Chapter 4 Abase

She heard indistinct chatters, they were calm and carried some sort of worry, her eyes feel heavy as she tries to open them, they refused to cooperate with her mind making her panic at the feeling, her heart rate monitor beeps very loudly indicating the spike in her heart rate.

She felt like she was falling into complete abyss, tears pooled at the side of her eyes and she tries to wiggle her finger, it lays unresponsive, the feeling of helplessness coming back to her, she doesn't know when she passed out again.

The smell of antiseptic makes her wiggle her nose at the stench, her ears also picking up the sound of beeping, she felt her eyelids twitch, her sight blurry at first making her blink rapidly before her vision started to come into focus.

Her eyes flicked a few feet to a young woman clad in a black dress, her eyes staring intently at her as she watches her struggle to make sense of her body that remains lethargic.

'' what is going on ''

The question came out clearer that she expected it, her throat burning at the movement, she desperately needs water

'' easy there sweetheart ''

The woman came closer with a glass of water in her hand, her overpowering scent immediately assaulting Hannah's sensitive nose, the glass came close to her lips pouring the water down her throat

'' thank you ''

She tries to smile but it hurts to so it came out as an awkward grimace.

'' I don't understand ''

The word came out in a whisper, it was a bad feeling, washing over her like something dreadful and gripping her poor heart as she stared at the unfamiliar woman who looks at her with a look she can't decipher

'' I can't remember anything ''

The word came out in a jumbled mess, she suddenly feel something clogging at her throat as tears make their way down her face, for no reason, she feels really sad and trapped

Who am i and what am i doing here?

She thinks to herself staring at the mirror conveniently placed by the wall opposite her

'' you are my mother ''

It came out more like a statement, it was hard to believe the woman standing before her, her full lips painted in red pulled to a comforting smile and her strawberry blonde hair pulled into a tight bun not one strand out of place, her green eyes are hypnotic making her look more trusting, it was really hard to believe this woman is her mother, a woman that looks like she couldn't be much older than her, the woman nods her head in affirmation.

'' the car accident have been traumatic, to you and to all of us ''

Her mother sighs, before sitting ever so gracefully beside her on the bed, her hand goes to caress her soft dark hair.

'' I really don't remember anything ''

Her voice came out timidly, like always when she is in the presence of the woman.

'' of course you don't, you have been in and out of sleep for two months, we expected this sweetheart but everything will come back to you by pieces, we just have to be patient Amelia ''

She snaps her head up at the mention of the name

'' Amelia ?''

She questioned testing the name on her tongue if it would come with any form of familiarity

'' yes, that's your name, beautiful isn't it''

'' I am just glad you are okay''

She is pulled into the comforting arms of the woman, Amelia sighs at this before hesitantly bringing up her hand to hug the woman, after all this is her mother, she should trust what she says, she is the one whose face she has been seeing for the past month

'' and others, why is it only you here always ''

She finds herself asking

''Your dad can get pretty busy but he cares for you, you are going to see him soon''

She gives her a reassuring smile

Amelia looks forward to it.
