Chapter 2 Something is fishy

Ace POV.

I have been trying to figure out where the Russian leader is hiding but I have been unsuccessful so far. All of his men who we have captured are useless. It is other they don't know where he is or give us a location but when we go there we find the place empty. I know that I cannot give up right now. That will be letting my family and Mafia down. As the don, I am supposed to deal with all the threats to the La Familia.

"Yo bro," Bob, my best friend, called out, making me come back to my senses.

"What do you want?" I asked irritatingly.

"Oops, my bad," he said, earning a glare from me.

"Okay, okay. I know you are stressed, trying to figure out where Daniel is, but bro, you really need a break," he said.

"You know that we don't take breaks," I told him, making him sigh.

"Yes we do. Come on man, get your ass up and let us go to the club and have some fun," he said.

"I am not in the mood for clubbing," I told him and continued looking at the files.

"No, I am not going to listen to you today. Now get your ass off that chair," he said.

As much as I wanted to shout at him or even better kill him, I couldn't because he is not only my best friend but also second-in-command. I am glaring at him but it seems he is not affected at all by it therefore I stopped.

"Where is Paul?" I asked him.

"He is waiting for us in the living room," he said.

Wait! Did I hear him correctly?

"Don't tell me that he is also in this stupid idea," I said.

"Of course, he is. Why can't he not be?" He asked.

"I will one day kill both of you with my bare hands," I told him.

"You know that you can't do that, right?" He asked.

Clearly from his voice, he was very proud of it. I really felt like smacking him but I had to tolerate my anger. Getting out of the chair, I took my car keys and phone and left the office making sure to close the door on his face. You better call me arrogant than a bitch if you want to see another day. My sister is the only one who escapes my wrath by calling me a bitch when I am mad.

I walked to the living room and found Paul playing a game on his phone. Upon hearing footsteps, he looked up and saw me. He looked around me then frowned.

"What's the matter?" I asked him.

"Where is Bob?" He asked.

"I don't know. Am I supposed to know?" I asked him while glaring.

"He came to your office some minutes ago," he said.

"My bad. He didn't show up there," I said and walked past him.

"What's wrong with you?" Bob asked as he came into the living room.

"Can we go before I change my mind," I told them, making Bob shut up while Paul stood.

I lead them to the garage. I am sure that none of them want to drive so I will have to drive. I walked towards my Jeep and unlocked it.

We got in and drove to one of my clubs. The reason as to why I agreed with their stupid plan was because I also wanted to meet with the manager cause I find something fishy with the income they are getting. The sum does not add up. I hope that he is not stealing from me cause he will definitely regret it.

It was a half an hour drive. We arrived and walked past the queue which people were making so that they could be allowed to get in. Some people looked at us with fear. They know that I am heartless and I guess they know that this is one of my clubs.

We walked in after giving the bouncers a nod in return. The club was so full and this makes me suspicious about the financial reports I have been getting.

"There is something fishy," I said to no one in particular but I could see Paul and Bob's attention directed to me.

We sat in the VIP section.

"Why don't you want us to go to the office today?" Bob asked.

"I want to observe how the business here is going," I answered him.

"Why do you think that something is fishy?" Paul asked.

"The place is full and that is not what the financial report says," I said.

"What does it claim then?" Bob asked.

"That there are always less people and even when you count the amount of people indicated there and what they bought does not add up with the money deposited in the account on that day," I said.

"So you mean that the amount deposited in the bank account and on the reports are different?" Bob asked.

"Yes," I simply answered, making them nod their heads in agreement.

"Why don't we go and ask for the receipt book then we will find out?" Paul asked.

"Yeah. That's a great idea," Bob answered and we walked towards the bartender.

Upon seeing us, he started trembling making Paul and Bob chuckle.

"S...si...sir," he acknowledged my presence and I just gave him a nod in return.

"Can I get the receipt books," I told him and he seemed afraid of someone and am sure it was not me.

"Sir, we were told not to give it to you," he said.

Damn. I like the confidence with this kid. He can even stand against me!

Wait!! Did he just say they were told not to give it to me

I raised an eyebrow to him and he stepped back.

"By who?" Bob asked.

"I am sorry but if I say I will end up losing my job," the bartender said.

"So that is what he threatened you with? Fantastic," Paul said.

"Am sorry but if you won't give me what I want you will not lose your job but something more important than that," I said but he just shrugged making me smirk.

"You know kid, it has been long since I killed someone and am sure you don't want to be the first, do you?" I asked him.

At that he shivered.

"But...but...he said," he tried explaining but I guess my glare shut him up.

"Are you sure when I give it to you that you won't either kill me or make me lose my job?" He asked.

"You can say something like that. Now give me what I am asking for," I said.

"Give me some minutes so that I can go and get it from the cashier," he said, making me nod.

"Damn, that was something else. He really was confident standing against you," Paul said

"I know right? Maybe he doesn't know that Ace is the owner of this club," Bob said.

"Yeah. I guess you are right. But who is he talking about? Who threatened them?" Paul asked.

"I don't know, maybe we can ask him when he comes back," Bob said.

Sometimes these two talk and even forget that I am with them. That thought made me shake my head.

After waiting for the kid for more than fifteen minutes, he came back carrying three receipt books.

"Here they are, boss," he said.

I signalled him to leave.

I started going through the receipts so that I can know whether I am wrong or not.
