Chapter 10 Why Are You Here

The knock on the door astonished Mia, who was inside.

Who could be the visitor at this late hour?

Mia wondered how anyone could be willing to come to her.

Mia flashed a bitter smile and decided that it was just her hallucination. Without Mom around, she felt empty and somewhat lost. Staring at every corner of the place, Mia constantly thought of her mother. Mom used to be busy around with a loving smile.

Knock, knock, knock.

At another three rhythmic knocks on the door, Mia furrowed her brow in surprise. It seemed that there was indeed someone out there.

But when she was about to go out and open the gate in the courtyard, the person pushed the door directly in.

Mia saw a man a head taller than her showed up after opening the gate.

His figure was tall and straight, his shoulders were broad, and his features were astonishingly handsome. As the man fixed his deep eyes on her, Mia felt that she had been seen through completely.

"What are you doing here?"

Staring at the man before her, Mia recognized that he was Dylan, who stopped Nova in the auditorium earlier this day. Although Mia might be able to dodge Nova's attack by herself, she appreciated Dylan's help.

After all, Dylan helped Mia, even if he said it was for the sake of the Powell Family's reputation.

Dylan turned to close the gate with a kick, keeping two of his subordinates outside.

Under Mia's gaze, he approached her. Dylan observed the girl with interest. The more he looked at her, the more fascinating he found her was.

There were gratitude, curiosity, and confusion in Mia's eyes. However, there was no amazement or desire like Dylan witnessed in the eyes of many women when they looked at her.

Mia was indeed a fascinating being. No wonder Luke liked her.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Am I not welcome here?"

Dylan flashed a faint smile, and Mia hurried to lower her eyes. She did not imply that the man was not welcome here. She did not know what was here for. He must be visiting her for a reason. Otherwise, a man with his status shall never show up at such a shitty place.

Dylan's smile deepened when he witnessed Mia lower her head and keep silent. And the expression in his eyes was tinged with a trace of calculation.

With hands in his trouser pockets, Dylan entered the place.

Mia had to went after the man helplessly, wondering what exactly the man was here for.

"Would you like to make me a cup of tea?"

Dylan sat down on the sofa in the compact living room and looked around.

The place was not spacious but spotless and tidy. The orderliness of this room demonstrated that its owner was a scrupulous and neat person.

Knowing that Mia's mother was dead, Dylan naturally concluded that it was Mia who took care of the place.

Over the last three days, he had found out everything about Mia.

Mia's father died when she was a kid. After that, she and her mother moved to J City. Mom worked hard to pay for Mia's education. Luckily, Mia performed not bad at schools and was eventually admitted to the acting department of C University, the best higher education institution in J City. Because of her excellent performance in college, Mia was well thought of by her tutors.

Of course, it was also at C University that Mia met Luke and Bella, and the latter was Mia's roommate.

What then happened to the three of them was a tacky love triangle.

Luke fell in love with Mia, and Bella fell in love with Luke. Mia originally did not like Luke, but under Luke's sugar-coated attacks, the girl who grew up without a paternal love was finally impressed.

Her boyfriend, the man who was supposed to love her the most, and her best friend, whom she regarded as a confidant, were actually flirting back and forth all the time. Luke and Bella had done everything with each other but sex.

Mia allowed Bella to take that opportunity and asked for a leave of absence from the department under her mother's hospitalization pretext. However, the Department Director did not employ Bella directly.

If Bella had not reached out to the Department Director and seduced him, she would not have gotten the chance.

Dylan stared at the apprehensive woman sitting across from him, his smile growing deeper.

"It seems that I'm as welcome as a storm here."

Mia did not offer the man a cup of tea or anything, which was impolite and bold. But Dylan found it interesting.
