Chapter 6 Greed

When their eyes locked, Dario pressed his lips against Deanna's and kissed her passionately.

He bit her lip as if deliberately punishing her.

The taste of blood mingled with the kiss.

"Gosh, are you a dog?" Deanna wiped her mouth and glared at him angrily. Her rosy lips somehow looked more attractive.

The lust in Dario's eyes vanished. "Isn't this what you wanted?" He sneered.

An idea occurred to Deanna. She rested her hands on his chest. "What if I want more?"

"Don't be too greedy."

"Oh, that's because you're too charming."

Dario pushed her the next second.

He lit a cigarette and calmly looked at her. "You can be my assistant. But on one condition."

Deanna blinked and looked at him. "What is it?"

"You have to be at my beck and call."

He slowly raked his eyes over the length of her body.

His glistening eyes revealed the filthy thoughts going on in his mind.

Deanna readily nodded. "Do you want to continue this deal even after you get married?"

She insinuated there should be a time limit for their relationship.

He took a puff of his cigarette and shook his head. "Don't worry. I'd be tired of you by then."

"Okay, I'll be waiting for that."

Deanna successfully got a job at Yonder as Dario's assistant.

Hearing the news, Jeannie rushed to the company right away.

Anger bubbled up within her when she saw Deanna's desk was right in front of Dario's. She clenched her fists, and her nails dug into her flesh.

Deanna was dressed in a white business suit that accentuated her slender waist. Even the simple movement of handing him the documents seemed to attract Dario.

Jeannie couldn't stand it anymore. She knocked on the door and barged into his office.

She quickly tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and forced a sweet smile at Dario.

"Dario, I assume Deanna would bother you if she works here. I spoke to my father. He said he would offer her a position in our company."

She didn't wait for Dario's response and turned to look at Deanna.

"Deanna, didn't you say you just needed a job and didn't care about the company you're going to work for? You should start with basic jobs, gain experience, and move your way up. Working in the Miller Group would offer you more exposure."

Jeannie pretended to seem concerned about Deanna.

"Oops! It's too late, Jeannie." She smiled. "I've already gone through the procedure and signed the contract."

If she joined the Miller Group, she wouldn't have the freedom to do anything.

Deanna wasn't stupid to make such a decision.

"Oh, don't worry about the contract. It's no big deal. Dario, why don't you talk to the human resources department about it? After all, Deanna didn't get the job through ethical means."

Jeannie believed Deanna had no skills and used dirty means to please men to get what she wanted.

However, to her utter surprise, Dario banged the table.

"She has defeated the other candidates and got this job."

"What?" Jeannie's eyes widened in surprise. "Dario, are you kidding me?"

Dario didn't reply.

He wasn't lying. He, too, was surprised at Deanna's performance in the interview he later scheduled for her.

Dario thought Deanna only knew how to seduce men.

He didn't expect her to possess great potential for work.

She was undoubtedly qualified to be his assistant.

"Jeannie, please get out of my way."

Holding a stack of documents in her arms, Deanna cast a provocative look at her.

"You!" Jeannie glared at her and remained still.

"Dario is having a meeting soon. His work will be delayed if you don't get out of my way."

Deanna turned and winked at Dario.

The atmosphere in the room somehow became romantic.

Jeannie had no choice but to step aside.

Soon, it was time for the meeting. Deanna and Dario walked out of the office.

Jeannie's stomach flipped as she felt like an outsider.

Although she felt Dario didn't have a good impression of Deanna, she didn't like him getting closer to her.

Jeannie took out her phone and called Vernon.

Deanna garnered everyone's attention as soon she stepped into the conference room.

It wasn't merely because of her beauty. People were curious as to why Dario had chosen such a beautiful woman as his assistant.

Deanna sensed the strange look in everyone's eyes.

However, she just ignored and focused on her work.

Deanna adjusted the projector and turned to look at Dario. "Mr. Archer, we can start the meeting now."

Her business-like tone startled Dario.

He felt she had changed into a whole new person.

Deanna returned to her seat. Bruce snorted with disdain when he looked at her. "This meeting is only for the senior executives of Yonder. Not everyone can be a part of it."

Everyone knew his words were targeted at Deanna.

Some shared his thoughts and expressed their dissatisfaction.

"Yonder always follows a stringent recruitment process. You can't get the position just with your good looks."

"Don't waste our time. Please leave the meeting."

Deanna looked at the people criticizing her one after the other.

Her palms grew sweaty. She didn't know what to do.

Everyone had turned against her. She looked to Dario for help, who seemed to ignore her.

He behaved as if he didn't know her.

Knowing she was all by herself, Deanna took a deep breath and addressed the crowd.

"I became Mr. Archer's assistant only after passing the formal interview. If you don't believe me, you can check the video. Mock and criticize me as much as you want, but please don't question Mr. Archer's judgment."

The room fell silent.

She implied criticizing her meant criticizing Dario.

Everyone present made no more remarks.

They didn't dare offend Dario.

Bruce glared at Deanna. He had no choice but to suppress his anger.

Deanna understood the man's true colors.

Bruce said he had a good relationship with her father, but she understood him very well now.

He was trying to make things difficult for her. Bruce was obviously on Vernon's side.

Soon the meeting ended, and the crowd dispersed.

Deanna packed the documents.

Just as she was about to leave, she realized Dario was still in the room.

He walked up to Deanna and hooked his finger under her chin. "How dare you use me?"

"Dario, what are you saying? I don't understand." Deanna batted her eyelashes, feigning innocence.

"I hate it when people use me. If it happens again, you'll have to face dire consequences."
