Chapter 4 Fed Up

There was a light gasp in the room as the doctor released those words. The few workers there expressed their shock, same with Ava.

"What are you talking about? We all know Joelle was pregnant", Madame Ava scoffed, her brows crinkled up.

"Joelle was pregnant, no doubt. I had even done a scan on her two days ago. But...Now her abdomen is empty. There's nothing! Judging from experience and the fact that she's a witch, Maybe we can guess that Joelle had transferred the babies just before she died", Meredith explained.

"Transferred? What on earth is that? How's that even possible?" Ava flinched.

"I am fortunate to have seen such a case in ancient books. It's a very complicated spell. I think Joelle must've succeeded in doing it. While I was rushing to save her yesterday, I noticed she was muttering some words. That could have been it. That's the only suitable explanation".

Alpha Jamin leaned forward. The coldness on his face was beginning to fight the warmth that struggled to get in.

"Are you trying to say the babies might be just be alive?" His voice was so gruffy, his eyes dimmed with curiosity.

I'm not sure about this issue, Alpha, "Meredith bowed. "However, if the child dies, they will stay in the mother's body, and now it seems that someone else may have been pregnant with your child."

Rasima was trying so hard to be fine. She wanted to be fine.

She grunted in front of the mirror as she controlled herself from throwing up again. With the running tap, she washed her face and dried it up with a towel. Then, left the bathroom.

She couldn't tell why she was feeling that way - feeling so sick. Having breakfast had been so difficult as she could barely chew on the meal being presented to her. For some reason, she had preferred the bean soup she had strangely perceived from a distance, but unfortunately, she couldn't go to ask for some.

She had thrown up for the second time after breakfast, her waist and back was aching severally, and she was already feeling her temperature rise. Gosh! She didn't want to fall sick. She really didn't want to.

Rasima decided to get some fresh air outside, hoping it would help.

She got out of the house but unfortunately, met some ladies she wished she didn't have to see. They were just outside the house, and Rasima had a good guess that they were waiting on Kylie.

The moment they saw her, they all left their little group of discussion to turn to her.

"Rasima", one of the three ladies called. "Wow. Finally, we get to meet".

"Yeah, hi", Rasima stated casually and tried going off.

"Hey, why are you in a hurry? We haven't seen in the past ten years, Rasima. This is no way to treat an old friend", the second lady said, making Rasima to stop walking.

"We were actually here to see you. After what happened at the party last night, Emily suggested we come check up on you".

Rasima scoffed as she turned to look at them. "Can we just cut the crap? You know how much I hate dramatic ladies. We all know you didn't come here to check up on me; at least, not because you care".

The three ladies exchanged glances at each other.

"Every damn time, you keep acting like we ruined your life, Rasima", The first lady stepped out. "You keep acting like it's our fault your father died. After his death, you just shoved us away and hated us".

Rasima rolled her eyes, trying so hard to get pass the mention of her father.

"Look, I don't blame my father's on death on you. I don't want to. But you need to understand that he was killed by wolves - wolves no one has been able to identify", she said.

"So, you think it was one of us?" One of the ladies asked ridiculously. "We were still teenagers back then, Rasima. How can you even think...."

"I didn't say it was you. Of course, you didn't have the balls back then. But I..." she sighed, running out of words.

Truly, she knew there was no way her friends had a hand in it. She just didn't know how to rub it in their faces that she hated wolves.

"Your family are also wolves. Yet, you chose to hate the rest of us", another said, pathetically.

Rasima's eyes snapped. "Listen, you can think whatever you want to, but the truth is - I got tired of the relationship. Don't get me wrong - you girls were nice and all. But it can't work between us anymore".

With a shrug, Rasima turned and resumed walking away.

"Let her go", the first lady suddenly said from behind. "Afterall, she isn't even one of us. How do you expect a non - wolf to associate with wolves? She probably feels jealous and ashamed to be in our midst".

Inflamed, Rasima turned at them, her gaze focused on Emily who had spewed the last words.

"Your existence as wolves is a curse, and your goddess only deemed it fit not to make me one because she knows how much I hate it. So, get lost and go sulk in your animal form" . Words so raw, she threw it at them.

The ladies were shocked as they had never expected such blunt words from Rasima.

Saying nothing else, Rasima walked away and left them.

******************************

The news about Joelle's missing babies had spread round like wildfire, every wolf in the city was talking about it.

When Rasima got to the dining for dinner, that was the first topic her mother brought up.

"It's so unbelievable. Who would have thought Joelle was such a powerful witch? It's amazing that she saved the lives of her unborn babies, even in her last breath", Mrs Chantal said as as she dished out rice from the bowl.

"Yeah. She's really wise and brave for doing that", Kylie seconded. "But I wonder who she transferred the babies to? Is the person even aware of it?"

"I wonder the same. Either ways, I really hope that person is a good one. Those babies do not deserve to be in the belly of an evil woman", Mrs Chantal added.

Rasima didn't mind. She didn't care about the rumors in the city, nor did she care who was pregnant. That was what alpha needed to care about.

She sat morosely on her seat, her eyes staring at the vacant seat of her brother. That morning, he had occupied it for breakfast, but now, it was empty. Unfortunately, he had to leave as his presence was needed back at the hospital. So unfortunate. He was the only person that truly understood her in the family.

Her mother served her meal and thankfully, this time around, it was what she wanted. She ate all of it and dished another plate. Her mother was surprised but happy she could finally eat.

She couldn't explain, but the growing hunger made her very upset.

The desire for food triumphed over a girl's desire for a good figure.

Done, she retired to her room where she took a shower and laid to rest. She had taken her evening dosage of drugs, but her health wasn't any better.

For some reason, she felt so heavy. She couldn't explain it.

She cogitated for a while, thinking of the unfortunate things that's happened to her since she returned home. From watching a lady die,to passing out immediately and falling sick, and also the scuffle with her friends. Even when she had gone out for a walk, the few people she came across kept giving her the stares of:

"she's so weak, she passed out at the sight of a mere death"

"No wonder she's not a wolf. Poor lady can't do nothing".

It was obvious returning home was a huge mistake and a disaster for Rasima. The home of the wolves was indeed, not for her.

She picked up her phone and dialed Lucas' line.

"Babe", she called when he picked. "I think I'm tired already. Could you book a flight for me for tomorrow? I think I'm done with this place".
