Chapter 5 Dylan's Soul

NATHAN smiled to his ears. I can feel his genuine happiness after finding his brother's soul.

How did he find him?

"Where did you rest his soul?" I asked.

"Rest? What do you mean by that? Is it sending him to the bridge of the Spiritual realm? I'm not going to send him off right after finding him! It's been years since I last saw my real brother, Amaya."

I rolled my eyes and kicked his nuts.

"...ouch! What the fuck is wrong with you?!"

"Don't curse like humans, and it doesn't suit you. Anyway, you have a brain, but you still act like you don't, like a total animal who doesn't have critical thinking."

"Do you have to insult me first before going to Dylan?" he asked.

"I'm not the one who's obsessed with finding him, though. What should I do to his soul? Apparently, if I see him at this rate, I might lead the way to the spirit realm and send him to where he belongs."

"Aish, I'm starting to wonder why I even think of liking you," he said.

Liking me? Did it come across his mind?! He's a total loser! How could he think of that? He must be absurd.

He must be a lunatic who's obsessed with feeling the love.

First, Yna, now, he's thinking to like me? Jeez! Just thinking about it is giving me creeps already.

"Get lost."

"YES! I WILL! I WILL NEVER COME BACK IN YOUR DIRTY MANSION AGAIN!" he shouted and stormed off.

"It's not like we invited you to come here? In the first place, you're the one who approaches us! Tsk, lunatic."

"A-Amaya... where are you? Amaya... be safe, please. I need you to be safe..." Hiro suddenly uttered.

He's frowning.

Does he have bad dreams?

I flattened his frowning brows using my index finger.

"There, calm your heart, babe. I'm here, I'm safe, and you aren't."

Using my powers, I healed all his bruises in just a minute.

But he still has to take his time to rest. Gaining human energy is not something that a supernatural being like me could provide. It's their rubies, and we don't have that. It is the main reason why we trade our goods for human energies. We're even collecting their souls and disguising ourselves as grim reapers.

I heard a knock on my door.

Who was it again?

I opened the door.

It was Hein.

"What is that?" I asked.

"Uhm, I made a porridge soup for Hiro. Make sure you feed him this to regain his strength faster," Hein said. She brought a big bowl and put it beside my lampshade.

I nodded.

I thought she would leave, but she sat on my bed beside Hiro and looked at him with worry.

What is that? Does he still like Hiro? He must be planning to take him from me!

"Why are you keeping him by your side after all that happened? You've put him into a worse situation because of your selfishness."

"Say all you want, and I don't care."

"You keep saying that. Now, I'm starting to think if you love Hiro."

"Why don't you ask him?"

"How would I? He's unconscious."

"Then wake him up if you're that obsessed with making me look bad."

Keep calm, Amaya, don't let her get to your nerves.

"Give me Hiro."

"If he chooses to be with you after he wakes up, I will give him to you."

"Is that a deal?"

"A deal? Oh no, there must be a misunderstanding here."

She frowned, looking confused.

I stood up and sat beside her. Now we're only inches away from each other.

"...it's a challenge, Hein."

Based on her reaction, she seems a bit out of it. She doesn't understand what I am talking about yet.

"L-leave me alone! You're giving me creeps, fox!"

"That was fantastic, then."

I blow my breath to the air.

"No, that was horrifying."

"Oh, it does?" I asked and smiled creepily.

Hein didn't react. She just looked at me.

I used that chance to examine her face.

There was no nervousness in her eyes when I looked at her.

What's that? I thought she thought of me as a horrifying beast?

It feels like we're in a staring contest. No one is breaking the stare.

"Leave my mate alone and me," I uttered.

"A human mated to a nine-tailed fox? How sure you are?"

"You have a lot of things to discover to understand the reason."

"I'm willing to listen. Tell me everything I need to know."

"No, I will not tell you."

"H-huh? Then how would I know?!"

"You will discover it yourself."

She glared at me.

"...Woah, I'm scared! Huhu!" I said with a poker face just to irritate her.

Her appearance alone gives me a lot of emotions. Irritating her might make me feel less.

She stormed off after that.

"That's what you get for messing with me!"

"You're so reckless, Amaya."

I almost had a heart attack!

Fuck this soul who used our mansion as his hiding place from the grim reapers.

Even we, an assigned grim reaper, couldn't catch him.

"What is so reckless about that?"

"What if she did something to take Hiro away from you?" he asked.

I sighed angrily.

"Listen, soul, you don't have the right to tell me what I should do. I have my mind to decide for myself. Why don't you just care for yourself?"

"I know, it may seem hard to believe me. But don't act recklessly and too comfortably. Everything you have now might disappear sooner."

He suddenly vanishes after saying that.

"WHY DO YOU KEEP APPEARING IN FRONT OF ME JUST TO SAY NONSENSE THINGS?! AISH!!!"

Maybe I should get some fresh air now. My emotions are getting complicated, and I should clear my mind.

I'm not doing anything to fill my head. That's why worries are filling it. Gosh, I hate myself!

I went to the dining area to look for my brother, Yna, or Nathan, but none of them were there.

"Mune? Yna? Nathan?" I uttered.

Where did they go?

Aish.

Knowing that they left me here alone is making me so annoyed.

"I should clear my head on my own."

When I was about to leave the mansion, I heard a crying noise from the underground.

Wait, is there something hidden here? In the mansion?

Don't tell me. Kira and Loki made an unforgivable mistake?!

I hardly heard their conversations, so I followed the noise, crawling.

"Aish, it's so difficult to discover mystery alone."

"Hey, what are you doing on the floor?" Yna asked.

I looked up and saw her confused and curious face.

"Why are you here? Did you find this secret underground?" I asked.

"Huh? Hey, Mune, your sister is here. Did you force her to take illegal drugs? I feel like she's so high. She didn't even realize that she was in the basement," Yna said.

"I'M IN THE BASEMENT ROOM?!" I shouted.

She nodded.

Fuck! Why did I forget about it?

Mune laughed.

"Seems like you're seriously injured in your head," he said.

I hit his head and headlock it.

"I'll show what kind of lunatic I've become!" I shouted.

In an instant, he just used his teleportation to get out of my headlock.

I sighed.

"Cut it out and see Dylan here," he said.

Oh, right...

"Are you the one who was crying?" I asked.

Nathan is still sobbing.

"I told you to check him, but you didn't!"

"Woah, are you saying it's my responsibility to do what you ask me to do? Even if you ask guardians for that, it's still not certain they would help you. You should be thankful because I'm here now."

Nathan pushed me.

His fangs suddenly came out, his fingernails grew, and his eyes turned fiery red.

He's gasping for his breath continuously.

Did I just make a werewolf angry?!

Amaya, what did you do!

I closed my eyes, waiting for him to bite me.

I'm ready to feel his teeth buried on my skin...

...but he didn't.

When I opened my eyes, I saw him crying.

"I was too late."

"It's not your fault why he turned like that."

"I should've not asked him to buy me that balloon. I should remain silent and obey his rules. But I didn't! I was so fucking stubborn! Our parents used to say, "When the things you want to have is not going on the same path you were going, then stop chasing them." But I didn't listen! I forced Dylan to get me the same balloon I saw. I was so immature..."

"In conclusion, it's your fault why your brother was captured by those people and killed. You're the one who killed him."

"I know that! I know! But... if only... I would be at least at ease if he could go to paradise as soon as I found him. But in his condition... what should I do, Amaya?!" Nathan asked while crying and sobbing.

"You have to find his body so he would be able to leave," I said.

Nathan looked at me.

"HIS BODY HAS BEEN IN POSSESSION OF OUR ENEMIES! WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DO?!" he asked.

"Just wait. They will be the ones to come to us."

"Huh?"

I walked toward young Dylan and sat to level his eyes. I caressed his head.

"Hang on, Dylan, and we will get to you again."

"Are you sure you can help me, Amaya? You're not bluffing, are you?" Nathan asked.

I nodded.

After a few minutes, we decided to put Dylan's soul inside an invincible capsule.

He might not be able to come near the bridge of the spirit realm, but he can still wander around the world.

Nathan immediately came to me and got on his knees.

"Stop embarrassing me and stand up."

Instead of listening, he just stayed like that with his poker face.

"It might look like I'm not sincere, but this is a sincere act from me."

"Don't beat around the bush."

"Thank you, that's what I want to say. Thank you for everything you did and are about to do. I have no idea how you will lure the fallen deities, but I will trust you with my life. I will serve you and forever show you how grateful I am."

"It's too early to say that."

"Whether you will succeed or not, I will still do this. No one ever had the guts to help me because their name might get stained. Thank you, Amay-"

"AISH! SHUT IT! You are just making me feel uncomfortable."

"F-fine, I will stop it," he said and stood up.

I shook my head and looked at him.

He seemed distressed.

He faced too many things, and I'm sure he plans to end his life. But Dylan, his brother, is the only one keeping him safe.

"Hey, face me," I said.

He looked at me, so I turned my gaze away from him and started to talk.

"Based on his appearance, he looked like a 10-year-old boy who was gone missing. You probably didn't know this yet, but a soul who lost his dead body will lose his sanity. He won't be able to talk properly or remember things, and he will start creating a unique world inside his mind. To humans, he's just a boy who's gone crazy. But to us, grim reapers, he is the most pitiful."

Nathan couldn't help the tears from coming out of his eyes.

"It happened because of me, isn't it?" he asked.

I closed my eyes.

"There's no point in blaming yourself. Will that be able to bring back your brother's body? Will that make Dylan's soul back to normal? Don't get me wrong, Nathan. I understand how you feel. Everybody will understand your agony. But remember this and engrave it to your mind: your feelings are valid, but it's also useless."

He looked at me. This time, I can feel hope.

So I turned my back against him.

"...for now, look after Dylan's soul. Try to reconcile with him despite you being a stranger to him. In that way, your broken heart will heal too. You will realize your lost days together will feel like you're together all these years."

I didn't hear him responding for a few minutes, so I just let him be and started to walk away from him.

I need to go back to Hiro now. I need to see if he is doing fine.

When I was about to open Hiro's door, I felt his arms wrapped around my waist.

"I know how cold-hearted you are regarding creatures around you. But thank you for expressing your care for us- for me... using this unique way. Hiro is so lucky to have you."

I smiled because of the last line he said.

"No problem."

He let go of the back hug he did and let me face him.

"Although it may seem like you might down someone with your blunt mouth, don't hesitate to talk and say reality. Maybe no one has said this to you, but I want you to know that you're bringing realizations and peace to one's mind."

I looked away, trying to hide my shameful but grateful face.

What should I say to him? Should I thank him? But how?

I'm only comfortable expressing myself around Hiro, and I couldn't do it around anyone else.

"T-t-t..."

He looked confused now that I had opened my mouth! Aish! I'm so stupid!

"Woah, that was so sweet of you. Are you always like this to each other?" said Hein.

Is she here?

Now, my calm heart turned into outraging one.

Seeing her is enough to piss me off effortlessly.

"Leave."

"Why? Will you let me leave then?"

"Yes. I will escort you out if you want."

Her eyes suddenly flickered.

Tsk, what does she take me for? Does she think I will not be able to do that?

SUCKER!

Nathan suddenly held my hand.

"Don't bother her."

"H-hey! Shake it off!" I shouted.

"Oh... s-sorry."

I rolled my eyes and opened the door. I was shocked.

"Hiro?" I uttered.

I entered my room and checked my comfort room, closet, and everything.

Where is he?!

"Looking for me?"

"Oh god! You almost gave me a heart attack! Where did you go?"

"There, behind you and Nathan. While you guys had such sweet moments together, I was behind you. I almost forgot who you belong to. Oh- wait, did you even belong to someone?"

I turned my back.

Nathan looked stressed while Hein was smirking.

This is what she wanted, so I had to shut the door.

It may seem disrespectful to Nathan, but I have to do it.

Right after I closed the door, I jumped onto Hiro's back.

"How did you manage to walk alone?" I asked while on his back.

But he's not responding.

I tried again, but he was not giving me the answer I needed.

With that said, I let go of his back and do the piggy-front.

God... his cock... it started to get hard.

So I smiled.

He must've felt my cunt and the horniness.

"Why are you avoiding me?"

He's still not answering.

"...do you want me to kill myself to let you talk?"

Again, I received no answer at all.

Aish!

I grabbed his lips, and that made him stunned.

I stuck my lips on him while both of my eyes were open. His eyes were staring at me too.

He was the first one to let go of the kiss.

Hiro even threw me at my bed.

What the fuck is wrong with him?! Aish!

"JUST TELL ME YOUR PROBLEM! I'M NOT A FORTUNE-TELLER!"

I turned my back while covering my body with the blanket.

"Didn't you know, sly fox?" he asked.

"Would you ever think I would waste my time asking you if I would've known it?"

He took a deep sigh, gathering all the courage he needed.

"I was jealous of Nathan."
