What mattered at that moment was to know she had woken up and would get by. No one else will toy her again. It hurt to know the world had won the battle. They stabbed that innocent heart which won't live again unless she accepts to be like the world. Nothing else but pure feelings.
"Get out of my life. Don't even think about me, forget about my existence. Get out of here!" She yelled at him, earning the courage to see him go away.
"Please, Alice, let's talk about this," Gabriel begged, getting up.
"Get out of here! I hate you, I regret the day I looked at you, I regret the moment when I kissed you!" She expressed kicking him out of there.
"Alice, don't be a fool, let's talk." Gabriel continued, while Alice pushed him out of the house. He felt very guilty for turning an innocent human being into a wild person.
A story full of lies ended at the moment she closed the door on his face.
She didn't want to know about anyone else, so she ran to her room and closed the door and the world behind her.
Her hopeful day faded when she saw him once again and this time, to finish with the biggest lie that made her happy.
Maria and Rosa knew Alice needed time to heal her fragile heart. Alice would get ahead. They could bet it.
The night fell and the presence of Alexa had been brought home. Alexa had already been notified of the events of the day. Of course she was mad at her. It's incredible that Alice loved him enough to disobey her sister's words.
As soon as she arrived, she went upstairs to talk to her sister and ask her for an explanation but Maria stopped her, saying it was not the best moment to talk to her.
Crying all day had left her drained. She didn't even remember the last time she took care of herself. She tried to endure dizziness, nausea and the headache for a little longer but, she couldn't. Those symptoms had crossed limits.
Alice opened the door and walked downstairs without being aware of anything. Her thoughts were to find someone who could help her.
She couldn't have been more thankful when she saw her sister at the end of the stairs.
"Alexa..." Alice whispered, feeling she was about to fall down.
"Alice?" Alexa called her. She wanted to ask many questions but seeing her like that, she just thought of taking her into her arms.
"Please, help me."
Her pale skin alerted Alexa's heart. "That idiot!" expressed Alexa, thinking Gabriel had done something to her. "Rosa, call our doctor!"
Maria and Alexa moved quickly, taking Alice to her room, bringing alcohol to make her wake up. Eventually, Rosa came into the room helping them too.
"The doctor is coming," she informed the women in the room.
There was nothing they could do. Alice was sick. She was really sick and all of that, just for a man.
As time went by, Alexa's hate for Gabriel grew drastically and the doctor didn't seem to show up.
Finally, the doorbell rang. It had to be the doctor. Maria opened the door. A very young man came into the house looking for the person that had become his patient since then.
"Come with me, please, doctor." Maria almost begged.
In the room, everyone was looking at the door waiting for the doctor. A young man came in with no permission. Alexa and Rosa moved aside. Alexa knew very well the man that had come as a doctor.
"Ian!" said the older one.
"Alexa," Ian replied to let her know he had recognized her.
"What about the doctor?" She questioned him. Alexa was aware it hadn't been so long since he started his career.
"He couldn't make it, he had an important meeting and he sent me on his behalf. Don't worry; I do know what I am doing."
Alexa didn't trust him despite his words, but she preferred to have him there to not have anyone.
They couldn't help but stare at him and all the actions he was doing with Alice. His expressionless face worried them even more.
Second by second, Alice opened her eyes. In front of her, the last person she thought would be assisting her someday. She hadn't even opened her eyes well when she wanted to know what he was doing there.
"Ian?" She named him with no strength.
"Stay still, Alice. Help me finish this."
Alice stayed quiet. She couldn't believe Ian was there. He hadn't changed so much.
Finally, Ian backed up putting away his medical instruments. Then, he approached Alexa.
"There's nothing to worry about but it'd be better if a hospital could check her up." He reported, crestfallen.
"I don't understand." Alexa accepted.
"Alice is pregnant." He said, disappointed. No one there had realized that the girl he was checking up, had become his light from the mere instant he arrived in the country.
"You need to take her to check her out. Excuse me, I have to go." He expressed unprofessional.
Rosa was the only one in that room that came back to her senses to accompany the doctor downstairs. Even though, she felt her heart heavy.
Alexa sat down on the bed. Alice just continued crying in silence. Maria seemed to be the only one to be aware of the situation.
"How could you...?" Alexa asked, feeling betrayed. She couldn't believe her little sister was pregnant with the baby of the man who had hurt her the most. "Are you insane?!"
"Haven't you made a mistake? Are you so pure to judge me?!" Alice talked back.
"That's enough, Alexa," Maria cut them off. "What did you expect her to do when Gabriel was the only one who made her feel good in her own skin?! You weren't there for her."
The straightforward words that Maria had said, stabbed the heart of Alexa. She just wanted to find the guilty one, when truly she had been the only one who put her sister on the edge, making her cling to a man.
Alice was still crying bitterly. Maria, feeling herself like a mom, went to Alice and offered a warm hug. Alexa couldn't help but feel guilty.
"I'm here, Alice. You can count on me, my dear angel." Maria said, petting Alice's hair.
It was a matter of time for Alexa to realize her sister would need her forever. Alexa felt betrayed and... guilty. She loved her sister and nothing would change that. She was expecting a baby. The blessing of that family even if they could not see that.
Alice couldn't believe how her dreams had broken with that confession.
Of course, she wasn't thinking about giving up on her baby but... It was too much for her to think about now. That was her baby, just hers, and like that, she would raise him or her.
Days went by, Alice couldn't see beyond her broken dreams. She was pregnant. There was no doubt. A new challenge she had to overcome. Alice made a mistake and Alexa accepted that. In the end, she was a human being trying to survive. Of course, her older sister wouldn't let her drift like he did.
"How have you been feeling?" Her sister asked Alice, leaning against the door frame.
"Yes, I've been doing well." Alice put down the book she was reading.
"Have you eaten well?" The tone of voice Alexa used made Alice realize she was no longer mad at her.
Alice nodded. Her cuteness made Alexa sit down beside her. She was still an innocent girl. Finally, she was going to talk to her.
"Alice, I'll support you because from now on, we're going to raise that baby. Count on me, count on me forever. You too, baby angel," Alexa smiled, putting her hand on Alice's belly. A belly that will get bigger and bigger sooner or later.
"Alexa," Alice called to her, looking into her eyes. She was not joking. Her tears fell from her eyes again and, feeling her support, Alice hugged her older sister.
Alexa giggled. "That baby will live well, all of us are going to raise him or her, you're going to become the doctor you always wanted to be. I swear it."
"I can't be more thankful. I don't know how to pay you."
"Of course you know. Alice, I'll have been pain off when you become that ever dreamed doctor you wanted to be since you was a child and played with my father that his was sick and you came to rescue him, I'll have been payed off when that baby of yours call you mom and call me aunt." Alice reassured her.
With teary eyes, Alice looked at her. The moment she was waiting to talk about what had been going on in her thoughts had come.
"Alexa?" asked the younger.
"Tell me."
"I want to start a new life with this baby. I don't want to raise him or her here. Let's move to the United States. I've planned everything."
Alexa was speechless. She couldn't believe how brave and diligent her sister was.
A big smile was drawn on Alexa's face. Of course, they would move to wherever she wanted. Alice was going to be fine and her baby too and, of course, Alexa would be there forever. She was all Alice had, she had hurt her enough. It was the right moment to start changing everything for the best.
