Chapter 5 Arkville

The woman with the dark blonde hair supposedly her mother sits relaxed with her face void of any emotions beside her glancing at a magazine, The chauffeur drives a black Mercedes that blocks out the sound of the bustling central city

Arkville

The car drives into a neighbourhood that looks like its made up of castles with their stone fences and iron gates. The car drives through the black gate by the estate stopping right in front of the white two storey mansions, its humongous with a paved driveway and perfectly shaped green hedges on the side leading up to the entrance.

Amelia accepts the proffered hand of the man in a black coat and black pants softly muttering her gratitude.

'' welcome miss white, it is great to have you back in the house, I am butler Lee ''

The middle aged man said almost in a robotic tone giving a light bow

The boot of the car opens making Amelia walk over to take her suitcase

'' please allow me''

The butler intercepts taking a hold of the suitcase but Amelia doesn't relent feeling uncomfortable

''No thanks, I will take it myself''

She said glancing at the suitcase holding soft materials of obviously big brands her mother had brought for her stay.

''Just let her take the bag Lee, it has been a long day and I have to go back to the company''

Cara, her mother said leaning closer to place a kiss on her cheek before bidding her goodbye, not even taking a glance back but she tries to understand.

Amelia watched as she drove away feeling relieved and yet not so relieved, they all felt like strangers to her but she has at least spent some days with her.

The butler leads her into the mansion, she is met with vast white space with marbled floors

She takes in the walls plastered with art as they climb the winding stairs, the art were cultured yet unnerving, she clenched at her suitcase, the feeling of not belonging crawling up her throat.

'' it doesn't feel like I have lived here all my life ''

She comments stopping right behind the quite young maid who looks rather frightened, she could see her hand clenching and unclenching by the side as she refused to meet Amelia in the eyes

'' well you have miss, in fact this is your room, we made sure to keep it the same during your stay at the hospital''

The maid wrung her hands together, looking like she might bolt out of her sight if given the chance.

Amelia smiles trying to ease the tension

'' my room is ridiculously dark, how do I open the windows ''

She drops her suitcase walking up to the big curtains that cover the window and leaving the room shrouded in darkness, everything in the room are either gray or black, they were cool colors but it seems like the room was washed in it, it was like a black and white film.

''You just pull on this ''

The shaky voice of the maid brings her out of her thought, her bony hands going to pull on the strings and revealing the windows looking out the over the expansive lawns laid out.

'' and if you need anything, you can call by the telephone, we would be at your assistance''

She rushed out

''Oh, I thought I would be getting a tour around the house seeing as I don't remember anything ''

Amelia smiles politely going over to sit by the bed to rest her aching feet

'' I thought you might be tired miss, but I can give you a tour now if you want ''

Amelia shakes her head seeing how the whole person persona screams uncomfortable, she wonders what makes the woman so wary of her

'' no its okay, I guess I would see you around Mary '

She said glancing at her name tag

''And you can just call me Amelia ''

The name came out strange in her mouth.

''I can't possibly do that miss white, forgive me''

Mary bows slightly before making her way out of the room not even giving Amelia a chance to refuse.

Weird

Amelia thought staring at the maid hastily making her way out like she was a volcano ready to explode

The mansion is as quiet as it has always been only making Amelia creeper out as she huddled under the covers, the ridiculously tall tree branch scraping against the window only makes everything more creepy but that was not what woke her up, the insistent ringing of a telephone though not in her room woke her up

Her extremely sensitive ears picking up the sound even though it is coming from somewhere else metres away from her.

She softly padded her socks covered feet on the floor liking the warmth emitting from it, she takes hesitant steps toward the door softly opening it, the hallway is empty with the warm light of the lamps situated by the wall illuminating it.

She follows the ringing into the living room space, nobody was there as Amelia gets close to the telephone by the wall, she looks at the ringing phone for a full minutes waiting for it to stop ringing so she wouldn't have to pick it, after all even though she might be living here, it doesn't feel right, the ringing stops making her heave a sigh of relief ready to go back to the comfort of those sheets whose softness are out of this world

Riii!!

The phone rings again, she cusses glaring straight at the phone, in her anger she picks the phone placing it by her ear

''Hello''

She spits in displeasure

''Hello ''

She repeats hearing no answer from the other side

''Look, I don't know who you are but don't you think its too late to be playing stupid prank calls like this ''

She sighs hearing no answer from the other

'' I am going to hang up and you better not call again ''

She said ready to hang up

'' Hannah!''

A high pitched voice came out through the phone
