Chapter 6 Why Elena

At the breakfast table,

"Where is Alec?" Elena asked Ricky.

"He said he is going for some important work". Elena nodded.

When Alec came back he saw El in the hotel lawn.

She was on a call.

As he got closer he heard her saying "I'm doing fine Mark, don't worry. Bye" he walked closer to her back and said

"Miss".

She was startled again. She turned around and looked the same way she did the previous day at the jewellery store.

Letting out a long breath she said "You startled me again Mr. Wilson".

Alec was busy adoring the way she looked right now with her cheeks turning deep shade of pink.

"You haven't yet told me your name" Alec said

"Mr. Wilson, I'm sorry but I've to make an important call" she started to head inside the hotel lobby when Alec stopped her

"wait, miss" seeing that there is nobody around, He took out a box from his pocket and handed it to her,

"I bought this for you." She opened the box and was astonished to see what the box contained.

It was the same bracelet she was eyeing yesterday.

"I appreciate your thought behind the gift Mr. Wilson, but I.." she paused for a moment and continued

"I can't accept this, it's very expensive".

"Not for Alec Wilson '', he replied in a stern voice.

"I'm really sorry Mr. Wilson, it won't be appropriate of me to accept such expensive gifts from my friend's groom." she said in an anxious way.

"I've got to attend to something important" she said as she handed the box back to Alec and hurried inside the hotel.

Alec was more enraged than disappointed from her reaction.

He never thought someone would deny his gift.

Alec took the bracelet from the box and clutched it in his hand saying

"I'll have you soon miss."

He turned around and saw Ricky approaching him.

"What are you upto Alec?" Ricky asked.

His voice carried a serious tone which was unlike his usual self.

"Let me remind you, its your wedding tomorrow."

Ignoring Ricky's words Alec said

"I want her Ricky and I will have her. The wedding has nothing to do with it".

Ricky was shocked with Alec's reaction

"Do you understand what you are saying right now, this is wrong Alec" Ricky said firmly.

"Don't worry, I won't force myself on her. But she has to be mine" Alec said with his eyes filled with fury.

"Don't do something that you might regret later"

Ricky said and let out a sigh. He knew right now Alec won't listen to his reasoning and chose to stay quiet on that matter.

"Join me for drinks", Alec asked Ricky after he stopped lecturing about right and wrong.

"Sure" Ricky agreed even though it was too early in the day to have drinks.

After few drinks, Ricky asked "Why don't you call off the wedding?"

"No, the wedding has to happen as planned, my parents and grandma will be arriving soon everything will go as planned."

"And what about the things unplanned", Ricky was clearly asking about El.

"You are obviously infatuated towards her."

"I've my own plans for it, Ricky." Alec replied with a smirk on his face.

Ricky was troubled with Alec's reply.

Alec received a message on his phone saying that his family will be here in an hour. He was going to leave when Ricky stopped him and asked

"Why Elena?",

"I know she is materialistic and shallow, but that is better than those scheming daughters of rich businessmen. Besides, my mother likes her as well. She'll fit into the role of the lady of Wilson's household soon enough."

"But what about you? Do you love her?" Ricky asked.

"There is no such thing as Love." Alec said and departed from Ricky.

Ricky was left alone in the bar when he said in a soft voice "I hope I'll marry out of love".

When his parents arrived he got them settled in their respective suites.

He remained in his grandma's suite to accompany her. They talked for hours, soon it was dusk.

Alec was standing near the suite's window when he saw El sitting on a bench in the lawn.

"Are you happy with the wedding Alec?" Grandma asked.

Alec continued looking at El and mechanically nodded.

"I wish you married her, but she has disappeared into thin air." Alec understood what his grandmother was talking about and his nose scrunched.

"Let's not talk about it Grandma."

"I'll be back, rest well" saying this he left the suite and strode to the lawn.
