Chapter 6 That Damned Maid

Killian's POV:

I was lying on the bed in the bedroom, surrounded by silence, but I found it hard to fall asleep. Every time I closed my eyes, the image of Nyla's tired and desperate face appeared in my mind.

What a pathetic wretch!

Why on earth would I tolerate a maid who had no wolf for so long? This woman had set me up and pretended to be innocent, even going so far as to claim she was my mate. How could she be so shameless?

I couldn't believe she had the audacity to return and want to see Raylan. Was she trying to celebrate with him that he now had the opportunity to become the Alpha?

The thought of it only made me angrier. I felt the wolf inside me become restless, and my head throbbed violently as if it were about to split open.

"Willie! Calm down!" I had no choice but to scold him.

My wolf was far from obedient. If it had been, I wouldn't have had to endure so much over the past few years. Willie was the most solitary, unruly, and irritable wolf I had ever encountered.

My headache intensified, signaling that my wolf was about to take over. This was not a good sign. If I didn't release my pent-up energy soon, Willie could lose control and go into a frenzied state.

I attempted to quell the agitation in my body and headed toward the secret room to blow off steam. Along the way, the werewolves averted their gazes and paid their respects to me.

Despite my father's announcement that he would reconsider the candidate for the next Alpha, the entire Black Moon Pack was aware that I was the most powerful werewolf.

As for Raylan, my half-brother, it was clear to everyone that he was no match for me in terms of strength.

I entered the secret room without much thought.

I had lost track of time during my stay in the secret room. It always pushed me to the brink of insanity. After coming to, I discovered that the walls were marred with deep gouges from my claws, and the room itself was teetering on the brink of collapse.

It appeared that I would have to reconstruct the secret room since it couldn't endure the eruption of my power.

Wait, what was that?

I noticed an unusual pattern on the wall and approached it curiously.

It was not a pattern. The marks on the wall seemed to be a word...

Nyla?

Nyla Higgins?

My eyes widened in disbelief as I cursed under my breath. What had I done in my wolf form? How could I have been thinking about that maid?

I angrily punched the wall, filled with shame and anger. That name was a disgrace, and I would rather destroy it!

Upon exiting the secret room, I had managed to compose myself to a certain degree, but I remained in a sour mood.

As I was making my way back, I caught sight of Alyssa in conversation with three werewolves.

Despite my confusion as to why they were conversing at such a late hour, I was not in the right state of mind to pay attention to anything.

When I was about to avoid them, I heard Nyla's name being mentioned, which made me more irritable. At the same time, I felt something peculiar. What did Alyssa have to do with Nyla?

With this in mind, I retraced my steps and approached them. "Excuse me, what are you talking about?" I asked.

I noticed that the three werewolves were a little flustered. I gave them a quick glance before my gaze settled on Alyssa.

Alyssa appeared hesitant, which made me impatient. After I clicked my tongue, she finally opened her mouth.

"Killian, my subordinates saw Nyla hooking up with a male rogue outside of the Black Moon Pack..."

So soon? What a dissolute woman!

I looked at the other werewolves, and they all raised their hands and swore.

"Yes, we swear it's true in the name of the Moon Goddess! We saw her being taken away by a male rogue!"

Taking an oath in the name of the Moon Goddess and lying was considered a grave offense. The memory of Nyla's pitiful expression when she left came to my mind, and it made me feel nauseous.

One of Alyssa's subordinates took notice of my expression and asked, "Do you want us to teach Nyla a lesson for you?"

"No need." I immediately cut him off and left without saying anything.

How could I possibly have had any kind of intimate encounter with someone like Nyla? The mere thought of it made me feel disgusted and sick to my stomach.

I was so furious that I vowed to myself that if Nyla dared to show up in front of me again, I would not hesitate to attack her and make her regret the day she crossed me.
