Chapter 5 In no time

Happy, Herieth laughed secretly. She believed that he would be the one to beg her to enter her room soon. The man was playing with a hot burning blaze.

"And also, don't bother Manu." Roman gave her another look.

"Manu?" Herieth was shocked. "You already have a son?"

Roman didn't answer the silly question, instead, he raised his eyes emphatically and told her curtly. "Take good care of him. Make sure he gets his food three times a day." As soon as he finished his sentence, he left straight away.

Herieth was so shocked that she forgot to follow Roman again. Although she had prepared herself to marry someone she didn't love, she wasn't quite ready to be a stepmother to any child. She stood on the side of the road for half an hour brooding, thinking about her confusing future identity-namely, 'Manu's' stepmother and Zack's aunt...

Finally, Herieth ran to the mall to buy toys for the child. The child named 'Manu' was supposed to be a boy. After choosing several types of toy cars and Lego sets, she drove to Oyster Bay and anchored on Buzwagi Street in front of the house Roman pointed out.

Carrying various things, she took a deep breath in front of the door while entering the code to open the gate. The gate opened and there was no guard. When she got to the front door she entered the code again into the lock and the door opened without hesitation. A friendly smile spread across her face as he loudly shouted, "Manu! Manu! Hello! Manu-"

"Meo!" The cat's voice greeted Herieth.

Surprised, Herieth blinked and called again, "Manu?"

Manu was a fat cat with a white body and fluffy black and white ears. He was seen lazily lying on the couch. He let out a beautiful voice in the quiet living room, "Meowww!"

Herieth was stunned!

After the fat cat stretched its body, it jumped under the couch and went to Herieth 's feet to sniff the package she was carrying thinking it was food. Seeing nothing of interest, Manu returned to the couch and lay proudly on it.

Herieth was speechless. Roman should have told her this sooner. She had spent a lot of time worrying about being a stepmother! Now she has met a cat instead of the one she expected. she was tired! Despite this, the clean-furred cat was charming and attractive to her.

Herieth moved forward, lifting him to pinch his chubby cheeks, but the cat darted into Roman's bedroom with lightning speed. Roman's bedroom, a place Herieth was not allowed to set foot in according to the terms of their marriage.

Herieth took a deep breath and sat up. Then, she looked around the house which had three bedrooms and two lounges. There was a master bedroom, Roman's own, a guest room, and a study, or library.

The interior decoration of the house was simply 'simple', decorated in a modern style using black, white, and grey as its main colour scheme. It was pleasant but gave off a paralyzing and dull feeling at the same time. That show probably didn't cost much.

'Is this Zack's uncle's house?' Herieth asked herself. she had heard that Zack's uncle is a very successful entrepreneur abroad. It was one thing if he chose not to live in a large magazine house, but there was no indication that the person who lived there was a very successful man. Not to mention the bookshelves in the study room were filled with legal books, such as 'The Science of Law', 'The Law Society Gazette', and 'Are We Slaves to Our Genes?'

Herieth had a bad feeling. Wasn't that man Zack's uncle? No, that would not be possible! Tina might be careless at times, but with such a serious matter, she couldn't have made a mistake. Herieth did not want to believe that the outcome had mistakes in it.

Overthinking bored Herieth. She took her phone to call her friend Tina. "Are you sure he's Zack's uncle?" she asked immediately after her friend picked up the phone.

"It's true I heard from my brother. He even had lunch with him before." Tina answered and asked, "How did things go?"

Calming down, Herieth patted her chest from fear. "I was afraid that I was married to a different man."

"My God, are you married to him?" An exclamation of surprise rang through the phone. "did he appear?"

"Uh-huh," Herieth answered on the other end of the phone, Tina's eyes were brimming with tears. "We promised each other to be each other's angels. How could you leave me in the blink of an eye?" Those words made Herieth feel sad again. He wanted to talk to you but his words got stuck in his throat. "Okay, you and your husband should serve me a meal at least," Herieth whispered.

"Um... Nothing is going on between us, it's just a contract marriage." Herieth found the courage to explain the conditions they had set for each other with the man.

"You look very good but love has not been easy for you." Tina expressed her sympathy. "But don't worry, I'm sure he'll surrender to you in no time, maybe not with your looks and shape."

"I believe so too." Herieth agreed.

After the phone hung up, Herieth went down to the nearest supermarket. His new home was very cold and it seemed to be burning in his eyes. It didn't deserve to be called a house. It needed new requirements. Exciting ones.
