Chapter 5 The Fire-Breathing Wolfless Wolf

Ralph

"Are you sure, Alpha?" Cayden asked, looking at me like I was insane.

"It's never happened before," Ryder commented.

I dug my claws into the wooden table and picked it up, throwing it across the room. It smashed into the wall and broke into pieces.

"You should relax, Alpha." Cayden made another comment.

"Do I look insane to you?!"

They shook their heads.

I was so confused. I lost my chance with my mate 70 years ago. Why were things different? Why was I feeling an even stronger bond with this strange wolf that could shoot balls of fire and climb walls?

"What do you think she is, Ryder?" Cayden asked.

Ryder paused. He went to the shelves of the library and searched for a book. Finding it, he picked it up and returned to us.

"Fire, wolfsbane, and silver weaken wolves. Fire comes from dragons and from the intensity of heat described it was dragon fire which should instantly kill a wolf."

"Then how is it her strength?" Cayden enquired.

Ryder picked an apple and bit through it.

"Forget that! Someone explain what's happening to me?!" I was bulging in frustration and could explode at any time.

"I wanted to ask the same thing," the raven-haired Daphne said, walking in.

She was slimmer than most wolves but she was a Delta-Promoted-Gamma with excellent speed. She was a skilled warrior as well and the perfect pick for my gamma. She had orange cat-like eyes and a fierce personality. She didn't look girly like most wolverines.

"The Alpha says he has a second mate," Cayden said.

She froze. "Is that possible?"

"That's what I want to know?!"

Daphne looked worried. "Give the Alpha some water. He doesn't look too good."

"I don't need water. I need a solution!"

Ryder threw the remains of the apple away. "Says here that only one in a million wolves have the opportunity to get another mate." Ryder closed the book. "It looks like it is, Alpha."

Fear entered me. Wasn't this Leia happening all over again? No, I had to do something about it.

"So, the fire-breathing wolfless wolf is the Alpha's mate? I don't believe it!" Daphne threw her hands up.

Cayden raised his eyebrows. "What do you mean she's wolfless? How could she climb the 50m tall tree you said she did."

"It can only mean one thing," Ryder said, walking away from the shelves of books.

"What's that?" I asked.

"She's a hybrid."

Akira

I couldn't stop thinking about the Alpha. My body and my wolf were crying out to him. But I had to stand strong. I wished the moon goddess could explain things to me but I was apparently on my own.

At times, I tried talking to my wolf but it would run to hide behind my dragon. If I tried to talk to my dragon, it would put up attitude and ignore me. Two beasts with different characters were in me, and I was a completely different person.

The door opened. I didn't check who came in but I picked up a biting and spicy cardamom smell. The Alpha stood there. And he was staring again.

It made me uncomfortable. When he noticed this, he sat beside a chair that was closest to me. I stood by the window, trying my best to ignore him but my eyes kept tracing back to him.

"You'll answer my every question. Got it?" I didn't reply. I was under no obligation to answer him. But from the looks of it, I was under his captivity.

"Got it?!" I sat on the bed which was farther from him and nodded. "Can't you speak?"

"Yes," I gave him what he wanted.

His frown reduced and he paused on hearing my voice. There was a glimmer in his eyes but it disappeared in an instant.

"Who are you?" His powerful aura made me fear him. I couldn't look into his eyes and I dared not say no to his questions. But was I meant to answer that? "You didn't answer," he said again.

He tightened his grip on the chair as if trying to stop himself from pouncing on me.

"I'm Akira." There was that sparkly glimmer in his eyes again.

He cleared his throat. "Which pack are you from?"

"I-I don't have a pack."

"Were you kicked out?" There was no sympathy in his voice when he said that, even though it sounded as if it wanted to come out.

"My pack doesn't exist... anymore."

He relaxed on the chair. I looked up to meet his staring emerald eyes. D**m, I just wanted to sit on his lap and let him mouth me.

"Glowpaw?"

"Yes, it was destroyed by dragons."

I didn't want to go on with the discussion. We were getting to the dragon part and I was not ready to talk about what happened to me there.

"That was two years ago. What happened to you after?"

"I escaped."

"You're lying." He stood up and came closer to me. How did he know that? Only mates could feel each other's emotions and tell if they were lying. Did he... feel something too?

"I..."

"Tell me. I don't want to force you."

Well, if he could feel my emotions then he must know that I'm feeling terrible right now. Yet he still carried on.

"I can't." I covered my mouth, preventing myself from crying.

The Alpha stopped. He wanted to comfort me straight away but something stopped him and he stepped back.

"You don't have to give details. Narrate what happened."

I cleaned my face and took a deep breath. "I-I was taken by dragons. I was made a slave in a brothel..."

"It's okay." He made me stop and returned to his seat.

I thanked the goddess I didn't have to go further than that because I couldn't give him more. No one must know that the Dragon Lord was my mate and I was killed by him. I didn't trust them.

I had to be very careful. Besides, it looked like the Alpha was my mate as well. Which I still didn't understand.

"Your father?" he asked, putting his left leg over his right leg.

"I-I don't know."

"One more lie and I'm taking you to the torture room." I gulped. "Alpha Logan would never keep a wolfless wolf in his pack. Why were you still there?"

"I don't know."

He closed his eyes. "I'm giving you one more chance. Who is your father and why were you still kept there?"

"I said I don't know!"

My father had talked into my brain so much that he made sure I never told anyone I was his daughter. It was still in effect on me even after he had died.

He stood up and grabbed my hand harshly. He dragged me out of the room, in the eyes of every wolf around. I tried to free myself but he didn't let go. I was afraid to use fire on him because I didn't want to hurt him.

Yet, he was doing the exact opposite to me. He took me into a room that was coated in iron and pushed me inside, locking the door. There was another wolf in the room apart from us.

The wolf had a low cut that fitted him. He had dim hazel eyes. He was heavily built and very muscular. A blow from him would surely stun the Alpha for a second. There was no hair on his face unlike the Alpha with his beard and goatee. He was very proficient.

He was young, in his early twenties, and greatly resembled Brad Pitt.

"Stay back, Cayden." The Alpha sat me on the chair and hit the table. "Look around you. What do you see?"

When I did, I saw dead bodies littered around the floor like debris. My stomach knotted and any food that was left inside me wanted out.

"Now, you will tell me who your father is."

Ralph

"Tell me, Akira."

"I don't know."

"You shouldn't have said that," Cayden said to Akira from behind us.

"Shut up, Cayden."

Fear shined in Akira's eyes. Normally, I loved seeing fear in the eyes of my captives but not in her. I ignored what my feelings or my wolf thought and picked a sword.

I walked up to her and pointed the sword at her face. She didn't take her eyes off it the moment I picked it.

"Tell me or I'll tear your nose off."

"I can't tell you! I'm sorry."

"You will."

"I will not. Do your worst."

I hissed. I hated people daring me and questioning my abilities.

Hunter was already hating me and I didn't blame him for that.

"Well, I'm sorry for your nose."

I raised the sword to pierce it into two. Akira closed her eyes, awaiting the pain but instead, she heard the sword drop from my hand.

"F**k!" I hit the iron wall and punctured it, making a dent in it.

"I can't do it!" I hit the wall again and made another dent.

"Should I do it, Alpha?"

I looked at him. If glares could kill, my Beta would be dead.

"Touch her and you die."

I walked up to her and hit my hand on the table. But she didn't shake. She had some grit.

"You must tell me!"

The door of the room opened and Ryder, walked in, breathing heavily.

"Alpha... we're under attack!"
