Chapter 4 4- Assistant

SEAN'S POV

I wanted to laugh at how Rose looked at me as I prepared our breakfast. She followed me when I told her to bring the rest of the cooked food to the dining table. I was sure she was thinking about how I looked. She stared at me for a while before I called her attention. Her face was red, so asking her to help me would lessen her embarrassment at getting caught.

We ate together, and she was quiet, maybe thinking about how or what she should do when we arrived at the company. It was only a small meeting, just an introduction for everyone to know that she would manage the company from now on. Teasing her early in the morning was not a good idea when I had a feeling that she was nervous. Alejandro is confident about her, and I am too. She is a very smart woman, and I know that firsthand. I have looked after her since she started college.

Not to brag, but I am smart too. I finished college ahead of everyone my age because I skipped some grade levels many times. I was in the military when I decided to look after Alejandro instead. And to my dismay, he asked me to look after his granddaughter, Rose. To make a long story short, I agreed with him, followed Rose wherever she went, and looked after whatever she did. I watched her do her training and, at the same time, her studies. She's a combination of beauty and brains, as well as strength.

Now, I watched her dominate the meeting room. She was nervous at first but managed to get on her feet and make everyone submit to her. I know that there are still some who don't like her. However, I am here to ensure her safety if threats arise. "Make sure all necessary reports are on my desk tomorrow morning. Be prepared to answer all of my questions once I read them and find some questionable transactions. Be ready for rewards when I find everything in order." She said this before she got up from her seat. After that, we proceeded to her office.

Mr. Colt followed us as he informed her about other things, and she nodded from time to time. I'm sure she still didn't know about her assistant, and I prepared for her complaint. "Grandpa, is it okay if I hire my own assistant?" She asked after she dialed Alejandro's number. I just looked at her and smirked when she looked at me, shocked.

"I thought he was my bodyguard?" She asked, "Then why is he my assistant too?" She followed up after she had received a reply from her grandfather. I waited until they finished talking and saw her massaging her nose bridge. She must be really pissed after learning about me being her official assistant.

"Alright, you don't have to use your health as an excuse because we both know you're still as strong as a bull," she replied after taking a deep breath. "Okay, bye, Grandpa... I love you too." Then she hung up the phone and looked at me as though she wanted to kill me.

"You knew about it, and you didn't tell me?" she asked.

"What?" I asked, making her even more pissed.

"Don't act like you don't know!" She said angrily. "Did you have to be an assistant as well? Can't Grandpa find anyone else other than you?" She asked, and I could see that she started to get frustrated.

"You complain too much. You're just a new college graduate, but Alejandro trusts you. What's wrong with him trusting me?" I made myself look serious, so she would have to think about what I said.

"Are you comparing me to you? He's my grandpa, and he knows I love him more than anything in this world." She replied.

"I have been with Alejandro ever since I was a kid and after my father died. He took care of me, and I promised to protect him with everything I had." I told her. "I didn't want to say that we had been through a lot together because it was between me and your grandfather. However, don't underestimate me just because you're his granddaughter and I am an outsider." I added.

She was quiet, and I waited for her rebuttal, but she didn't talk after. I guess she understood my point, and I am glad that she did. This is because I am not proficient at convincing people, no matter how sincere I am. I don't know why; it always happens to me.

"Ms. Rose, these are the files from the marketing department." Mr. Colt said after he knocked, and she made him come in. He placed all the folders on her desk and waited for her instructions.

"Thank you; you may leave us." She replied, and he turned to go to the door after he glared at me. I chuckled internally, thinking he saw me as a threat to him. Well, I am. Because he will have nothing to do with Rose and the company from now on.

"Please read these and let me know what you think after reading them. I will discuss with you what I think about the rest." She said this as she pointed me to the folders she was separating.

We started reading, and it was lunchtime when I asked her, "What do you want to eat?"

"Anything," she replied without looking at me. I still, for a moment, hoped that she'd notice that I hadn't responded to her. However, she just ignored it and continued reading. Is this how she planned to work? I hope not, because Alejandro will surely not like it.

"What kind of anything?" I asked again.

"Whatever you have," she replied immediately, and I sighed in relief. At least she was still at her wits.

I took my phone and ordered our food. I made a mental note to buy groceries so I could cook our food before going to work. It will be a lot cheaper than delivery.

Our order came, and I started preparing them at the table I was at. "Let's eat." I said when I was done.

"Please bring it to me," she replied. Although she said please, I still didn't follow her.

"The food is ready here,"

"Bring it to me here," she replied again, with her eyes still on the folder she was holding.

"Do I need to carry you so I can bring you here?" I asked, and she glared at me. I held back my laughter because of that. I could see that she was pissed, maybe because I disturbed her.

"I don't want to leave this file I was reading."

"You will understand them easily if you eat first," I replied. "Now get your pretty ass here now, or I swear, I am going to carry you." I added, showing her that I was willing to do what I said if she would not come here. She got up from her seat, so I smiled. I pulled a chair for her when she was closer, and I sighed internally when she sat down. I gave her the spoon and fork, and we started eating.

"Alejandro told me that I should make sure you won't skip your meal, so you have to bear with me if I am very persistent." I told her so she wouldn't get mad or think I was deciding for her.

"Shut up and eat," she replied, continuing her meal with her eyes on her food, not even sparing me a glance. Did I say something wrong? I shrugged my shoulders and ate too.

The files have been there for years, and we haven't finished them in one sitting. We will have to tackle it again tomorrow, so I asked her to call it a day. She sighed, and I'm sure she doesn't want to go home, and her reason for agreeing with me is unknown. Nevertheless, I was glad I didn't need to argue.

We were in the car, and I told her that we needed to go to the supermarket first. I explained to her why, even before she complained and shut up. She bought some toiletries and other personal things while we were there. We went home and then had dinner. As soon as we were full, we went into our rooms. I called Alejandro to report to him about our day, and he was pleased that Rose didn't work beyond her working time. And then I decided to sleep.

I woke up earlier the next day because I still needed to cook our lunch for later. Rose was still sleeping, so I decided to wake her up after bathing. "What the--?" she said as soon as I walked out of the bathroom.
