Chapter 7 Come to Party

Only then close the car door and leave with Laura.

Dona's eyes clearly showed pride, but Hadrian didn't encourage her. The despair and heartache within Clara's heart penetrated her limbs, and then her body trembled.

Hadrian turned and saw Clara standing there, unmoving. For some reason, Hadrian noticed that the woman was getting thinner.

"Hadrian, you and her... Are you guys together?"

Clara took a breath and asked.

"I didn't think Dona would come, much less about what she just did. Even though I don't love you, I wouldn't do something like that to you before the divorce. This is the explanation I can give. It doesn't matter to me whether you accept it or not. "

"Then you like it, don't you?" asked Clara.

"Clara, it's none of your business to mind mine."

As everyone knew, Hadrian's words were like a sharp knife piercing Clara's heart. Did Hadrian never love me?

After the man finished speaking, Hadrian walked past Clara and into the house.

But, suddenly, the man felt his waist being hugged tightly by a pair of hands. He lowered his eyes and looked down. The temperature of the woman's hand was tightly pressed against Hadrian's waist.

A small head rested on Hadrian's back, and a hoarse voice of sorrow emerged, "Hadrian, I love you, I love you so much. Can't you like me a little? I don't want a divorce."

Hadrian didn't answer. He let go of Clara's hand and went straight upstairs.

The air around was filled with an aura of heartbreak, and Clara finally couldn't hold back the tears from falling.

*

The money's gone.

Clara remembers that a newly opened pastry shop near her house can give out a free piece of freshly baked bread every day.

So, she brought her ID and wallet and fed White with dog food before going out alone.

The clerk who looked after the cake shop was a very cute young woman. She thought it was a shame to receive free bread, but the young woman served Clara with bread enthusiastically and urged her to eat quickly. Otherwise, it would get cold, and it wouldn't taste good.

After eating bread, Clara ordered a taxi and went to the hospital.

She sat on a bench in the corridor and looked at the pregnant woman next to her. They are all accompanied by a partner. The caring and sweet words between husband and wife made Clara seem alone.

After doing some basic prenatal checkups, the doctor urged her to eat more nutritional supplements that are good for the child.

After being discharged from the hospital, Clara thought about how to make money and where she could make money to buy nutritional products for the unborn child.

She didn't accept the check Hadrian had given him earlier. Looking back now, she felt a little regretful.

Clara is from another city and can only live in New York because she is married to Hadrian.

So the girl has no friends here.

Since she is currently pregnant with a child, so she can only find a few odd or part-time jobs.

The hospital is next door to downtown New York. She wanted to try her luck and walked to downtown New York to see if nearby shops were hiring temporary workers.

Maybe because Clara was so serious about looking for work, she didn't notice that her cell phone had been ringing for a long time.

When she took out her phone to check the time, Clara realized that Hadrian had made three calls.

She called back and connected quickly.

Hadrian didn't blame Clara at all for not answering the phone. What is she doing? He didn't care at all, so it wasn't a problem. He said directly, "There's a party at night. Where are you? I'll let someone come and pick you up."

After providing an address, a black Rolls-Royce immediately stopped in front of Clara.

He asked her to cut her hair, change into a white dress, match high heels, and then be invited to a top club in New York.

Along the way, someone took Clara to the top floor.

Hadrian stood at the door to greet Clara.

Hadrian tonight is handsome.

Black hair gently fluttered on his white cheeks, under sharp black eyebrows, a pair of deep and pure grey eyes, a sharp nose accentuating his unruly personality, and a pair of thin lips that were slightly raised.

His black slim-fit suit was not traditional but had trendy stitching and fashion designs. It looks sleek and straight without being too stiff. The collar is narrow, and the color is the same as the suit so it won't look too contrasting. It is adorned with a glittering diamond brooch, making the whole black suit more eye-catching.

Although Clara was calm on the surface, she was very nervous on the inside.

Hadrian said softly to her, "Don't be nervous," then took Clara's hand and put it in his arm.

Clara grabbed Hadrian's arm and followed him all the way. As soon as she entered, Clara could see a uniquely designed hall. She saw many handsome men and beautiful women. Beautiful, well-groomed women and handsome men in leather suits and shoes. Flowers, food, wine, everything complements each other like that.

Tonight's banquet was different from usual. It was a private banquet hosted by the Grahams, and they invited well-known and wealthy families in American circles to attend.

On the surface, it was just a simple exchange banquet between a businessman and a rich family, but it was a good opportunity to expand contacts and find cooperation.

Of course, the process of expanding their contacts is indispensable among wealthy families.

The key point is that you can find a suitable rich partner or family to marry.

They are all smart people, no need to talk much.

On the other hand, Hadrian hated this hypocritical and boring banquet the most.

But Corwin's uncle called and ordered Hadrian to take Clara with him. There is no reason to refuse.

He had always been most afraid of Uncle Corwin and had to obey.

Hadrian led Clara to the deepest corner of the sofa at the party to avoid getting involved with anyone else.

In America's upper-class circles, Hadrian was renowned as the golden bachelor. He is handsome, rich, and powerful. Rich women are roaming around Hadrian like annoying flies, very annoying.

So he just wanted to find a quiet corner for a drink.

Clara obediently sat on the sofa next to Hadrian. She didn't dare to move or speak nonsense at such an important meeting. She was afraid she would embarrass Hadrian.

After a while, some rich young businessmen walked toward Hadrian with wine glasses.

"Master Hadrian Dawson, I've been looking for you for a long time, but you're hiding here." Rex Foster, the eldest son of the speaking Foster family. He was unfamiliar with Hadrian, but the two had communicated several times.

The latter two are friends Hadrian grew up with, Miles Hall and Paul King.

They also hate this kind of boring party. Everyone hypocritically clinked their wine glasses, exchanged business cards, and left.

Better to go racing with friends or go out to sea to play with the yachts.

Paul King put his hand on Hadrian's shoulder, leaned close to Hadrian's ear, and asked, "Why did you think of bringing your wife here tonight? This rarely happens!"

Although the man spoke quietly, Clara was sitting next to Hadrian, but she could still hear.

Clara pretended not to hear and quietly poured herself a glass of orange juice and drank it.

"Don't mention it here. What are you doing? You were also brought here by your father?" Hadrian asked.

"Why do you ask? My date tonight was all for nothing." Paul is the only child of the King family. He didn't want to be tied to his family at a young age.

But on important occasions, the older man in the family would still force Paul to attend.

Everyone chatted with each other, and Clara, who was sitting in the corner, seemed to be forgotten by everyone.

Clara felt that she was out of tune with this place. She was so hungry that she didn't dare move. After drinking a few glasses of orange juice, she didn't dare to drink anymore.

She prayed that the party would end soon, and after returning, she had to take the beef out of the fridge to cook a big bowl of meat noodles and then go to bed after eating.

But Hadrian and the others were led into a private room by an older, bespectacled middle-aged man, and they were quietly chatting about something.

Clara was left alone.

After waiting a long time without seeing Hadrian return, Clara was so hungry that she got up and walked to the food area.

All kinds of mains, as well as some lovely and interesting desserts. Seeing that, Clara's eyes lit up.

She filled some food on the plate, walked back to the sofa area, and ate slowly.

"Hello, my name is Miles Hall. When you and Hadrian got married, we met before. I wonder if you still remember?"

"Remember, my name is Clara."

"Are you bored? You can take food to the balcony outside to eat there. The view is very nice."

Clara shyly answered Miles' words and smiled awkwardly.

"Let's go, and I'm hungry too. I'll bring you better food. If you don't mind, you can sit and eat on the outside balcony."

Clara agreed without much thought when she heard about the delicious food.

When Hadrian was out with Paul, he didn't think much of Clara's absence, thinking she might go to the bathroom or play with her cell phone in the corner.

Hadrian wouldn't have noticed if Paul hadn't told him that the two were eating on the outside balcony.

Hadrian passed through the banquet hall and gently pushed open the balcony door, only to find the two sitting at the far end, eating and chatting.
