Chapter 5 Call Off The Marriage

"I'll ask the servants to bring Noreen here." After saying that, Gerardo shot the servants a look, urging them to bring Noreen here.

When Melany first saw Henrik, his cold and mysterious aura attracted her.

If he weren't disabled, she would've definitely married him.

She walked up to him and said, "Mr. Sanchez, my sister has a bad temper. You-"

"Fuck off!" Henrik snapped at her before she could finish her words.

The volume of his voice and his harshness startled Melany, forcing her to cower back with an aggrieved look. Even though her lips were already quivering, she forced herself to open her mouth and say, "Mr. Sanchez!"

But Henrik was ruthless. With just a look, he ordered a bodyguard to cover her mouth and drag her out of the villa.

Gerardo watched this unfold with pursed lips. Even though he was dissatisfied with how they treated his daughter, he didn't dare to say anything.

After a while, the servants brought Noreen over.

When Henrik saw that there was a scratch on her delicate face, his face darkened. His eyes turned sharp like daggers as his expression simmered in a quiet rage.

"Who did it?" Henrik asked him coldly.

"I..." Gerardo didn't know how to respond. Noreen was fine just now.

"Do you know what you should do?"

"Yes, yes. I know."

Gerardo vigorously nodded and asked the servants to retrieve the surveillance footage. He was shocked when he saw Melany come out of the basement.

He had never thought that Melany, who had such an angelic face, was capable of doing such a thing.

"There must be some misunderstanding here. You see, Melany..."

Henrik wasn't in the mood to hear Gerardo's explanation. Instead, he ordered the bodyguard to drag Melany in. Connie wanted to save her, but she was blocked by another bodyguard. The only thing she could do was watch in anxiety.

"No! Please! Listen to me! Dad, Mom! Help me!"

The bodyguard gagged Melany's mouth and slapped her face until she stopped making a noise. When he let go of her, her face was already red and swollen.

Noreen stared at Melany, who had just collapsed on the floor. Then, her eyes slowly raised to meet Henrik's.

She felt that his voice sounded a lot like her husband's. The familiarity of his voice made Noreen view him under a different light. Perhaps he wasn't as terrible as the rumors had painted him.

She swallowed hard and gathered all the courage she could muster. "Mr. Sanchez, I can't marry you because I'm already married."

"Shut up! You..." Gerardo felt furious about what had happened to Melany and wanted to vent it on Noreen. He was about to slap her when Henrik's cold glance made him stop midair.

"What did you say?" Henrik said.

A nervous smile broke on Gerardo's lips. "Ah, well, don't listen to her nonsense..."

Henrik ignored Gerardo and turned his attention to Noreen. "Let's call off the marriage then."

Although her knees were quivering in fear, she still tried to straighten her back and appear composed.

Seeing this, he couldn't help but admire her.

Meanwhile, Noreen's eyes widened in disbelief.

She couldn't believe her ears. Did he just call off their marriage?

Even Gerardo was dumbfounded by this pronouncement. When he realized what had happened, he knelt down in front of Henrik and begged, "Mr. Sanchez! The marriage can't be called off."

Henrik snorted in disdain. This man was too noisy!

When the bodyguard saw the frown form on Henrik's face, he immediately knew what he needed to do. He hit Gerardo on the back of the neck and knocked him out.

Henrik looked at Noreen, who still had a stunned expression. "Do you want to leave or what?" he asked.

"Yes, I want to leave!" Noreen snapped out of her daze and followed him out.

One after the other, the four Bentley cars and the Rolls-Royce drove away.

When the cars had finally disappeared from her sight, Noreen exhaled a relieved sigh.

For a second, she was afraid that he might suddenly turn the car around and drag her inside.

The marriage had successfully been called off. The feeling of freedom rushed into her lungs and made her ecstatic.

Seeing the jubilant look on her face, Henrik withdrew his eyes away from the rearview mirror.

It turned out that she wasn't keen on hiding her dislike for him at all.

At four o'clock in the afternoon, Noreen stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom. With a frown, she carefully applied the medicine to the wound on her face using a cotton swab.

After leaving the Wheeler family's house, she went straight to the hospital. There, the doctor told her that there was nothing serious about her wound, and that she would be fine after applying the ointment for just a few days.

At this time, the door was slightly ajar. Noreen poked her head out and saw Henrik come in.

He was wearing a pair of Martin boots and a jumpsuit. He truly looked handsome and eye-catching.

"Why did you get off work so early today?" Noreen asked.

"I didn't have any work to do, so I came back earlier." Henrik put on his slippers and walked to her side. Then, he turned on the tap and washed his hands.

After that, he looked at the mirror and saw the wound on her face.

"What happened?" Henrik asked while knowing the answer.

"Umm... I accidentally fell." As she spoke, Noreen sank her head and kept her eyes away from him. There was guilt written all over her face, and it was so easy to tell that she was lying.

"You fell?"

"Yes."

Henrik didn't pry any further after that. However, when he looked at her wound at such a close distance, the rage inside him boiled again.

This sudden feeling surprised him. In the face of complicated family relationships and dangerous living environment, he was always able to keep a calm mind no matter what. However, the sight of a wound on her face almost made him lose control.

He frowned slightly and suppressed this strange feeling. Then, he shrugged it off his mind and thought nothing more about it.
