Chapter 5 A Fact

"Laura, where should you sit? Do you still need your uncle to teach you?" Corwin's gruff and loud voice rang out. Laura walked to Clara with her head down and whispered, "Sister-in-law, stand up. "

All eyes were focused on the small movement of the two of them swapping seats.

The dishes were served one by one.

The dish was enchanting, looked delicious and appetizing.

Clara had been hungry all afternoon, and her eyes lit up when she saw this dish.

Everyone sat up straight, and when Corwin spoke, everyone moved their spoons and forks, and the restraint and silence disappeared.

Hadrian and Lionel have a very good relationship. Once they opened the conversation, they chatted about topics between men while eating.

But there was Clara in their midst. Clara lowered her head to eat and didn't dare look up for fear of interrupting their conversation.

The food made by the Dawson family is absolutely delicious.

At that time, she was most looking forward to returning to the main house to have dinner with Hadrian.

Hadrian's grandfather once said the Dawsons' chefs were national first-class chefs.

He is a great chef hired by the Dawsons for a high salary.

Clara was stunned for a moment. It sounded amazing; no wonder it tasted good.

The Dawsons chatted and laughed at the dinner table, but Clara was forgotten.

Clara didn't think much of it and focused on eating.

Laura didn't like her brother marrying a woman from the lower classes to become his wife. After careful thought, she put a piece of fresh fish into Clara's bowl, "Sister-in-law, try this piece of fish. It's very delicious."

Clara nodded obediently. When the fish meat entered her mouth, the taste was not right, spicy. Clara didn't like spicy food, but she couldn't spit it out at the moment, so she could only endure it and eat it.

In less than a minute, disgusting nausea rushed through her throat. Clara ignored politeness and quickly ran to the bathroom.

Holding the rim of the toilet, Clara vomited whatever she had just eaten.

Finally, a yellow liquid was spat out, and her face was pale.

She turned on the faucet, took some water and splashed it on her slightly pale face. The coldness of the water-cooled her.

At this time, Hadrian entered.

He locked the door, grabbed Clara's collar, and said sternly, "Are you being so disrespectful to me? How did my sister offend you? You want to treat her like this?"

Clara understood. Hadrian said it was a misunderstanding and that she was deliberately humiliating Laura.

'Son, your father, is blind,' Clara thought.

"No, I just feel sick to my stomach."

"Huh," Hadrian snorted coldly, let go of the girl, turned on the faucet, washed his hands, and said casually, "Clara, don't make trouble, or I'll get you out of the house right now."

Return to her seat.

Everyone's eyes once again focused on Clara.

Clara felt like she was sitting on nails and needles and wanted to run away.

This is not her house. This is their house.

They would not accept a lowly woman like her and admit she was part of the Dawson family.

And Corwin put down the spoon, his piercing eyes sweeping over everyone's body, and turned to ask gently and concernedly, "Clara, are you all right? Is there any discomfort in your body?"

Clara shook her head and smiled slightly, "It's okay. I just have a stomach ache."

"Well, since it's fine, let's eat."

Everyone continued to chat while eating.

On the other hand, Laura was very upset. She was reprimanded by Uncle Corwin several times today, all because of Clara.

Laura couldn't understand it either. Anyone who wasn't blind could see that the Dawsons didn't like Clara, but she could still follow her brother back to dinner, pretending nothing had happened.

"Sister-in-law, my birthday is coming; what gift will you give me?"

"What do you like?" Clara asked.

"I really like something like a Gucci bag, Hermes. I don't know if my sister-in-law can afford it?"

Clara, who heard it, immediately understood that the sister-in-law was mocking her with slightly polite words.

Clara peeked at Hadrian sitting next to her and saw that he was expressionless. Clara pretended to smile calmly, "Do your best."

Clara has no money.

Ever since she married the Dawsons, Hadrian and his family never gave Clara a dime except for some money from her grandfather in the beginning.

They never paid attention to the young woman forced to marry Hadrian, not knowing what kind of kindness Clara had given the old, dead man.

Her skin is beautiful, but she has an oddity in her body and won't be able to have children; what's the point? Because the majority of the Dawsons, except the old man, thought Clara was bleeding because she had an illness in her womb and couldn't bear children for Hadrian.

And Hadrian was even more annoying.

Hadrian was always generous, but he didn't care about his wife. It wasn't that the man was reluctant to give money, but he didn't like spending half his money on someone like this, who was trying his best to marry into a rich family, because he thought Clara wasn't worthy.

And Clara married Hadrian when she was less than 20 years old. She didn't graduate from college, and she didn't have a job. She had a very difficult life.

In terms of material, we never pursued anything. As long as two people are happy together, there's nothing wrong with simple things.

All he wants is love from someone.

Unfortunately, the father of the child she was carrying never believed in her.

Seeing the silence for a while, Mrs Kalysta rushed out to defuse the situation. She filled Clara with a bowl of soup made of shark fin with a spoon and placed it in front of Clara, softly saying, "Clara, you are too thin; drink this soup. Even if you can't have children, you must respect your body."

Clara knew that there was a hidden needle in those words.

She didn't argue and drank the soup quietly.

That's why she was completely rejected, simply because they thought she was sick and poor.

She originally thought that at least her husband could stand by her side and protect her with a few words.

But he didn't.

Clara couldn't help it and wanted to immediately jump to her feet and roar loudly, "Who says I can't give birth? What's in my stomach is your Dawson family seed!"

But after thinking about it again, no one in the entire family would stand up and say a word for her. Her heart felt cold.

So, she kept quiet.

The whole family comes to bully and humiliate her. Clara began to ponder. How long could such a family last even if he and Hadrian made peace?

The sound of a spoon dropped loudly, and Corwin's gloomy face was ugly as he said, "Enough. What's wrong with you? Because Clara is married to the Dawsons, she belongs to the Dawsons and is Hadrian's wife. Why are you taunting and humiliating her one by one? Is that fun?"

"Also, Hadrian, let me tell you. You are a man whose wife is being bullied, so you must stand up properly to protect your wife. Do you understand?" Corwin's words made Hadrian's face look ugly for a moment, and he couldn't argue with it but could only listen quietly.

"Hadrian, Clara was once pregnant with your child. Did you suffer from amnesia? Because of your own actions and the loss of the child, now Clara can't give birth. Do you have to blame her? Is this fair?"

As soon as these words came out, everyone was shocked, and their pupils dilated.

Like a bomb exploding in waves in the ocean.

What? Ever been pregnant with a child?

Isn't Clara sick?

Hadrian turned to the side and looked at Clara in surprise. Why didn't he know the woman was pregnant with his child?

And she lost the child?

There were too many questions to ask in Hadrian's mind. He wanted to ask what was going on, but seeing Clara eating with a calm gaze and burying her head in silence, he couldn't ask anymore.
