Chapter 9 Red hair

***Felicia POV

"Where did this book in my possession come from?" I said looking into space

Oliver supposed "Maybe it was just a student from the university."

"But he introduced himself to me as a librarian!" I shouted

"Miss, please keep your voice down,"

"Relax, Felicia..."

He sat me down and opened the book to study it.

"Okay, if Derrick showed you and Nate this book, then he probably has something to do with wolves."

"Do you think he's a wolf himself?" I asked.

"What I'm saying is that there may be things he needs to know and would like you to discover. Who's the author of the book?"

"It's written by Bryan McKey. But he told me he's an old senile man. I don't even know if he's still alive," I replied.

"Okay, we'll think about it later..."

He remained calm for a few seconds and sighed.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing... it just seems far-fetched to me."

"...You think I'm crazy," I said.

"No. I think we all become a little crazy. After what I've seen."

"Maybe," I said.

"Okay. If Derrick is trying to tell you something, we'll try to find out."

As he quickly skimmed through the book, he made a few remarks.

"According to the book, a wolf's first transformation is dangerous for him and those around him. There will be a full moon at 10 pm, and to limit the damage, he must be kept locked up until an alpha arrives to tame him. In these conditions, this transformation has two obvious outcomes."

"Either the omega dies, or he survives and becomes a member of the pack. But Nate has no idea how to find his alpha. Neither do we," I said.

"There's not enough time for us to find one. And it's too dangerous for us to go looking for a wolf."

"What should we do then?" I asked.

"We don't have a choice... For safety's sake, we'll lock him up somewhere and hope he survives the transformation."

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm trying to call him." Dialing his number

"That's pointless. Let's go there right now. Call Rose instead," I said as we left the library.

"Okay. Wait... How do you know I have Rose's number?"

"I saw you take it the other night," I replied.

***

A few hours later, we arrived at the Sullivan's. Rose greeted us with a lot of enthusiasm. It seemed like she was happy to see her Oliver again.

"How's your last year of high school going?"

"Great," Rose replied.

I was starting to get bored watching the two of them being shy. If this continued, I was going to burn out the candle.

"Oliver!" I tapped him on the shoulder.

"Oh, um... We're looking for your brother. Is he here?" Oliver asked.

"No, he went out earlier. He told me not to wait for him for dinner. But that I didn't have to worry," Rose replied.

"Do you know where he went?" I asked.

"No. He didn't tell me anything about it. What do you need?" Rose asked.

"Oh yeah, um... We have an assignment to do together and we were supposed to go to his place to work on it. Since he's not answering our calls, we thought we could go through you to reach him," I lied.

"Okay... I'll call him," Rose said.

She dialed Nate's number and after several seconds, he finally answered.

"Hello, big brother. Don't be mad, but I was worried about your assignment," Rose said.

She immediately handed me the phone and I walked away, while Oliver tried to distract Rose.

"Nate."

"Felicia..."

"Where are you?"

"Far away," he replied coldly.

I looked behind me and lowered my voice to avoid Rose listening to what I was about to say.

"Nate, I don't know where you are. But tomorrow is the full moon and..."

"And I will undergo my first transformation. That's why I left. I told you not to get involved in my business anymore. It's too dangerous."

I barely had time to say another word before he hung up.

I went back to Oliver and Rose, intrigued.

"So, what did he say?"

"Well, we're going to have to work just the two of us." I said

"Are you sure about that?" Rose asked

"Oh, yes, don't worry. You know your brother is very absent-minded and somewhat solitary. Sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns, so to speak."

"Yeah, that's true. And it makes me happy to see that he's making new friends again."

"Well, goodbye then?"

"Oh! Oliver... You forgot your bracelet the other night." Extending it to him

"Keep it. I think it would look good on you."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, well...if you don't like it, I..."

"No, it's fine. It's very pretty."

"Oliver..." I said, exasperated.

"Well, I'll leave you then." Walking away

"Nate will kill you if he finds out you have a crush on his sister," I said.

"That's not true, I don't have a crush on her. I just appreciate her."

"That's what they all say."

"And so what happened on the phone?"

"He already knows about the full moon. That's why he left."

"Did he tell you if he found his alpha?" he asked

"No, he didn't tell me anything."

We walked through the courtyard and I was in a hurry without knowing where I was really going.

My heart was beating at an abnormal pace and my breathing was erratic.

I didn't notice what was happening to me until Oliver pointed it out.

"Slow down, Felicia...Felicia!" He shouted

I stopped and looked at him, surprised. "What's the matter?"

"Your hair. How did you do that?"

"What...what are you talking about?"

We left the estate and I stood in front of the rearview mirror of his car.

"What...my hair...what's happening? Why are my hair red?" I exclaimed.

"And why is all this happening to me?" Oliver said

***

On the Bryansford side, Nate had joined Tyler in a huge castle.

"Sullivan, welcome home! I present to you Nathaniel Sullivan, a newcomer. Treat him well. He's the son of an old friend."

"I'm just here so you can help me not die."

"Of course, that's why wolves evolve in packs. Chloe, you'll take care of him and tell him everything he needs to know." Tyler said

Chloe asked then "Why me? Karyn and Kyle can do it, right?"

"Don't question my orders."

She sighed and approached Nate, irritated.

"Try to hook up with him at least." Karyn said with humour

He's twin replied "Do it before tomorrow night. You never know, he might not survive either."

"Come on, Kyle, his ex died because he was weak. He, on the other hand, looks well-built."

Chloé got angry "If you mention Brandon one more time, I swear I'll..."

Tyler interrupted "Calm down. Don't destroy the living room with your nonsense. Anyway, I have a lot to do. I'll be back tomorrow night. In the meantime, give him what he needs to relax and make sure all preparations are ready. See you later!"

***

"Are there only four of you in this castle?" Nate asked to Chloé

"No. There are a little over ten of us. The others just aren't here. They have their own lives to manage. Follow me." She replied, walking down the hallway.

"And why are you here?"

"Tyler wanted us to be here to welcome you."

"I already don't like it here, that's for sure." He said annoyed

"Watch your language!"

"Pff, whatever."

She turned to him, her chin slightly raised and her eyes turning green. "Do you know what this look means?"

"You're a Beta." Nate replied scared

"Exactly, and the Wolf twins from earlier are too. They're actually the strongest of all of us. Here, you're still the only Omega. Well, if you survive. So be careful."

She pushed the door behind Nate and it opened to a large, tidy room. "This is where you'll spend the night. The shower is inside. I hope you like red meat. That's tonight's menu. Any other questions?"

"Why did you choose a domain in Bryansford?"

"To be closer to Tollymore. That's where your transformation will take place. And yes, that forest is not just an amusement park. Hurry up, otherwise the night will be long."

***

I had spent the rest of my night in my room, not understanding what was happening to my hair. Oliver hadn't left me, though. He stayed with me until dawn.

I got up around 7 o'clock and went to the shower to wash my face when I looked at my reflection in the mirror and realized that my hair had turned back to jet black.

I left the bathroom and went to wake him up.

"Hey!"

"Hmm! No, Rose, let me show you how to ride..."

"Oliver!" I shouted

He jumped out of his chair and almost fell. "Big pervert!"

"What's wrong?"

"My hair has returned to its normal color."

"I see, even though we still don't know why."

"You seem calm for someone who has been discovering strange things lately. Aren't you afraid of all this?"

"Very much so. But you have to be more scared than me. Nate too. Besides, it wasn't the first time I had seen a Wolf. When I was little, I saw one. But fortunately, he didn't do anything to me. I always thought I was hallucinating, although deep down I knew the truth. And when I saw Nate, I immediately knew who he was."

"I see."

He got up and went into the bathroom.

I was standing by the desk and noticed that he had done several researches on the Wolves while I was sleeping.

The book was open to a clearing that seemed familiar to me. When I placed my hands on it, flashes of images crossed my mind and I saw Nate with several wolves.

"Felicia, are you okay?" Oliver asked

I wanted to tell him what I had seen, but for no reason, I held back.

_Felicia, you're losing it for sure._

"I'm fine. I just remembered I have to work this afternoon."

"Okay, as for Nate, we'll just wait for him to come back, okay?" He said

We finally parted ways, and on the way to work, I realized I had missed calls from Jade and Alicia. But still no sign of Nate.

I had to think about responding to them once I had a clear head.

The day went by without any hiccups. Although I sometimes had my thoughts elsewhere, I managed to avoid it being noticed.

As a result, I didn't see the time pass.

I had put on a cap just in case my hair changed color again.

As I was about to leave the office, a headache hit me, and I leaned against the wall.

I was having more flashes.

I saw Nate, and in front of him was an alpha who ordered him to kill someone that I had a hard time seeing.

Mrs. Grey came out of her office, and my vision stopped at the barriers of Tollymore Forest.

Mrs. Grey asked "Are you okay?"

"Yes, ma'am. It must be fatigue."

"Perhaps pregnancy fatigue?"

I would have really preferred it to be just that...

"Good evening, ma'am."

I got off the building, and my phone started ringing.

It was Jade.

I ignored her call and put my phone in my jacket pocket.

I was about to call a taxi when suddenly my heart skipped a beat.

I had to go to Tollymore. I felt it deep inside me. Nate was in danger!

But what would I do there? I'm not even able to defend myself.

This need was so strong that I ended up taking the road to the forest.

I looked at my watch and saw that it was already 7 pm.

I had to hurry. I didn't know why, but I had to stop something.

What was it about?

Nate, wait for me...
