Chapter 2 Zayn opens his eyes!

Illuminated by the light of a crystal chandelier, Zayn's obsidian eyes seemed deep, magnetic, and dangerous. As usual, the expression sent shivers down his spine. As he took a few steps back, the blood drained from James' face.

"Maria... Aunt Maria... it's getting late and I won't bother you and Uncle Zayn!" James frantically ran out of the room in a cold sweat.

Watching him flight in his panic, Maria's heart tightened and her body began to shake uncontrollably. Was Zayn awake? wasn't he to die? She wanted to talk to him, but couldn't find her voice. She wanted to take a closer look, but her feet were stuck to the floor.

A wave of terror swept over her, and she involuntarily fled back to her stairs. "Mrs. Fischer! Zayn is awake! His eyes opened!" Maria shouted.

When Mrs, Fischer heard Maria's voice, she ran up the stairs. "Master Zayn keeps his eyes open every day, ma'am. But that does not mean that he's awake. You see, he's not reacting to anything we say so far," Mrs, Fischer said.

Then she sighed, "Doctors say the chances of waking up from a coma are very low." Still feeling the discomfort, Maria said, "At night, can I leave the lights on? I'm a little scared."

"Of course," said Mrs, Fischer. "Go to bed early. Tomorrow you have to visit the old mansion. I will wake you up in the morning."

"Okay," Maria replied.

After Mrs. Fischer left, Maria went to bed in her pajamas. She sat stiffly next to Zayn, admiring his distinctive features. She held out her hand and waved it in front of him.

"What are you thinking, Zayn?" she asked, but she didn't get an answer.

Maria was suddenly overcome with grief. Her own suffering was nothing compared to what Zayn had gone through.

"I hope you wake up soon, Zayn. You won't be able to die in peace once that damned James gets his hands on all your wealth."

Then Zane slowly closed his eyes. Maria started feeling her heart racing in her chest and she looked at him in shock. Some people are conscious even in a vegetative state.

Did he hear what she just said?

She lay restless next to him. After a while she heard her breathing for herself. She's officially Mrs, Knight, and so far no one is bullying her. If Zayn is dead, how will the Knights treat her? The thought made Maria's chest tighten. She had to use her position as Zayn's wife to regain everything she had lost before she married Zayn.

Anyone who has wronged her before her will pay for it!

At eight o'clock the next morning, Mrs. Fischer took Maria to her old mansion to visit Mr. Zayn's mother, Rachel Knight. The entire Knight family was in the living room when Maria arrived and she began greeting each of the family members and serving them tea. Rachel seemed pleased with Maria's attitude. An obedient child will be easier to control.

"Maria, how did you sleep last night?" Rachel asked.

"It was pretty good," Maria blushed.

"How was Zayn? He didn't bother you, did he?"

She said, "He didn't move at all."

He may not have moved his body but his presence was felt quite clearly. She slept soundly, hugging him like a pillow. She woke her up in the middle of the night and she realized what she was doing, to her surprise.

"I have something for Maria," said Rachel as she opened her purple gift box and handed it to Maria.

"This bracelet suits your skin color."

Maria did not dare to refuse the old lady in front of her whole family and she accepted her gift immediately.

"Yes, thank you."

"Maria, I know it's hard for you. Zayn's current state doesn't allow him to treat you well. But there are ways to take advantage of all this." said Rachel as she began to reveal her plan.

"Zayn has no more time. He was always busy with work and didn't have time to date. He didn't even have a chance to have a child of his own..."

Maria froze at Rachel's words. Did she want a child? Was Rachel contemplating Maria on having Zayn's child?

Rachel concludes, "I want Zayn to have children and carry on the lineage." Maria was stunned and everyone else in the room looked equally shocked.

"Mom, Zayn has been sick for a while. He may be infertile," said Frances Knight, Zayn's eldest brother.

Zayn wasn't dead yet, but everyone had already seen his mansion.

Rachel laughed and said, "Of course, I'm working with the doctors to come up with a trick or two. Given his vast fortune, Zayn couldn't be without an heir. Have Maria give birth to Zayn's child. A daughter is enough."

At that moment, everyone's gaze was suddenly focused on Maria....
