Chapter 5 THE STRANGER TURNED OUT TO BE MY BOSS

We sat by the waiting area and watched as interviewers walked into an office. They had now settled down and requested that we take turns to enter into the office to be interviewed. I was the sixth and the last person on the queue and after so many nervous minutes of waiting, it finally got to my turn.

"Miss Alexandra Smith" one of the workers called out.

"I'm here" I lifted my hands to the air briefly and straightened out my blazers, I felt it must have rumpled due to long hours of sitting down. As I walked in, I tried to put on my best appearance by not looking too serious and also not looking like a joke.

At the table were seated five interviewers among which two were male and the rest females. Opposite their table was a single seat which was obviously where I was going to seat. The guy in the middle seemed like the boss but he wasn't as hot as Luna had described, maybe it wasn't him, I waved the thought off.

"Miss Alexandra Smith right?" the guy who I had thought was the boss asked for clarification.

"yes" I nodded

"you can take your seat" he gestured at the chair opposite

"thanks" I sat down waiting for whatever question might come to me. The interview went on for minutes with me giving my best answers and with the look on their face, I could tell that they were impressed by my answers.

"Hmmmm" the guy smiled at me and nodded in affirmation as he looked at his colleagues to know their opinion.

"You can go outside and wait" one of the ladies said to me "thanks" I stood up and left

"phew" I heaved a sigh of relief when I had gotten out of the office. I was nervous during the interview but I did my best to suppress it and also my best to answer the questions and also give my own suggestions.

After a few minutes of waiting, "miss Alexandra Smith" my name was called again and I proceeded into the office and took my seat.

"having done your interview" the guy started, staring at me without batting an eyelid "I and my board members are truly impressed not only by your answers but also by your suggestions and your confidence" he looked at his board members

"therefore...." the other lady took over "you're hired, we feel you're the best person for the post of a secretary" her lips curved into a smile. Secretary? did she just say secretary? I had no idea that I was being interviewed for the post of a secretary, this must be a misunderstanding, I thought.

"You're surprised at that obviously, we made the public believe we ain't hiring for the post of a secretary because we intended to find the best person at this interview and we're glad someone like you showed up" he said and I nodded smiling

"You'd be the secretary to the boss" he added. The boss? the hot boss? I couldn't believe that! I couldn't wait to tell Luna what just happened, I only hoped that he'd be as hot as I had imagined.

"okay, thanks for hiring me" I smiled genuinely as I watched them walk out

"and, you'll start today" the guy informed me and I nodded.

"I'll show you around" the lady who ushered us in said to me, she held a straight face.

"okay" I said following her into the elevator. We stopped at the sixth floor and that was the last floor before the rooftop. The sixth floor was just as huge as both the first and second floor. She placed her card on a scanner immediately we alighted the elevator and it opened up. It sure meant that the sixth floor was out of reach to most people.

"This is the office of the boss, Mr Jeremy" she said pointing at the door before us and I only nodded as she spoke

"here's your desk" she pointed at the desk opposite Mr Jeremy's office. "Okay" I said dropping my bag on my new chair. I watched her as she knocked on Mr Jeremy's office door and waited patiently for his response.

"Come in" came a reply and she turned to me "let's go in" she said and I went in after her.

The office was magnificent, it seemed like a comfortable workplace and a comfortable sleeping place. At the edge was a huge desk where Mr Jeremy sat down, at the middle contained two couches and a glass table which held a flower vase.

"Good morning Mr Jeremy" she greeted, I looked to see his face but his face was buried in his laptop, so I couldn't quite make out if he was really handsome.

"the interview has ended and we've gotten you a secretary! She's Miss Alexandra Smith" she informed him and for the very first time, he looked up.

"What!?" my heart skipped beats. I was confused on what to do. My boss turned out to be the guy I thought I would never meet again, the guy I spent the night with at Lorena Hotel. For a second, I wished the ground would open up and swallow me. What was I going to do? I couldn't wish that he wouldn't remember me because he didn't seem to be suffering from memory loss! or maybe he was!

He looked up at me "Alexandra Smith?"

"ye....yea... yeah" I stuttered

"okay, then!" he turned to the lady "teach her the things she needs to know, I don't want any amateur skills" he focused his gaze on his computer. Did he not remember me? I questioned myself

"okay boss" she turned away

"and again...." Mr Jeremy added "I don't like the way you're dressed, does this look like a circus?" he asked me. What? did he just indirectly call me a clown? I looked at myself but I didn't see anything wrong with my dressing.

"I'll take care of that too" she replied "you may leave then"

"let's go" she said and we walked out.
