Chapter 8 8

I woke up early and dressed in my best attire. Today was the day that I would meet the influential werewolves as their new queen. Alpha Vladimir was out for his work, and Beta Alexander helped me in the meeting. As we walked towards the meeting room, my heart started beating faster with each step. As I entered the room, I felt all eyes on me. It was clear that they were not happy with my presence. I could sense their disdain towards me, a mere human, being chosen as their queen. I took a deep breath and reminded myself to stay calm and composed.

Beta Alexander stood beside me, his presence reassuring.

"Good morning, everyone," I greeted them with a polite smile, trying to ignore the cold stares that were directed towards me.

"What is a human doing here, as our queen?" one of the werewolves sneered.

My heart sank at the comment. I had always hated the werewolves, but I never expected them to be so openly hostile towards me. I could feel the anger boiling inside of me, but I knew that I had to remain calm.

Beta Alexander stepped forward, his voice stern. "The king has chosen her, and whoever goes against her has chosen to insult the king."

The werewolves grumbled amongst themselves, but they didn't say anything further. It was clear that they respected Alpha Vladimir and his decision.

I took a deep breath and stepped forward. "I understand that my presence here might be surprising to some of you, but I promise that I will do my best to serve as your queen."

One of the werewolves, a tall and muscular man, stepped forward. "What makes you think that you, a mere human, can lead us? We are superior beings, and we do not take orders from someone like you."

His words stung, but I refused to let him see me falter. "I may be a human, but I have been chosen by your alpha to lead you. I understand that it might be difficult for you to accept me, but I promise to earn your trust and respect."

The werewolf snorted and crossed his arms. "We'll see about that."

The rest of the meeting went on in a similar vein. The werewolves were openly hostile towards me, and I could feel the anger boiling inside of me. But I refused to let them see me break.

As the meeting came to an end, I could feel the relief washing over me. I had survived my first encounter with the werewolves, but it was clear that I had a long way to go to earn their respect and trust.

Beta Alexander walked me out of the meeting room, and I could sense his concern. "Are you okay?" he asked.

I forced a smile. "I'll be fine. It's just going to take some time to get used to this."

He nodded understandingly. "Just remember, you are the queen now. You have to show them that you are capable of leading them, no matter how difficult it might be."

I nodded, knowing that he was right. I had to prove myself to the werewolves, no matter how challenging it might be. As we walked towards my chambers, Beta Alexander told me about the pack's history and their traditions. I listened carefully, trying to learn as much as I could.

As we reached my chambers, I turned towards Beta Alexander. "Thank you for your help today. I don't think I could have gotten through the meeting without you."

He smiled. "It's my duty to serve you, your majesty."

I chuckled. "Please, call me by my name. We don't have to be so formal all the time."

He nodded. "Of course, Madeliene."

I smiled and opened the door to my chambers.

I sighed as she entered her room, feeling exhausted and saddened by the hostile reception I had received at the meeting.

As I got undressed and took a refreshing shower, I tried to clear her mind and gather my strength. I knew that I had to keep going, no matter how difficult it might be.

Once I was done, I put on a beautiful gown that I had picked out for the occasion. The dress was a deep shade of emerald green, with intricate beading that sparkled in the light. The neckline was modest, but the dress hugged my curves in all the right places, making me feel confident and beautiful.

As I was putting on her earrings, the door opened, and I turned to see her maid, Maya, entering the room. Maya was a werewolf, but she was one of the few who had been kind to me since I had arrived at the castle and I was grateful to have someone to confide in.

"Good evening, Maya," I greeted her with a smile.

"Good evening, Madeliene," Maya replied, bowing her head respectfully. "Is there anything I can help you with tonight?"

I shook her head. "No, I just needed a shower and some time to myself. But thank you for asking."

Maya nodded and walked towards me, inspecting my dress. "That's a beautiful dress. You look stunning."

I blushed at the compliment. "Thank you, Maya. I wanted to look my best for the meeting."

Maya smiled. "You did. You looked confident and composed, even in the face of adversity. I'm proud of you."

My heart warmed at the words. Maya had always been supportive of me, even when others had been hostile. I was grateful to have her as a friend.

"Thank you, Maya," I said, giving her a hug. "I couldn't have done it without you."

Maya hugged ne back, her strong arms enveloping me in a comforting embrace. "You're welcome, my friend. You know I'll always be here for you."

I pulled back and smiled. "I know. And I appreciate it more than you can imagine."

Maya nodded and stepped back. "Is there anything else you need before I go?"

I shook my head. "No, I'm good. Thank you again, Maya. You're the best."

Maya grinned. "I know I am. Now go out there and show them who's boss."

I laughed. "I'll try my best."

As Maya left the room, I took a deep breath and reminded myself to stay strong.
