Chapter 5 Interview

Three days later.

Deanna smoothed her suit and strutted into Yonder.

The perfectly-tailored suit accentuated her slender waist and long legs. Her lengthy locks were tied into a bun, and wisps of bangs framed her cheeks, making her look feminine and alluring.

She was the third interviewee today. Deanna sat down outside the room and waited patiently. Soon, the two candidates walked out one by one, and someone called her name.

Deanna confidently strode into the room. Dario sat at the center, wearing a black suit and a tie.

He looked like a thorough professional.

His face was as cold as usual, and his eyes narrowed.

Deanna tried her best not to look at Dario. Considering her talent and potential, she believed she would undoubtedly get a chance to work for the company.

Deanna flashed a polite smile and introduced herself.

"My name is Deanna Miller. I graduated from..."

However, Dario stood up before Deanna finished her sentence.

"Don't waste our time introducing yourself. You don't seem like the right candidate for Yonder."

All the interviewers unanimously turned to look at Dario.

They wondered what was wrong with their CEO today.

He didn't bother to listen to the candidate's introduction before making a decision.

Dario walked to the door and announced, "Today's interview is over."

With that, he slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

Deanna bit her lower lip, her face flushed with embarrassment.

The interviewers had never encountered such a situation before.

"We are sorry, Miss Miller. You can leave now. Please wait for the result," one of the interviewers said with an apologetic smile.

Deanna smiled. "I appreciate you all for giving me a chance. Thank you."

Deanna walked out and gnashed her teeth in anger. She knew Dario was deliberately humiliating her.

Deanna took the elevator to the eighteenth floor. She ran into Bruce as soon as she stepped out.

"Mr. Prescott!" Deanna's eyes widened in surprise.

She had been meaning to meet Bruce to inquire about something but didn't expect to meet him here.

Bruce smiled at her. "Deanna, what are you doing here?"

"I came here for an interview, but my cousin-in-law has some important work to do, so I came here, looking for him."

Deanna was a pretty woman. The tight suit seemed to accentuate her features. She was tall with a slender frame.

Bruce's Adam's apple bobbed as he glanced at her slender waist.

"Your cousin is going to marry Mr. Archer soon. You'll be his family soon. Do you have to attend the interview?"

"Of course, I do." Deanna giggled. "I want to go through the professional hiring process. What are you doing here, Mr. Prescott?"

Bruce gave her body a once-over again before replying, "There is a change in the board of directors. I came to see what's going on."

"Oh, I see."

Deanna nodded with disappointment. "Last night was the first time I saw you since my parents passed away. I wanted to talk with you. But it's obvious you are busy, so you carry on with your work."

Bruce immediately said, "I'm free now. There's still an hour left for the meeting to commence. Why don't we go to my office and have some coffee?"

"That's great!" Deanna clapped her hands, feigning excitement.

"Let's go." Bruce reached out and held Deanna's waist.

Deanna's forehead creased with a frown. However, she pretended to be calm and talked with Bruce, laughing from time to time.

Dario accidentally saw the surveillance video of the corridor in his office.

His eyes turned icier than before.

He couldn't believe Deanna had stooped low and hooked up with an old man to get a job in Yonder.

Just then, the secretary reported the day's schedule to him.

Dario grew frustrated.

"Get out!"

The secretary flinched back in fear when she heard that. "Mr. Archer..."

"Didn't you hear what I said?"

Dario glared at her.

The secretary shuddered and hurried out.

Meanwhile, Bruce brought a cup of coffee for Deanna.

"I heard you had been studying abroad for years. You must have been lonely," Bruce remarked, his hungry eyes never wandering away from Deanna's good figure.

Bile rose in Deanna's throat. She felt sick and cursed him in her heart.

Bruce had been kind to Deanna when her parents were still alive. She was surprised to see him openly express his inappropriate desires for her.

"Well, it's actually not a big deal." She smiled. "Mr. Prescott, I heard you were abroad. Why did you return suddenly?"

Bruce chuckled. "When people grow old, they'd prefer returning to their hometown. But, wow! A lot has changed when I was away. Fortunately, your uncle has been supporting the Miller Group. I'm sorry about your parents. I'm sure they're in a better place now."

Hearing that, Deanna looked at him and asked, "Do you know how my parents died?"

Bruce sat beside Deanna. He reached out and patted the back of her hand.

"I heard they met with a car accident. I'm sorry for your loss."

Deanna gritted her teeth, controlling her disgust, and asked, "I remember my parents collaborated with you when they were alive. Do you have any idea why my family went bankrupt and why my uncle returned from abroad and took over the company?"

Bruce took Deanna's hand and stroked it.

"It's a long story. If you want to know about it, we can discuss it at another place."

The lust in his eyes made her stomach churn. She forced a smile and slowly withdrew her hand. "Mr. Prescott, please disclose some information now so that I can judge whether there is a need to do that."

Bruce's desire spiked up in an instant.

He wrapped his arm around Deanna's waist and brought his mouth close to her ear.

Just as he was about to say something, the door flew open, and Dario walked in.

Bruce instantly withdrew his hand and stood up. "Dario, the meeting hasn't begun yet, has it?"

"You haven't finished your interview yet. Who permitted you to leave?" Dario glared at Deanna.

Bruce smiled and said, "You two will be families soon. I don't think you need to interview Deanna. Dario, you can..."

However, Dario ignored Bruce and bellowed at Deanna, "Come out!"

Deanna bit her bottom lip and stood up.

"Mr. Prescott, Dario is finally free. I need to attend the interview first. I'll visit you soon."

Dario returned to his office.

Deanna quickened her pace and followed him. "Didn't you say I'm not suitable for the job?"

Dario turned around and pressed her against the wall.

His towering frame overshadowed Deanna's petite figure.

"So you went to see Bruce?"

She grew flustered after meeting his cold gaze.

"He is my father's friend. I just wanted to inquire about something."

Dario sneered. "And you were going to discuss it on his bed?"

The blood on her face drained in an instant. No wonder he despised her. Dario had assumed she was a wild, promiscuous woman.

Her face broke into a sarcastic smile as she remembered seeing the blood stain in her underwear.

Taking revenge was her main goal. She didn't care about what others thought of her.

She took a deep breath and raised her head to look up at him.

She smiled. "I don't give a damn about what you think of me. You didn't like me working for your company. Why can't I ask for help from someone else?"

Dario suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him, their faces inches apart.
