Chapter 6 Turmoil

Evan stepped out from under the freezing cold spray of the quickest shower he'd ever taken and roughly ran a towel over his body.

He'd had to take a cold shower because merely putting his hands around her shoulders when he'd helped her inside had unleashed a flood of desire within him, so forceful that he'd almost lost control.

He could still feel the gentle swell of her breasts against his side, and the enticing scent of fresh flowers that wafted into his nose as he held her, and the silky brush of her hair as it had swung against him. Her skin was even softer than he'd imagined earlier.

"Damn it!" Evan ran a hand through his hair and cursed himself as his body started to respond to the mental images again. Taking in a deep puff of air he enforced rigid control, dragging on a pair of black trousers and a white shirt.

Recalling how she'd suddenly moved away from him recoiling in her seat he couldn't help but admonish himself once more at how pathetically he was feeling such instant attraction towards her when she clearly wasn't feeling the same.

He paced back and forth in the inner room for a while to compose himself.

'What is wrong with you Evan, she's just some woman, pull yourself together.' He admonished himself.

It astounded him how easily he was feeling drawn to her, though he had seen many beautiful women before, none as beautiful as her to be honest, but it still was very unlike him to react this way towards a woman in such short time, he barely even knew her.

He paced around the room for a few more minutes before her came to a conclusion.

'Its probably the alcohol!' he thought. That was a logical explanation, he'd already had a few glasses already, that could probably be the explanation to why he was suddenly feeling attracted to a woman who was a total stranger to him.

'And what the hell is she doing here anyway? Why did she suddenly flee her own wedding?' he wondered to himself.

The fact that she was here showed that he hadn't mistaken the fleeting look of despair he'd caught in her eyes earlier, those beautiful, bright silver colored eyes that could entrap anyone in their depths, the tears that pooled in her eyes, the desperation and heartache he saw in them. He didn't know why he reacted that way but his fists subconsciously clenched when he'd recalled how she slumped on the floor, how she'd trembled when he supported her up.

He ran his hands into his slightly damp hair once more as the image changed to her mesmerizingly beautiful face when he'd supported her to the couch, she'd looked at him with an unfathomable look in her eyes and her beautiful lips were parted slightly.

He'd had the urge to pull her face into his and crash his lips against her dainty supple lips to see how she tasted.

Earlier he had just finished a few rounds on the treadmill, and after a few more glasses, he'd headed straight for the terrace pool when she had suddenly busted into the terrace.

To say he was utterly shocked to see her there at that moment was an understatement, he'd almost even believed he was imagining it, not until he spoke and she jumped with a frightened scream she turned towards him quite surprised herself to find him there.

But the moment he set his eyes on her and the state she was in, he had lost control immediately, he felt enraged for some reason, enraged at how she slumped weakly to the floor devastated, then the next minute he was madly aroused by just a single touch between them, it was almost driving him crazy he had never experienced something as strange as this before.

He gritted his teeth feeling annoyed at how much he'd lost control of his own thoughts and emotions. Taking a few more deep breaths he composed himself and went back into the living room.

Nadia heard a set of footsteps signifying that the man was coming, she didn't know why she suddenly felt flustered and quickly sprang up to her feet, but due to the sudden movement she swayed and almost lost her footing but in a second he was by her side as he steadied her by grabbing on to her shoulders, he gently pushed her to sit back on the couch.

Glancing up at him, she was slightly surprised to find him clench his jaw, he looked away from her and was quick to retract his hands from her shoulders, this time he was fully dressed but that didn't mean she didn't get distracted by the epically handsome face in front of her, coming back to her senses a second later she lowered her gaze.

He stood over her for less than a second before walking up to the other side of the room by the bar filling a glass with a few inches of dark golden liquid, he walked back handing it to her, "Here, have something to drink." His voice was grim.

"I... I can't drink." She looked up at him. She mostly didn't drink at all, one, because she was an actress and the paparazzi was always lurking around to find an opportunity to pick up a scandal or a few nasty picture of sorts, if she were to get drunk and behave in some way she would be on the front cover of the news the next thing she knew, and secondly, she had an extremely low alcohol tolerance, she would get drunk easily just from a few glasses.

But he didn't retract his hands and still held it towards her, "You need it, it'll clear your head." He said solemnly.

She glanced from his face to the glass hesitantly, but she still ended up extending her hands to take the glass with slightly shaky hands. She brought the glass to her lips and winced as the fiery liquid burned down her throat.

She felt his looming shadow towering over her move away as he walked to another end of the room, after a few minutes of sitting in silence, she gulped down another sip of the golden liquid before she could muster the courage to look up at him, he was standing with his back rested against a pillar on the other side of the room, his arms crossed nonchalantly against his hard muscled chest, his eyes were glued onto her and she couldn't tell if he had been staring at her like that all this time.

She felt blood rush up to her cheeks as she lowered her head once more. The awkward silence continued for a while later, she snuck a glance at him again, he was still staring at her, but this time his eyes were even more piercingly cold, brows furrowed in annoyance, he looked stern and she gulped nervously, "I... I'm sorry I barged in, I didn't know where I was going..."

"How did you get in?" He suddenly interrupted her, she almost shivered at how coldly chilling his voice sounded.

"I don't know, it was through a staff elevator i guess." She wasn't even certain about the twists and turns she'd taken to get there, she only knew she had later found herself in a grandiose looking hallway which led to the staff elevator, then to the workers quarters.

When she looked up at him, she saw the look of displeasure on his face, in fact, his jaw was clenched as if he was mad at her, she suddenly felt panicked.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry, I didn't know where I was going, I really didn't mean to..." Just as she began fervently apologizing the phone suddenly rang cutting her off.

Seeing how he glanced at her the minute the phone rang, her heart started to hammer in her chest, her head swung to the corner of the room from where the sound of the ringing phone came, the absolute fear and dread she was feeling plastered on her face.

He walked towards the ringing phone, her nervousness increasing with every step he took.

Could that phone call be from the people looking for her?

The next second, the ringing suddenly stopped, he picked up the phone with a hum as a panicked voice came from the other side, it was probably due to the silence in the room but she could clearly hear every word being said from the other side,

"Sir, sorry to disturb you, but we were wondering if you've seen a woman in a wedding dress. There are people worriedly looking for her right now and... She really has to be found as soon as possible..." The man continued to speak but the drumming in her heart had blocked her from hearing what was said afterwards.

She saw him glance at her silently without saying a word to the person on the other line who was repeatedly calling out 'hello' since he didn't hear a reply and her fear rose up to her throat.

His expression was unfathomable and she feared if he would throw her out to them, he had seemed angry that she broke in.

She wanted to beg, plead with him not to expose her, but who was she to ask anything of him right now? After she had carelessly barged in on his privacy, it wouldn't be unexpected If he was to expose her to them and have her thrown out of his penthouse.

There was an unfathomable glimmer in his eyes as he responded to the person on the other line, "What do you think?"

Nadia shut her eyes tight, there was a pang of disappointment in her chest.
