Chapter 4 Moving In To His House

She was startled by something tapping on her shoulder and when she woke up the most beautiful pair of ocean blue eyes were staring back at her.

"Why are you sleeping on the couch?"

"I was waiting for you to come and show me where to sleep and since you are late I decided to sleep here while waiting for you"

"Are you seriously asking me that kind of question? Aren't we legally married?"

"So I should sleep on the master bedroom? Forgive me but this is my first time coming to your house and I didn't see it fit for me to just do things without your permission. Besides we are still strangers to each other and I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable"

"Yes silly you are now my wife?" He said this while smirking sarcastically.

"Wait before you go. I want to ask you something"

"Go ahead"

"I know you married me for a reason. Come on tell me?"

Seeing how he was looking at her with impatient in his eyes, she started feeling really uncomfortable as he seemed to be reading through her mind.

She said with a trembling voice.

"You won't understand if I tell you. In fact you will hate me."

"Aren't we talking or what? Besides I also had my reasons for accepting to marry you. So spill it out."

His assistant Dan had already dug out her background and he only needed her to confirm what he already knows. In that way he will be sure that his new wife was interested in his money for some reason.

"My family adopted me and they treated me really badly. Yesterday they threw me out of the house and fired me from the company. I didn't even have anywhere to go. I want to work hard and be a better person in the future. My first reason for marrying you was to get a roof over my head and the second one is that I am a very good designer and I need your help to open a business of my own."

"I knew it was all about money." He sneered while curving his lips upwards

"You don't have to give me if you think I don't deserve it"

"Well you really don't deserve it, because all women who have come on to me were always interested in my money. But all the same I will give it to you because it is my duty as your husband to take care of you. Secondly you don't even know the huge favour you are doing to me for marrying me."

"While she thought that she was the one scheming in this arrangement, well they both had their own intentions. It only happened that she was the one who made the first move."

"But you have to convince me that you are capable of running a business before I decide on giving you the help that you need. Running a successful business is not a jock, so I would like to see what you can do first before I give you a hand"

"Thank you"

"Go freshen up and sleep, we will talk more tomorrow."

She climbed the stairs with weakness in her legs as she felt the intense stare that he was giving her back. The thought of sleeping with a stranger in the same bed couldn't let her breathe well.

She went to the bedroom and found that one closet was completely empty it is as if he knew that she would come this evening.

He instructed his helper to arrange his things on one closet and leave the other one empty .Wait a minute, did he just investigate her? No wonder he wasn't even surprised when she told him about her back ground. Emily thought.

Soon after bathing and changing in to her night gown which she had brought with her, she climbed on to the bed to try and catch some sleep. The door opened and he immediately asked.

"Sleeping without me?"

But she just kept quiet without talking pretending to be in a deep sleep, her heart was pounding so hard on her chest she could just hear the sound on her ears.so she thought that her best bet was to pretend that she was fast asleep and recoil herself in the far end of the bed. Oh....God this was going to be more difficult than she had originally imagined.

He just smirked softly and said "I know you can hear me."

He removed his clothes and after having his shower he climbed beside her and almost slept immediately when his head touched the pillow.

The day was not one of the best for Richard, he was damned tired and needed a good night sleep. Not even the stranger in his bed could distract his desire for a good sleep tonight.

Emily finally let her guard down and fell asleep too. She must have slept for a long time because when dawn came he had already left.

There was a note on the bedside table that was written by Richard

"Please make yourself at home.

"Val will be around to help you."

Although it will take her a while to get used to that kind of life, it felt amazing to finally be free of any worries. She immediately remembered that she didn't call Mira during the night and she must be worried about her.

She picked up her phone and dialed her number and on the second ring she picked it up with a worried voice.

"Where did you go all day? I have been worried about you. I even thought that the man kidnapped you. Did you two get married or did he stand you up?"

"You really don't mean well for me Mira, why so many questions? Anyway I am alright, better than you can ever imagine. Right now I am in his house as his legal wife. We talked yesterday and guess what he agreed to help me start my own business. That is why I want to spend time proving myself to him that I am capable."

"Did he touch you?"

"No"

"Why? You are both legally married"

"I guess we are still strangers and we don't feel anything towards each other. Although I can't deny it that he is very handsome and whenever he is near me my heart beats even faster."

"So what are you two waiting for? You are both adults and it is his obligation. Don't you want to feel all those emotions meant for women? This is one of the ways that you can use to keep him to your side forever, just give him a taste of yourself or better yet get pregnant for him and he will never let you go. A child will tie you to him for the rest of his life."

"No......No.....No that was never my intention at all, imagine me tricking him in to having his baby? That is so disgusting and I don't think that I can do that to him. What is important to me right now is that he has agreed to help me start the business and I am contented. I will let things flow the way fate wants them."
