Chapter 4 Come To Rescue

The basement felt cold and damp.

Noreen, whose wrists and ankles were both tied, huddled up in a corner.

Since her phone was taken away, she couldn't contact anyone.

Henrik was busy working, and he had no idea that she was taken away. He wouldn't be able to come to her rescue.

What should she do?

Noreen closed her eyes in helplessness as she let herself wallow in despair.

In the car repair shop, Henrik's phone was ringing. He stopped working for a while and answered the phone.

"Sir, the Wheeler family had just called me, and they're asking you to pick up the bride."

Henrik's face scrunched. "Pick up the bride?"

"Yes. They said that the bride who ran away is now back."

"I see."

As soon as Henrik hung up the phone, his handsome face darkened.

Even though he didn't think of it as a serious marriage, Noreen was already his wife legally.

No one was ever allowed to hurt his woman.

Creak! The door to the basement suddenly swung open.

When Noreen looked up, she saw Melany and shot her a cold stare.

"Noreen, isn't it beautiful?" Melany walked up to her and bent down so that the beautiful jade pendant around her neck would be at eye-level.

"Give it back to me!" Noreen cried, glaring at her with gritted teeth.

Noreen had been wearing this pendant ever since she was a child. Connie said that she had bought it for Noreen, so Noreen wore it for so many years. However, as soon as Melany came back, she took it away from her.

"Give it back to you? No way! Noreen, everything that belongs to you will be mine. Everything! The pendant, Fraser, they're both mine! So what if you and Fraser grew up together? In the end, he still chose me."

As Melany stared at Noreen's beautiful face, her heart was filled with jealousy and hatred.

She had a strong urge to slash her face with a knife.

However, when she thought of Noreen getting married to that disabled man, it made her feel better.

"Noreen, the disabled man will come pick you up later. Congratulations. I heard that he's a perverted man and has tortured several women to death. Whenever I think of how you'll be tortured to death by him, I can't stop myself from smiling."

"Fuck off!" Noreen's eyes were burning with so much hatred that it could incinerate anyone who was subjected to her gaze.

She didn't know why Melany hated her so much that she wanted her to die.

She had given everything to Melany. She had helped her get fame, wealth, and status. Despite that, Melany still held a grudge against her.

"This is the invitation to the engagement party of Fraser and me. I don't know if you'll still be alive by then. Everyone-Dad, Mom, Fraser-has given up on you. You're so pitiful!"

After saying that, Melany threw the invitation on Noreen's face. Its sharp edge slightly scratched her delicate cheek.

After Melany left, Noreen was alone once again. Her body shivered as she leaned against the cold wall, her teeth digging deep on her lip as she fought back the tears.

She couldn't cry.

After a while, she could already taste the blood in her mouth.

No matter what, she had to survive, and only when she was alive, there was hope.

Melany came out of the basement and put the pendant back into her drawer.

Her mother had told her that Noreen was wearing this pendant when she was found as a baby. This was not an ordinary pendant; one day, it might be of great use.

Half an hour later, several luxury cars stopped in front of the gate of the Wheeler family's villa.

Gerardo, who had been waiting anxiously in the villa, came out as soon as he saw the cars.

Although Henrik was recuperating in Bladiff and wasn't managing the group, he was still the heir of the Sanchez family in Abliver. As long as he was willing to give them some benefits, they would be able to live a rich life for the rest of their lives.

The door of the Rolls-Royce opened. Enrique Miller, Henrik's assistant, pushed out Henrik, who was sitting in a wheelchair and was wearing a mask.

The mask had a golden hue that shimmered under the light, covering most of his face. It gave him an air of mystery and nobility at the same time. However, it also gave him a terrifying aura.

"Mr. Sanchez..." Gerardo tried to flatter him, but Henrik raised his hand to stop him.

Henrik headed straight to the living room and glanced around. There was no sign of Noreen anywhere. His eyes began to narrow as his face darkened.

"Where is she?" he asked, the coldness of his voice turning the atmosphere into winter.
