Chapter 10 A match

Selene took a cab and followed Matteo's car to an underground joint. She wondered what he was doing in a place like that.

She followed him further until he entered into a restricted area. She tried to enter but was stopped by two hefty men.

"Your pass card ma'am" they asked her.

She noticed that Matteo didn't have to show his then it dawned on her that he was regular and didn't need it anymore.

"I don't have one" she answered.

"Please go back to the stands" they ordered her and she left without an hassle, walking back she was shocked to see that it was an underground wrestling ring.

There were tall iron bars as high as anyone could never climb out.

She found a lot of people betting on their champions, she wanted to check the list of fighters if she could recognize any but she couldn't.

After an hour of waiting, the event began and she took her seat searching for Matteo among the crowd.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the final match of the season between our two most fierce champions who will be fighting today. Have you already placed your bet, if you haven't then what are you waiting for. Without wasting much time, I will introduce them to you. Arden, our champion from last year, a giant that we all love and the universal champion from last season" the Mc said and a big and tall man who looked more like giant as the Mc had described bounced out roaring in the ring.

Selene began to have a bad feeling about the match.

"Is he really a fighter?" She asked the teenager close to her.

"Yes, he is the best so far, he is definitely going to win against MS" the boy answered striking a thought in her head.

Who was this MS going against a giant like that?, Is he crazy?

"Also we have our contender, all the way from the shores challenging our champion for his title, none other than MS" the mc introduced and a man walked in covered in a hoodie and some shorts.

Selene could recognize the hoodie, she had washed it before,

"No, it can't be him" she dismissed the thought of MS ever being Matteo but once the man took off his hoodie, there he was.

"Matteo" she said in shock.

The crowd went crazy after he showed his face but Selene was utterly confused.

'What was he doing in a place like that and why was he fighting a giant like Arden' she asked herself.

She watched them exchange some few words and the bell was rung commencing the match.

Arden ran towards Matteo and smashed him on the iron bars, he picked him up and smashed his body on the floor.

Selene flinched while watching it, it was so scary to watch Matteo get beaten up like that that it sent spikes through her heart.

Arden picked him once again and smashed him to the ground. Matteo laid there lifeless while Arden tried to pounce on him.

He immediately dodged it and Arden crashed on the floor, he picked himself up and dragged Arden to the bar then he scratched his face on it keeping his hands locked behind him.

Arden grabbed him instead holding him by neck, Matteo struggled hard to breath then he was thrown to the bar and he crashed to the floor, Matteo just laid there.

"I told you MS was no match for him" the teenager bragged to Selene, Selene suddenly became uneasy and just couldn't sit back and watch Matteo get beaten, she rushed forward but was stopped by two hefty men.

"I have to talk to him" she said,

"No ma'am, fans remain in the stand"

"I am not a fan, I am his wife" she barked at them trying to push through.

"Ma'am don't let us throw you out" they warned her not convinced by it.

"Listen to me, if Matteo finds out that you didn't let his wife through then you know exactly what would happen to you" she threatened them.

The guards were more surprised that she knew his name so they had no choice than to allow her.

"Matteo" she whispered behind him,

Matteo opened his eyes, he thought he was just hearing voices so he smiled,

"Matteo, it's me Selene" she said and he immediately turned to her.

"What are you doing here?" he asked surprised to see her, how he got the strength to get on his feet startled him.

"I followed you here but that is not the issue here, why the hell are you not fighting" she asked him and he was startled by the question.

"Does it look like I was playing?" she asked.

"Well I just thought a man who is as big as you are and is capable of making me get scared all the time, isn't able fight that giant. You are not much of what I expected" she stated.

Selene and Matteo weren't that close to encourage each other so she thought that instead of encouraging him, she could get him more furious than before.

"I am tougher than you think" he defended.

"Then show me" she answered and stepped back from him.

Matteo watched Arden come closer to him and he waited reading his next move, Arden bent down to pick him but instead he slipped underneath him and waited for him to stand back up before he grabbed him by the neck and threw him the ground.

He used all his strength to pick him up on his shoulders and then threw him to the bars.

He dragged him towards the centre and fell on his hard chest, he picked him up and gave him a suplex three times then carried his leg up and once the three count was read he got the final victory.

"Unbelievable, we have a new champion. MS has defeated the Giant" the mc announced and there was so much cheering among the crowd.

Selene was seen jumping around and Matteo couldn't help but laugh as he staggered in the ring.

Selene and Matteo strolled down the streets silently. Neither of them spoke a word for a long time. Matteo decided against driving home, as he was exhausted from the match. Moreover, he found himself wanting to spend some time with Selene for some reason.

"Do you really love wrestling?" Selene asked.

Due to the night he had stayed out late returning home in bruises and cuts, Selene believed he would have lost if she wasn't there because he looked like he wanted to be beaten up instead of fighting.

Instead of him quitting after each loss, he still went ahead to fight and she could pick from that how much he loved fighting.

"Yeah I do, it relieves me" he answered and she was startled by it.

He had never answered any of her questions before always asking her to mind her business and not bother with him.

"I never knew you liked it that much, that explains your morning training and why you are so muscular" she said, more talking to herself about it and then kept quiet for a while.

"You said you were always scared of me?" He asked recalling her statement.

"Yeah, sometimes I feel like you could crush me in your hands. I look small compared to you even my head stops at your neck yet you seem to dominate each time. Sometimes, I just wish I could run away from your presence." she explained the times she had always been terrified of him.

"I never knew I was that scary" he commented.

"It's alright, I know I get on your last nerves and it is mostly my fault that you are married to me so you can vent your anger on me, I will take it." she stated sounding all tough.

"Though I am surprised why you haven't scolded me yet for following you" she said.

"Why should I, I wouldn't have won without you" he answered and stepped into the Mount Villa. Selene walked silently behind him.

Her heart was beating fast. She was happy when Matteo admitted that her words of encouragement helped him win. She had a wonderful feeling, knowing that the distance between them was decreaseing even just a little bit by this incident. After all, she was the first person who found out his secret.
