Even Stacy could handle herself in such a situation but I couldn't, I'm too weak, and maybe a part of me was hoping someone would come to my aid, but I shouldn't.
I should stand on my own, and defend myself, how was I supposed to protect anyone if I I'm this weak?
If that man had not arrived the time he did, I would have been assaulted, it was a lot to take in but it is the truth.
A sigh escaped my lips as the female servants in the mansion hovered around me.
That man.
He saved me and I haven't even said thank you. He left before I could say anything but I couldn't forget his gaze or his eyes.
It was crazy but I found myself thinking about him sometimes, that I had to chide myself for letting my thought wander back to him.
He had a strong aura, and though I couldn't smell any scent on him, I was sure that he was not human.
That night I couldn't stay in the club any longer because of the Alpha's men, I didn't how they trailed me but when I thought about it, I guessed it wouldn't be that hard, the club is after all very close to werewolves' territory.
Thankfully Stacy and I were able to escape through the back entrance before they could find us but I knew it wasn't over.
If the Alpha had sent his men to find me, it only meant that he already knew I left the mansion.
I was confined to my room for two days as punishment but I couldn't exactly consider it to be a punishment because when I thought about it not much changed. The only difference is that I'm allowed to visit the garden, library, or anywhere in the mansion, I could only stay in my room and serve my punishment, I'll say it is just a slightly higher level of confinement as compared to what I have become used to.
Before I was confined for two days as punishment, I was already being confined to the mansion for three years now.
Yes, I've spent the three years of my existence confined by the walls of the mansion, as crazy as it sounds.
I was kept away from my people on the pretext of being the only hope for my kind.
I struggled not the laugh at the irony of the situation.
I'm supposed to be the hope for my kind, the ruler, and rescuer, but yet I felt nothing of that, rather I felt like the weakest of my kind.
I'm supposed to be the Oracle.
The interceder between both worlds, a force with great power, at least that's what everyone thought I am but I'm no ruler or interceder with great power, that's just what they thought of me.
But I knew better, I was no Oracle.
My life was ruined for this sole reason, I lost everything, and I know that there are chances that I might lose more.
At first I thought I was just weak and wolfless but that all changed on my eighteenth birthday.
"My Lady," One of the female servants called."You're ready."
"Well, would you look at that? you're ready, your Highness."
I heard a voice from the door to my room.
"Lady, Rachel," I called out on recognizing the voice.
It is none other than lady Rachel, the head maid of the mansion.
"Good morning your Highness." She greeted me with a bow.
"Good morning Lady Rachel" I reciprocated her greeting.
The maids were already moving out of my room, probably to tend to one thing or the other.
"You're looking very beautiful your Highness, today is indeed a glorious day to celebrate and be remembered, in all werewolf history,"
"I guess so." I let out as I walked toward the balcony.
"How do you feel your highness?"
I sigh escaped my lips as I closed my eyes.
"I don't know Lady Rachel, I'm happy to be introduced to everyone again after three years of staying away, but then again I don't know," I paused for a moment sucking some air into my lungs before I exhaled."I thought I'll be more excited, I'm not saying I'm not but I've been feeling uneasy since early this morning...I know it might sound crazy but I don't know why I have this ominous feeling, that something bad is about to happen."
"Were there any visions?"
Lady Rachel came to stand beside me on the balcony, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"No," I replied,
"Then there's nothing to worry about my dear,"
"But what if I'm feeling this way because I'm going to make a mistake and screw the whole thing up."
Lady Rachel chuckled slightly at my words." You only feel this way because you are their princess, and you're pressured, I know you want to make a good first impression but you're feeling uneasy because you're unsure of how to follow up, but you've sacrificed three years your life for this, just don't force it, let it flow naturally, you were born to be a queen after all"
"I wish I could take it that easily."
"You'll do great," Lady Rachel reassured, giving my shoulder a light Squeeze before she grabbed my hands in hers.
"You know your uncle had this same expression on his face when he was about to take on the position of Alpha."
"...."
"You looked surprised." She giggled.
"Well to be honest, yes," I breath out." I mean I can never imagine, my uncle ever being this nervous, he's always calm and in control whenever I meet,"
"That's because he has to be, for the pack, but don't tell him I told you that."
"I won't, my lips are sealed."
"Come, I have something for you."
Lady Rachel pulled my hand slightly, bringing me back into the room.
I could only wonder what she wanted to give to me.
She walked to my bed and picked up a box and book resting on my bed then she turned to me, with a smile on her face.
I wondered where the box and book came from because there was never a box or book on the bed initially.
"Here, this belongs to you,"
"Me?" I uttered,
"Yes, you, it belongs to you, open it"
I slowly unwrapped the package only to see a necklace in it, it was made of gold and silver with a red crystal, hanging in the middle, it looked ancient but no less pleasant.
So beautiful that I couldn't take my eyes away from it, I could tell that it is not an ordinary accessory.
"It belonged to your, mom,"
I snapped my head up when these words left Lady Rachel's lips.
"She wanted you to have it when you turned eighteen, but since that is only some months from now, and you'll be leaving the pack soon, I decided to give it to you now."
"It's beautiful, thank you."
"You're welcome your Highness, your parents would be so proud if they could see you now, you've grown into such a beautiful and wise young woman, living up to their expectations."
"I'm afraid that I have not, I have disappointed them, I'm not worth the sacrifice they have made."
"No, your Highness, you have, the people look up to you,"
"But my powers, they are yet to fully manifest, I'm afraid that they won't, I am not good enough, everyone is expecting me to perform a miracle but I don't know how,"
"Your body carries immense power, your highness, now this power must manifest slowly or it could be destructive for your body to hold, but I want you to remember that not all miracles are made by magic, though your powers are yet to fully manifest, they will in due time,"
"For how long Lady Rachel," I turned to her in desperation." For how long, I will be turning eighteen in a few months, and I am afraid that I am not worthy"
"Trust in yourself your highness and let your heart guide you, this was something your mother usually said, and now I'm saying it to you."
Lady Rachel walked to me, holding me by my shoulders, as she met my gaze.
"You are ready, let me help you with that," She took the necklace from my hands and shifted my blonde locks to the side, putting the necklace around my neck.
"Oh my, it looks perfect on your Highness, almost like it was customized"
I let my hands feel the necklace as I gazed at my reflection in the mirror.
The red gem hanging in the middle contrasted beautifully with the white, dress and blond hair.
"I think I'm ready." She let out confidently as I turned to Lady Rachel who was happily watching me from the side, then she stretched out her hand holding the book.
"Here, this is also for you."
"What is it?" I asked taking the book from her hand.
"It's an ancient book with a lot of wisdom, no one was able to interpret the writings but you did, it was once under your father's custody before everything, he wanted you to have it when you come of age, he said it would guide you through your journey."
"Thank you."
"You are most welcome your Highness."
"Are they here yet?"I asked turning back to the mirror.
"Not yet, your Highness, the Alpha has sent a representative, we are just waiting for a reply but I'm sure they'll be here soon."
Silence befell us until Lady Rachel broke the silence.
"How do you feel about him?" Lady Rachel inquired and I turned around to meet her gaze.
"What do you mean?"
"It's been ten years since you two last saw each other, now knowing that you both are going to be joined together in marriage, how do you feel?"
"I'm not sure, I've known him for years but for those years we've known each other, I never saw him intimately, though I'm excited to meet him,"
"I see."
"But love is something that can be developed, it just needs time," I paused slightly before I continued. "But you know Love is the least of my worries," I gazed at my hand, clenching and unclenching my fist. "This is my responsibility, and I am happy and willing to do it for my people, when you look at the situation, you'll see that I have little to offer other than doing this."
"...."
"I just want to be the proper Ruler to my people, now I don't just seek to lead and guide them but also to stand by them, so when I look at everything, I realize that nothing else matters."
"...."
"But besides that I'm excited to see him, and more excited to see my brother,"
"I'm sure he'll be excited to see you as well your highness,"
"I think It's is time, let us go Lady Rachel"
"""'
I took a silent breath as I stood outside the door to the grand hall waiting for the herald to announce my entrance, royal guards to my left and right.
" Let us welcome, her royal Highness, the divine Oracle, interceptor, and high priestess,""
The door to the grand hall opened and as soon as I set foot into the room, I felt all eyes on me.
I noticed the widened eyes, opened mouths, and hitched breaths.
They stared at me like I was mesmerizing like my aura commanded respect, an expression they never gave me before, it's crazy how just three years could change a lot of things.
I saw it all in their eyes, the love and respect, they really held me in high regard.
I shifted my gaze from them to the throne, as we neared the center of the room.
He is there seating silently as he watched me from where he sat on the throne.
His long black hair cascaded down his back, he was wearing a red velvety royal robe, adorned with golden embroideries.
I curtsied as we finally reached the center of the room, then I lifted my head once more, gazing at the man who had kept me confined to this mansion for three years.
The Alpha.
