Chapter 2 My Husband is an Emperor

While sitting on the long chair I was still stunned and repeatedly remembered the Emperor's kiss. I didn't know that it feels so good to be kissed by the person your heart beats for. Whatever the Emperor's reason was, he still wasn't sure that he was in love with me either so he did that.

Later someone seat next to me. This is my servant friend in the palace. It informed that Princess Ching was planning something against me. He heard him talking to his followers. Princess Ching is the daughter of the Queen Mother's friend. It was promised that their children would be married when the time came but it did not happen because the Emperor chose the woman he would marry. The Queen Mother is kind, as a matter of fact she is not opposed to me becoming her son's wife. He has a brother, and this is Prince Ryhm who has a crush on my servant.

When I heard that news, I immediately thought about what it could do to me. And I'm ready for whatever it takes.

One morning, the Queen Mother was surprised by bad news. The townspeople knock on the palace because of the spreading epidemic. People are getting sick one after the other and they are also dying one after the other. Because everyone knows that I come from a family of physicians, they are asking for a cure for the people of the town who have serious illnesses. They say that no other doctor can heal people, so I am their only hope.

"The Emperor's wife cannot take medicine outside the palace! She is a princess, and not a country doctor!" The Queen Mother strongly refused, but because of my pity for the people who were dying, I approached the Queen and begged to be allowed to help the people.

"No way, Empress Yeng. They will practice that they will always bother you. Because they don't clean the surroundings, so anything lands on their pain. I will just give them another doctor from another town. You cannot go there."

At that time I did not complain about the Queen Mother's decision. So I went back to my room and cried and cried there.

My parents raised me to be helpful to others. But I can't use that because of my status in life. What about the citizens who die one by one? I can't help them because the Queen Mother doesn't want it.

The Emperor entered our room and saw me crying. That's why he was so worried.

"What happened to you?" this worried question,

"I want to help with treatment outside the palace. I want to help those who need help. Please Your Majesty, convince the Queen Mother to allow me to undergo treatment!" I begged the Emperor,

He came closer and wiped the tears from my eyes.

"If you really want to help, stop crying. I will find a way to get you out of the palace. But there is one condition..." he said that I was still stunned thinking about the Emperor's condition towards me.

"What is it?"

"I will come with you and you will not leave me when we are outside the palace." I was surprised by what the Emperor said. I? He wants to be with? Why did he think that was the condition?

That night we both went out of the Emperor's palace, in order not to recognize him he changed his clothes. Just a natural dress that the soldiers wouldn't recognize him. There are many dangers lurking outside the palace, but the Emperor will not allow me to leave the palace alone. Whatever happens, I have prepared many medicines for His Majesty's protection.

While riding the horse, I could feel the elegant physique of the Emperor. It was just behind me, watching our way. It was dark in the area, so the Emperor needed focus so that he could hear everything around him. And he knows if there is danger coming.

"Your majesty, you might be harmed by leaving the palace. You don't have a soldier with you," I said to him so he lost his focus on what he was doing for a moment.

"There is no safe place for me, everything has an imminent danger. I won't let you go out alone," he replied seriously, I was shocked again by what the Emperor said.

"Your majesty, your life is more important than mine."

"But you are the reason why I'm alive now, don't make any noise and maybe someone will hear us," he said, focusing his hearing around again.

I smiled all the time, all I had to do was jump on the horse and run because of what the Emperor said.

We continued our journey to the village of sick people. We got there safely, but I felt very sorry for the children whose bodies were full of wounds from the poison that was spreading.

"Your Highness, we can't believe you're coming. What you did was very dangerous, so we are very grateful and you accepted our request," said the old man in charge of the treatment that was taking place.

The Emperor just nodded his head, which made me smile because that was another honor as a good ruler.

"I will start the treatment. Bring me someone who is sick and I will find out what disease has landed on them," I ordered and they immediately obeyed.

Because of my wish not to let others know that we were there, my treatment was a secret. It's easy to do that because once I identify a person's illness, everyone who feels sick can drink it. Because it might be known in the palace immediately that the Emperor and I ran away, the Queen Mother would definitely be upset because of our disobeying the order.

They brought a young woman to me, I observed her appearance. Its complexion is deliberately damaged due to wounds that have accumulated in different parts of the body. I held the young woman's hand for a moment, and observed her eyes and tongue. Before being injected with a device that shows me how bad this disease is. I watched the blood smeared on the sharp needle.

It is an insect-borne disease. These insects carry poison, which is why diseases are transmitted because of the air inhaled by the sick person. I took out a piece of paper, and gave it to their leader.

"Here are the things needed for you to create medicine that you will inject into the sick. Burn dry leaves in the afternoon to repel disease-carrying insects. I'm sure they have an oration, that's why it quickly kills people who are afflicted with the disease."

"Thank you very much for your help Empress Yeng, the same goes for your majesty. All of our fears will be over," the people present paid tribute. That's why I just nodded and invited the Emperor to go home. Maybe the Queen Mother will find out about our escape.

We rode the Emperor's horse again.

"Your Majesty, thank you. Now I can sleep well because I have helped the sick."

"You don't have to thank me. I'm the one thanking you for helping the townspeople," he said, so I just nodded.

We got back to the palace safely. But when we got there, the Emperor and I were surprised when the Queen Mother greeted us.

"What does this mean? You disobeyed my order?" The Queen said angrily.

I saw Princess Chin standing next to the Queen. Is this what my waiter friend is saying; Princess Chin's evil plot?

"Mother, there is nothing wrong with Empress Yeng helping the townspeople. They are the ones who work outside the palace, so that our town can develop. It's only right that we give them help," explained Emperor Rhizhi,

"Can the townspeople restore your life, if something bad happened to you? What a blasphemy you two have committed! You have no respect for me!" The Queen Mother turned away in annoyance, leaving us feeling angry, so I was very worried.

I looked at Princess Chin who was still smiling. But his majesty did not see it because he was looking at someone else.

You are really the plague in my life. You thought you could snatch the Emperor by what you were doing. In my annoyance I hugged the Emperor, and remembered crying because of the anger shown by the Queen Mother.

"It's all my fault, Your Majesty. Forgive me if the Queen Mother got angry," I said to the Emperor, crying.

The Emperor responded with a hug, caressing my hair before speaking.

"It's not your fault, only later will the Queen Mother forget what happened."

I glanced at Princess Chin, I saw her frowning in irritation and staring at us evilly. I even licked it after seeing it growl in anger. So it suddenly turned around and left in front of us.

I laughed and let go of Emperor Rhizhi, who looked at me in surprise.

"Are you really crying or laughing?" it asked me,

"Hmmm... the same. Let's go inside, Your Majesty. You need to rest." It just shook its head and followed me.

The next day, a soldier ran panting to our room.

"Your majesty, there are many townspeople outside," he said,

I was very worried about that scene. What happened and where did the townspeople go? Did the antidote not work?

I was nervous to obey His Majesty, I might have made a mistake, instead of helping I would have made it worse.

After leaving the big door, more and more people were shouting.

"Dear Majesty, we are good!" they shouted.

The Queen Mother approached and witnessed the joy of the people outside the palace. It was carrying some kind of offering.

"Your Majesty, they brought a lot of vegetables and fruits. For giving thanks for what Empress Yeng has done."

The Queen Mother smiled at what the Soldier said and even the Emperor was very happy. The opposite is true for Princess Ching.
