Chapter 7 Wedding ceremony

The wedding ceremony of Dante and Cassandra arrived. Selene had no choice but to get dressed for the whole ceremony.

She sat among the guest as she watched Cassandra walk down the aisle, she watched her take her place with a broken heart.

This was her dream, to marry the man she loved, to walk down the aisle to Dante happy that they would be together forever.

"Do you Dante Shedrach take Cassandra to be your lawfully wedded wife" the priest said.

"I do" Dante's voice was loud and clear sending a thousand arrows to her heart.

"Do you Cassandra Helmes take Dante Shedrach to be your lawfully wedded husband"

"I do" Cassandra answered with a smile on her face.

Selene didn't know when a tear drop fell from her face but she was heart broken, she wished she could cry her heart out loud but she couldn't, it would ruin the atmosphere and make her look bad.

She wiped her tears and blinked her eyes, then she looked up to them and saw them kissing, that was when she broke down silently, she hid her face in her palms as the tears kept rolling out of her eyes.

The wedding came to an end and the guests visited the Mount Villa for the after party, Selene seemed to have no sense of direction the past few days, she had been watching Dante and Cassandra with disdainful eyes that she didn't notice a few people were watching her too.

"Is she the one? The ex girlfriend who cheated" a lady said walking past her.

"Who would cheat on a man like Dante, what did she take herself for, A Goddess?" the other answered.

"I heard she got married to the brother, she sure knows how to live off other people. What a shameless slut!" a lady from behind spoke.

The pitch of their voices could tell that they weren't trying to whisper and wanted her to hear it all.

She was about to drink from a bottle of wine to make herself drunk when she saw Matteo stagger towards the newly wedded couple.

"Dante, my brother, Congratulations on your wedding. You have such a beautiful bride." Matteo leaned closer to his brother and whispered in a voice that only the two of them could hear, "Like an adulterous slut."

"You are drunk Matteo, get the fuck out of my sight" Dante reprimanded him whispering into his ears.

"Oh come on. Am I not allowed to be at your wedding, are you embarrassed, if I remember correctly you have always distanced yourself from me. Do you want to tell me why?" Matteo said.

"Matteo I am warning you, leave before you cause a mess" Dante slightly pushed him away.

"No, I am not leaving until you answer me" Matteo yelled creating attention to himself.

"Get the fuck out" Dante pushed him almost ripping off his shirt.

He was scared that his younger brother would cause a scene as he had always done.

"What is going on here?"Mr. Shedrach arrived at the scene quickly.

"Father, he is drunk. Get him out of here before he ruins my wedding party" Dante quickly stated his reason.

"What is wrong with you Matteo, do you also want to ruin this for your brother as you have always done. Go back to your room and never come out" he ordered him.

"I am not a child that you can order around, I am not leaving until he answers me" Matteo roared and smashed his bottle just at the feet of Cassandra.

"You bastard!" Mr. Shedrach was so angry that he raised his hand to slap Matteo as hard as he could. But before he could land the blow, Selene managed to step in front of Matteo in time. The slap landed on Selene's cheek instead of his.

"Father, please spare him!" Selene blocked Matteo from his father.

"Spare him?" Mr. Shedrach retorted.

"Do you remember your responsibilities as a wife? You weren't able to stop him but allowed him to cause a scene just as he used to."

"I'm sorry father" Selene apologized.

"Get him out of here before I lose it," Mr. Shedrach ordered and Selene tried to touch Matteo but he brushed her hand off and walked away on his own, she followed closely behind him.

Once the doors were closed behind them in the room, Matteo lashed out on Selene."Who do you think you are? Why the hell did you take that slap for me?"

"I did what I had to," she answered, she could vaguely remember that Mr. Shedrach had ordered her to retrain Matteo, now she understood what he meant.

"What did I tell you before, I told you to stay the fuck out of my business. Did you think that because they made you my wife you can pry into my life?" He yelled to her face and Selene was scared of him, she had never seen him act that way before.

"I didn't..."

"When I talk to you, you kept quiet until I ask you to speak. It is already bad enough that I got you as a wife and you now have the guts to pry into my life," he barked furiously as his breathing became heavy.

He hated that she tried to stand up for him, it made him feel weak before his family and that was the last thing he wanted them to see most especially his brother.

"Do you think I asked for this, my whole life has been ripped apart for a sin I didn't even commit, I never asked to be married to you." she finally found the courage to yell at her muscular but furious husband.

"Do you think I asked to be married to you too, I could be with any woman I want and it just wouldn't be you." He barked at her.

Though Dante and Matteo were brothers, Dante was given the best things he could ever ask for while growing up but he got less, Matteo could feel the cold treatment he got from his parents were too much to the point that he investigated if he was their child or not, he found out he was truly their child but couldn't understand why they acted differently with him.

When they were much older, Dante was given the family company to run while he was given a minor company that was almost falling to shreds, furious about it, he refused to work and abandoned his company making him one of the worst business men.

He turned towards Selene and grabbed her hand, "I had told you to stay away from my business. The next time you try that, I swear you will hate what I will do to you" he strictly warned her.

"I didn't mean to..."

Before she could finish speaking he had punched the mirror into pieces.

Selene was shocked by his act. She took a deep breath and calmed herself down, she watched him pace around the room and that was when she noticed that he was bleeding from punching the mirror so hard.

She picked up a first aid kit on top of the wardrobe and walked up to him.

"You are bleeding" she grabbed his hand but he retracted it immediately.

"Don't you dare touch me" he warned strictly but she wouldn't listen to him and grabbed his hand again.

"I am sorry, I just wanted to treat your wound before you get an infection." She stubbornly grabbed Matteo's hand and forced him to stop moving. As she applied ointment to his wound, she murmured, "I know you pissed Dante off today because you wanted to avenge me."

"Don't flatter yourself. I just loathe my brother," Matteo muttered. But he dropped his unapproachable act and sat there quietly as Selene treated his bloodied hand.

Selene gently dressed his wound while promising, "Good boy. I'll leave you alone as soon as I'm done treating your wound. I promise I won't bother you again."

Matteo snorted impatiently. "Do I look like a child to you?"

Selene was amused by his reaction. "Well, you did throw a tantrum like a child."

"Say one more word and I'll kiss you," Matteo threatened in a low voice, narrowing his eyes at her.

Selene immediately fell silent and proceeded to bandage his wound without saying another word.
