Chapter 4 Bitten by a ghost

My pain is forgotten, my tears gone momentary as I run to save him.

As I draw near, the hairs in my body stood up and I felt goosebumps wash over me. That was my cue to turn back and leave, but I didn't.

First I was curious and secondly, I couldn't leave. The force pulling me in was stronger than me and maybe if my wolf didn't hide away, we might have joined hands together to overcome the pull.

"Audrey," I called trying to wake her up.

"Leave me." She murmured shrinking back.

Okay. I can't believe my wolf will do this.

'Who do you all want me to turn to? Zavier hates me and now you're abandoning me in a time of danger. Is it fair? I grumbled annoyed.

"Audrey!" The voice moans out painfully, and I find myself running again.

When I got to the part of the forest that has three roads leading to three different ways.

The left part of the forest would lead to Rogue park. The most dangerous werewolves that kill the other werewolves like fowl. They are heartless and inconsiderate.

The straight part leads to the lycan domain. They are also dangerous. And also the most powerful shifters. They are beasts, very deadly and powerful. No one mess with them, not even the rogue.

And the last part which is in the right part of the forest is a road that leads to the Vampire domain. It held a boundary between the vampire and all other shifters,

There was a forbidden rule made by the late alpha that no werewolf should cross that part. You are allowed to go to any other part of the forest if you wish to. But no one is allowed to follow that part no matter what.

I stood still as I heard the voice calling on me. Oh, no! It beckoning from the right.

It must be joking. There's no way in hell I am going to walk through that forbidden land! No way I'm going there!

I stood there fiantly, stubbornly refusing to take another step forward. Declining and opposing whatever force pulling me, a heavy wind blow pushing me around while I try to stable my feet.

I felt something stung my neck, I screamed in pain and fell, and my eyes begin to close.

I opened my eyes to see myself in a dimly lit room, a big box was staying a little distance away from me. I couldn't make out what is in it or how huge it is.

It was old and dusty.

My first thought was, to get up and run but I know better than to do it. Even at that, I was also curious to see what is inside the box.

I got up and begin to trade towards it. As I approach I can feel my heart swiftly beating but I was determined to see the end of it.

It is only when I was an inch close that I realized that the thing wasn't an ordinary box rather it was a coffin.

"Oh my God! What could a coffin be doing here." I exclaimed inwardly feeling dread pervading my entire body.

This is a bad idea. I should have listened to my wolf. I should have resisted the force earlier. I grumbled but it was too late already.

I heard a slight movement inside the coffin and I froze. I couldn't run my feet were stuck.

After some time the coffin opened.

And here we go again!

My curiosity peeks in, rising to the highest peak and I find myself treading towards it.

I wanted to see what was inside the coffin, and I did.

Reaching the coffin box, I saw a corpse lying in it. Its skin is dried up and only his skeletal bone could be seen. The structures of the bones were visible under his dried skin. His fang poking out.

The sight was disgusting and dreadful, and I suddenly felt sick to my stomach. I felt like puking.

My heart flew out of my chest when I saw the skeleton move, I screamed, yelling loudly in fear as the hand grab me and pulled me in, making me lie above him.

His eyes open and stare right into mine.

"Audrey," He groans as he opens his mouth and sank his fangs into my neck, biting directly at the spot where my mate mark should be.

I heard my wolf cry.

"I have been waiting for you." He murmured before my eyes close as my consciousness drift away from me.

I opened my eyes to see my mum sitting on my bed. Her hand holding unto mine. Her eyes were red and there seemed to be a dark mark like a shape of a half moon curved around her lower eyelids.

"Mum," I called.

Her eyes swipe to me."Kat! My baby." She cried as she immediately pull me in her arms, hugging me tightly.

"Mum. You are crushing me. I can hardly feel my bones."

"Oh, sorry." She muttered, pulled away, cupping my face and kissing my two cheeks then ended her kisses on my forehead.

I groaned, "Please mum. Don't go cry baby on me."

"Shut up silly girl. How could you do a thing like that!? Didn't you know you should have stopped when you felt exhausted? Why let him drive you to the point of unconsciousness."

Okay. What the fuck is she talking about?

"Mum. What are you saying?"

I stare at her, not understanding a thing. She must have noticed my confused state.

She added.

"You have been sleeping since two days after sealing your mate bond. And you got us all worried."

Sleeping for two days? Sealing the mate bond? Honestly, I don't understand a thing. I am more confused than earlier.

"Don't tell me you don't remember anything. Going to see Zavier on your 18th birthday."

Just then, the whole memory flashed back. I remember everything. How I had visited Zavier and caught him having sex with other girls. How I tried to prove a point to him and ended up getting body shame.

How I ran out and run into the woods. How I heard my wolf name and the force pulling me towards the voice.

How I saw a coffin with a scary skeleton inside it and how the skeleton grabbed and bite me on my neck at the spot where my mate would bite me.

I gasped at the memory and stare at my mum.

"Mum. How did I get here? Who brought me back?" I asked fearfully. I wanted to know if it was the alpha king since his voice was what tricked me into that room.

"Your mate, I guess." She replied.

Hearing my mum's word brought a little relief to me, but not entirely since it doesn't make sense to me.

The Zavier I know hates me. How then will he come to the forest to save me? Something isn't right.

"You don't sound sure mum. Did you perhaps see him when he did?"

"Um...well...i "my mum stammered." I was in the kitchen cooking when I heard the opening sound of the door, I came out and saw a man's back leaving the house, so, I thought it is him...Zavier. "

Now I am so sure it wasn't Zavier. I don't know but I can feel it deeply that if Zavier should see me dying he would walk past ignoring me.

I tried to rebuke that part of me but I know it might not be wrong. But I was hoping it would, at least for the sake of my sanity.

"You don't have to worry about who brought you back, Kat. There won't be anymore else if not Zavier." She sighed."He must have brought you back after you lost consciousness."

Oh, if only she knew;

"Although, I am mad at him for not showing up since then. He would probably get an earful when I set my eyes on him." She stares at me with a beautiful smile plastered on her face."Your mate mark is beautiful."

"Mate mark?"

"Yes." She nodded still smiling.

I sprang up from the bed and rushed to stare at myself in the mirror. Pulling my dress down I saw a beautiful half sun plastered on my neck with a tiny star dotted in the middle of it.

It was curved upward and I know my mates own would be curved downward.

'Wow! So beautiful." The word tore from my mouth before I could stop myself.

I gasped in horror when I remember that the mark wasn't from Zavier. It was from the skeleton.

'What the fuck!"
