Chapter 9 What could go wrong

Hera P.o.v

Bored.

I was so freaking bored.

Damon's eyes were glued on me while he taught and for some reason that seemed to piss off Sally and her two minions, but what was worse was the fact that I was given a seat next to Sally's hot boyfriend.

When Damon asked me to sit in front next to him I couldn't say no. After all, he was my lecturer.

A tap on my hand snapped me out of my thoughts.

I quickly faced Sally's boyfriend who had a smile across his face.

"He just asked you a question." He mouthed out the words.

I swallowed hard and slowly lifted my hand and pointed at myself.

Was he talking to me?. I didn't want to think much about it but the guy was definitely very popular. The fact that he was dating Sally proved it.

"Me?" I asked in a whisper.

He chuckled softly then shook his head.

"It looks like I didn't speak out loud. I asked you young lady if you had introduced yourself to your fellow students." Damon said loudly.

I met his gaze and quickly stood up.

"Yes, I did Sir." I answered as a smirk formed across his face.

What was he trying to do?. Was it fun having me act like this.

"Good, you may sit down." He ordered then picked up the book on the table.

He glanced at me again before walking out of the room and the alarm immediately sounded.

Everyone started talking while some got up and walked out of the room.

I was about to stand up when a hand on my thigh stopped me.

"I didn't get to introduce myself. I'm Pit and you are?" He asked calmly.

"Not interested," I answered under my breath.

I wanted to be bold but I was sadly failing badly. Getting to know him meant offending Sally and her friends. If I wanted a peaceful college life then I needed to stay away from him.

"What?" He asked with a frown across his face.

"Hera, my name is Hera." I answered then bite my lower lip slightly. How the hell was I easily giving in.

"Hera nice to meet you. Me and the girls are going to hang out, would you like to join us?" He asked softly.

No. No way was I going to join.

"We won't act nosy, I promise." He whispered.

I found myself nodding my head in agreement with his proposal.

"Great, come on. Sally and the girls already went ahead, after all, we have no classes to attend today." He said while standing up.

I quickly grabbed my bag and stood up as well.

"Let's go." He said then walked ahead.

I quickly followed him behind, trying too hard to match his pace.

A lot of students were moving back and forth in the corridor while some were walking at a fast pace.

"Is this college always busy?" I asked dumbly.

"What do you mean by busy?" He asked as he walked out of the place.

"Like a lot of students moving around?" I asked softly.

"Well yes, most of the students are usually rushing for classes while some rush for sports." He answered simply.

"Oh, I see." I answered.

"You don't talk much do you?" He asked.

"Well, it depends with people I'm with." I answered then looked ahead and noticed that Sally was happily chatting to Hailey, Elisa, and two other guys.

"You know, you should feel free to ask me anything. I would gladly answer." He said then waved at Sally who quickly looked at me coldly for just a split second then smiled.

"Um... Is it okay to join her and her friends?" I asked in a low tone.

"Of course." He answered then walked ahead.

When he stood in front of her, he curved his hand around her waist and kissed her lips lightly.

"I hope you don't mind. I brought someone along." He said as they all looked at me.

I uncomfortably moved closer and stood in front of them.

"Hey." I greeted.

She smiled then extended her hand to slightly wave again.

"Welcome to our group. As you already know, these two women on my right are my close friends Hailey and Elisa. These two men on my left are also my close friends. The one with blond hair is John and the one with short black hair is Luke." She introduced.

"Hey."

"Watsup."

They greeted together.

"Luke, John. This is Hera, our new friend who will be joining the cheerleading squad soon." She said with pride.

I frowned slightly then faked a wide smile.

A part of me was uncomfortable with hanging out with them. But then again what I truly wanted was to have friends, I wanted to belong and feel like I did in the past.

"Great, so Hera, we were thinking of going to the river for a swim, Want to come?" Pit asked.

"If you guys don't mind," I answered honestly.

"We don't," Sally said then grabbed my hand and walked with me to the Mercedes-Benz s-class that was parked ahead.

"Get in." She said seriously while she opened the door to the driver's seat.

"In front?" I asked in shock.

"Of course. Hailey and Elisa love the back." She answered.

I went round the car and opened the front seat door with a smile. As soon as I got in I shut the door, sitting very comfortably.

The car was expensive and judging from how Sally acted, I was certain she was some rich spoiled lady. Whose father and mother were obviously well to do.

"Buckle up." She said with a giggle when the two ladies got in as well.

"This will be fun." She muttered before starting the car and driving away.

I looked outside the window with a wide smile admiring the grass and trees I could see.

"Ladies aren't you excited?" Sally asked happily.

"Like yeah, we are!" The two ladies exclaimed from behind.

"And you Hera?" She asked.

"I am," I answered then leaned against the seat.

After what seemed like an hour, Sally pulled over and parked the car at the edge of the river.

"We are here." She announced then opened the door and came out.

I too followed suit with the two ladies.

Behind her was a BMW X5 M parked. Pit was leaning against it while chatting to Luke and John.

"Hey guys come closer." Sally announced.

They quickly moved closer and stood in a circle.

"Hey Hera, you would like to join us and be friends with us right?" Sally asked seriously.

I frowned then nodded.

"Good, see that canoe behind you?" She asked.

I turned and looked at it.

"Yes." I answered.

"As an initiation to our group, you will have to puddle to the other side of the river, grab proof that you were there be it a branch or stick then puddle back here." She said shocking me.

"What?" I asked in disbelief.

"We all went through that." Pit pointed out.

"No, I'm not doing it." I answered quickly.

"Why?. I thought you wanted to be a part of us. Or do you prefer to hang out with the nerds and be picked on?" Luke asked between laughter as I held in my breath.

The memories of being hit, mocked and laughed at were still fresh in my mind. I couldn't go through that again. Not now, not ever!. I didn't want to live such a horrible college life.

"I'll do it," I answered then swallowed hard.

"Good, we will be here waiting." She said.

I sighed then walked to the canoe. I knew how to puddle and it wasn't yet evening.

If they did it, then that meant crossing the river was much easier than I thought. After all, what could go wrong?.
