. Please pull yourself together. I will be there in a moment " Meg said. She hung up almost immediately. She did not want to hear any more complaints from her mother. Her mother's words always ripped her heart apart with so much pain.

She knew that her presence will still not make any difference, however, she has to say something to make her mother feel better.

She got up from her seat and hurried out of the hotel.

Her mind was so clouded that she forgot to take permission from her boss or inform Lisa what was going on or where she was going.

Meg halted a taxi outside the hotel and went to the hospital. Within a few minutes, the taxi stopped opposite Glado general hospital. She paid her fare and hurried out of the car. She was in such a hurry to get into the hospital, that she forgot to look properly before crossing the road.

Meg did not look well before stepping onto the road, Insanity black Rolls- Royce suddenly halted before her. She did not see the oncoming vehicle, and the car almost ran over her.

However, the driver was able to control the car just in time to avoid the accident from occurring.

The driver popped his head out of the window in anger.

" Are you blind? Can't you see? If you want to die just do so out of the road" the man yelled.

Meg was too shocked to respond to him, she gently picked up her handbag from the floor. She took a deep breath.

"Are you mad? Get out of my way" the driver yelled again.

"I'm sorry sir" Meg finally apologized and moved out of the road.

She did not blame the man it was all her fault, she forgot to look properly before crossing. She waited for a while to calm her nerve before she walked into the hospital.

"Who was that?" Marco asked from the back seat.

"Some careless woman that can't watch her way." The driver responded and drove inside the hospital.

Meg came into the hospital, and she saw her parents, crying in the hallway. They knelt before the hospital accountant and pleaded with the man. She ran to them and helped her father sit down.

"What is the problem, Mom?" She asked her mother in confusion.

"Your father was sent out of his room just now. They insisted that we must clear our debt before he could be allowed inside the room" Meg's mother explained amidst her tears.

Meg felt useless and helpless. It hurt her to see her parents treated like garbage. But there is nothing she could do, all her saves were gone. There is no way she could save them from this embarrassment, just because of Natalie.

"Please sir, I promise you I will pay up my father's debt. Just give me some time and I will do something " Meg pleaded.

"Miss Moore, this is the third time you have made such promises, but you never paid. Not even for once" the man replied.

Meg felt terrible, she couldn't keep her promises because Natalie always used up her money each time she saved them for the hospital.

"Give me one more chance and I will pay up," she

Pleaded. She fell on her knees, grabbed the man on his leg, and begged for mercy.

"Please sir, allow my father to sleep on his bed tonight and I promise to pay up tomorrow. Please"

However, the fat man would not hear such. He lifted his legs even though Meg and her mother held him tightly and shoved them out of his way. This caused Meg and her mother to hit their ass on the ground.

Instantly, Mrs. Moore started coughing seriously, she was asthmatic and the weight of her husband's illness made her neglect herself.

"Where is your inhaler," Meg asked anxiously. And moved closer to her mother.

Meg's sudden outbursts made the fat man turn around. He saw Mrs. Moor on the floor coughing seriously, without warning, the fat man quickly ran to Mrs. Moor, he squat down immediately, and started crying her name together, with her daughter Meg.

"Mother! Mother!" Meg screamed, tugging her mother's body.
