Chapter 5 Nighttime

It was almost middle of the night when the alarm bell rang, which means everyone are meant to assemble at the training hall.

We all got up from our bed, dressing up when we heard Mrs Johnson's voice from the speakers.

" All candidates should gather at the hall. I repeat, all candidates should gather at the hall. "

" Do you think there's a problem? " Lina asked.

" I hope not, but it sounds like there is. "

Everyone ran to the hall, standing at attention before Mrs Johnson could arrive.

" We were informed that the wolves are in the city, this is our chance to get them. It's time to prove what you've learnt. Emma will be dividing you all into two groups, the first names are the first group while the last ones are group B. "

Emma called our names and my name with Jessica and Vivian fell at the second group while, Lina, Mariam and Alison were at the first group.

" Now, you all should return to your various rooms and get change, we'll be leaving in the next twenty minutes. "

We rushed back to our respective rooms, changing into our hunting costumes.

Group A had to go with Mrs Johnson and group B left with Lydia. I was the only one looking so happy for this hunt or, maybe I'm not.

They were more of them as I could hear their chatters from where I sat.

The van drove very speedily and we were told on where to await for the wolves.

Vivian made the sign of the cross, taking a deep breath. " Are you scared? " Jessica asked her.

" No," she said. " I'm only nervous about how this first hunt is gonna be. "

" It's gonna be great, trust me. "

She nodded.

" Hello British bitch, are you scared already? " Pamela mocked, " Did you forget to kiss your momma good bye? "

" Shut the Fuck up, Mela. " Jessica warned.

The van halted somewhere that the wolves won't see it and we all exited from it, going to our seperate ways.

Not quite long, two black cars packed. There were five men and a lady who stepped out of the car.

Lydia had instructed us to be quiet and not to attack for the meantime.

The way they talked, they seem to be having a meeting with a different pack.

Not seeing the other pack got them more annoyed than they already were. Emma still signaled us to be still which we were.

I wasn't scared, why? Because I've been in the field since I was fifteen.

This won't be tough in any way, this isn't my first time neither will it be my last.

More three cars packed, and some group of men came out of it. They were six men and two ladies who were bare footed.

I looked at their toes, their nails were to long to enter a shoe. They were staring angrily at the other lady who seem to be smiling at them.

" We shouldn't be here. " Said the leader of the last set of people who came.

" You must be fucking kidding me right now, do you think I can wait any much longer? " Asked the other, " Victor knows we're here and he's got spies all over and you know he'll merge with me if I ask for his help. So, if you don't want anything to happen to both you and your packs, you better give it up or I force you to. "

One could barely see their face, the moon wasn't shinning so I found it difficult to recognize their faces.

I heard him chuckled. " What's so funny? " The other stormed.

" What makes you think I'll give up so easily? "

" I don't have to think it out, maybe you'll have to find that out when I return with Victor. "

He looked at the direction we were hiding, like he has noticed something.

" I'll be waiting till then. "

Lydia signaled us in the counting of three. When she got to the third count, we started releasing fire.

They were surrounded, so it was very difficult for them to enter their cars.

Some had to run into the woods, and some we were able to shoot. They were only three we killed.

I noticed one who had run into the woods and I quickly chased after it. He was fast, but I tried to keep up my pace.

I shot the bullet at him but he was too fast to dodge it. After a while, he stopped laughing but he was backing me.

I tried to calm my racing heart down, as I breathed not only with my nostrils but with my mouth too.

" Turn around. " I said but he didn't. " I said turn around. "

" Ashley?! " I heard Vivian call.

" I'm over here! " I noticed he hasn't turned, " I said, turn around!! " I yelled.

Slowly he turned, but when he got halfway, I noticed his wolf form appearing.

The moment he was fully facing my direction, I felt a heavy shiver run through me.

He was different from any other werewolf I've ever seen, more scary and monstrous in sight.

I could feel my fingers trembling at the hold of the trigger. Why am I feeling this way? Why am I scared?

His dark red eyes staring into mine, with the growling sound he was making out of his belly, I could feel my bones shaking.

He was staring angrily at me, I was thinking he'd just eat me into halves and go like he did nothing.

But when he heard the approaching footsteps, he ran out of the wood in a blink of an eye.

I was literally scared while standing in front of that unknown werewolf, I had my heart at the tip of my mouth.
