Chapter 4 Please don't tell me you plan to jump

Nadia knew he was right, if she even attempted to reveal the truth she'd be drowned in the saliva of his millions of devoted fans who would blindly stand by him no matter what.

As famous as she was, he was the bigger star between them with a countless number of female fans. Though he wanted to marry her for his own benefits it wasn't because she was more famous than him, it was because he wanted to use the Fame she had as a ladder to step even higher in the entertainment industry.

Apart from all that, suddenly calling off the wedding would leave her family devastated what with all the trouble they'd gone through.

And how would she even bring herself to tell her parents about John's infidelity? She could see how much they adored him thinking he was the man she loved. The news would disappoint them to no end.

Besides the fact that they were a highly conservative family, respectability was also something they took in utmost importance, if she were to create such a degrading scandal for herself it'd ruin their reputation as much as hers and they'd be devastated.

The pressure on Nadia's head increased as she felt an even more intense headache coming on. She could feel John's gaze on her and she couldn't bring herself to raise up her head to look up at him, she knew all too well the look of false adoration that would be written all over his face.

It was a look that he'd perfected over the years in all his films, one that she herself had fallen for when they met on their first film together, a look that she'd fooled herself into believing was sincere.

No wonder it was so easy for him to get her without making too much effort, he'd planned it all out beforehand, to him she was just some sheltered, spoiled, immature and unbelievably naive actress and he had easily made her fall for his act and seduced her with an image of a perfect union.

Her train of thought and self reprimanding was cut short abruptly when the priest instructed them to start taking their vows, John was to be going first.

They were approaching the most sacred part of the ceremony that would bind them together for life and Nadia knew that after this her chances of escape would be gone forever.

John began to recite his perfectly practised speech, "From the moment I first set my eyes on you... My heart stopped. And this feeling has been unfamiliar to me even though I've enacted it in countless films all my life, it was the first time I wanted to make a girl happy, give her everything I have, can't bear to see her in pain, want to live and spend every second of my life with, it's amazing, and when we acted in 'Love like rainbow' together, believe it or not every emotion was genuine,

"I wish I could find the words to express how much I care about you, it's not the fluttering of the chest or the tightening of the stomach that makes love, but rather, it is the blending of identities and the merging of souls between two people, and loving you made me realize that,

"Using the words 'love' to describe the boundless, unquenchable ardour I feel for you is an insult to the power of that emotion, everyday you inspire me to strive for self improvement. For now, tomorrow, and the rest of time I accept you just as you are to be my spouse,

"I guarantee that I will always look at you with the same affection even when we are old and grey for the rest of our lives. And for this reason Nadia O'Hara, I pledge the rest of my life to you, to love and to hold, in sickness and in health, through wealth and through fame, till death do us part." He spoke every word in his low and seductive voice holding sincerity.

His words were capable of melting anyone's heart, he made it sound like she was the most important thing to him, the way he spoke was exactly like he would in his films, she really couldn't help but marvel at how good his acting skills were, professionally, she'd even hand him an award if she could.

Nadia knew that his female fans would go insane hearing his vows, a lot of them would even be left crying tears, but she only felt disgusted hearing him swear his love and adoration for her when she was nothing else to him but a chess piece.

As he reached the end of his vows, Nadia's heart began to beat even louder in more panic, she began to tremble slightly and she tightly clenched her fist beside her.

Her thoughts racing in her head in a disordered manner. Her eyes were wide open and she knew with each passing second she was a step closer into a horrid married life with John which would be filled with nothing else but pain and suffering.

How would she even be expected to to be able to bring children into such a marriage? What kind of life would the children have in a marriage that was nothing else but a big facade?

In that second as her mind was racing in turmoil, Nadia suddenly recalled the piercing pair of green eyes of the man she had seen in the shadows and suddenly, her wide eyes widened further with an impulsive urge that engulfed her, the urge was stronger than anything else she'd ever felt before.

At this moment she wasn't thinking at all, she'd drawn all her chaotic thoughts to a screeching halt.

"May the bride please proceed with her wedding vows." Following the priest's words came a deathly silence in the large hall as the bride stood still not uttering a single word.

The priest repeated himself once more but was again met with the same silence as before, the bride stood transfixed with eyes wide open.

"Dia, dia honey, say your vows now," John urged in a coaxing voice but there was a sharp look in his eyes.

Nadia continued to stare at nothing in particular remaining silent.

"Dia?" John called once more looking at her suspiciously as if afraid of what she would do next, "Dia say your vows, Now!" He uttered with more threat in his tone as he blocked the mini mic hung along his collar so no one would hear him except her, "Damn it Dia, don't you dare do anything stupid! Remember what you stand to lose. Say your vows now!" He ordered in a low voice.

She finally looked up at him through the veil, and he relaxed, feeling relieved seeing the frightened look in her eyes, he was pleased she was still scared of his threats, at least she wouldn't try to do anything stupid.

But before John or anyone could react, with a firmly resolved look in her eyes, she pulled up her dress and stepped off the altar.

"Dia... What the hell do you think you're doing?!!" He hissed lowly afraid that someone else would hear the hostility in his voice if he spoke louder.

She went straight to the row her family were seated in among the guests ignoring their surprised and utterly shocked looks.

She glanced apologetically at them all with tears pooled in her eyes as she flung the veil off her head, "I'm very sorry, but I can't do this, am sorry." Though her voice sounded husky and choked with tears, it was loud enough for everyone to hear her due to the mini mic attached to her dress for when she said her vows.

The hall fell silent, taking advantage of that moment before everyone recovered from their shock, Nadia quickly ran out of the hall.

She didn't care about where she was running to, she just wanted to get as far away as she could before they would all realize what was going on and her father or John would send people after her to find her, the former because he was worried about her and the latter to selfishly threaten her.

She couldn't bear to think of the confusion and disappointment her parents would currently be plunged into or else she knew she wouldn't be able to run any further anymore. She steeled herself so she wouldn't think about it, there was no going back now.

She'd attracted a lot of eyes from the passerbys who would probably be wondering why a woman in a wedding dress was running like a mad woman, she knew that if she continued to run towards a crowded place, it would make it easier for her to be found when John sent people after her.

She changed her mind from going through the front reception since that would be the most crowded place in this huge hotel, she quickly turned towards another corner, she didn't know for how long she ran but she later emerged at a long and empty hallway, towards the end of it she saw what she thought was a staff elevator.

Hoping to be as far away from the wedding hall as possible, she pushed the button that opened the elevator door and she quickly dashed inside, she wanted to find somewhere quiet where she could be alone and assess the situation and the possibly prepare herself for the consequences of her actions.

_Oh my God what have I done??! Will I end up losing my career? I've worked so hard to get here, and now_

Another huge wave of panic washed over her the moment she started to think about the consequences of what she had just done, she felt her breath coming heavy and she quickly pushed the thoughts into the back of her head taking deep breaths to calm down.

_Its alright Dia, calm down just don't think about it, don't think about it, you're going to be free._ she repeatedly told herself.

Accepting that now wasn't the time to think about all this she finally calmed down, but she still felt constricted from both her clothes and the whirlwind happening in her head.

With a 'ding' sound the elevator came to a smooth halt, the doors opened with a muted whoosh and she found herself in what she thought was the workers quarters, but she must admit, it was a very lush workers quarters, as expected of the top most prestigious hotel in the city.

There was a single door before her and she slowly pushed it open, the minute her eyes landed on what was behind the doors her heart jumped, she stood shocked for a moment before realizing she was in a high end suite.

The room was incredibly spacious, and exquisitely designed, though it was dark because she couldn't find the light switch there was adequate amount of moonlight streaming in from the floor to ceiling glass doors on the other end of the room, giving the whole place a muted, cozy grey color.

The high end furnitures were arranged perfectly following what she was certain was an incredibly well thought out interior design, not to mention very expensive, regardless of how famous she was and how many luxury rooms she had gotten to stay at in the past, she had never stepped Into any suite that looks as posh and expensive as this one.

_Could this probably be a presidential suite?_ she asked herself.

It wouldn't be a surprise, since Evermore hotel was the best in Blakewood city, so they would have a presidential suite for whenever the president would be visiting Blakewood city right?

But if someone was to catch her here then...

She dismissed that thought hearing how still and quiet the entire place was.

_There's probably no one here._

She let out a sigh of relief, it was good that the suite was empty, at least she could be alone, if they caught her here then she'd just silently pay for the room, since it was deep into the hotel John wouldn't be able to find her here.

Feeling even more relieved she walked into the large suite, with the perfect and lavishness of the suite she was certain this was the most expensive suite in the hotel.

She walked towards the wall to wall sliding glass, and pushed it open, she was met with an open terrace and balcony that offered the perfect view of Blakewood city's skyline laid out before her. The realization that this was no ordinary suite hit her once more.

_Is this... A penthouse?_ It was without a doubt a penthouse.

When her mind drifted back to her own honeymoon suite with it's large king sized bed covered in roses she felt restless once more and she walked further outside deeply inhaling the fresh air into her lungs to calm herself down.

A dim light was coming from somewhere close to her but she was too oblivious to notice.

When she reached the ends standing before the glass railings she stopped, tipping her head backwards she inhaled deeply, but just when her heart was finally starting to calm down...

"Please don't tell me you plan to jump," A deep voice came from behind her.

Caught off guard, Nadia screamed.
