Chapter 5 What just happened

Lisa's POV

"Stop right there." A familiar voice ordered and I stopped immediately and turned back. It was Kate, she was walking towards me.

"Hey,"

"I'm doing great and you?" She asked with a smile.

"Yeah, I'm doing great." I answered.

"You were laughing with that bike man, is he your uncle or somehow related to you?" She asked and I blinked.

"We're not related. He said something funny and I laughed." I answered.

Just then, a car stopped and Richard alighted from the car and looked at us. I was just staring at him. I realized that I didn't notice how handsome he looked because he almost made my life miserable.

He just passed us as if we were not there, I sighed in relief as we walked into the gate.

"He's so pompous." Kate complained about keeping her phone in her bag.

"Maybe, I don't know lol." I simply said without a smile.

"He couldn't even say 'Hi' or 'Hey', I was even expecting him to thank me personally for coming to see him in the hospital yesterday." She grumbled in frustration.

I chuckled and walked ahead of her to the class. "Anna's coming back in two weeks." Desmond shouted and the class became quiet. I looked at Richard, there was no expression on his face. I was certain he didn't want her to come.

"There's going to be a surprise test, the principal wants to give the dull students a private tutor." Mrs Mary said as she walked into the class.

The whole class fixed their gaze on Richard when she said 'Dull Students'

Richard became embarrassed. "Why are y'all looking at me?"

Everyone ignored him.

"So pack all your bags outside and settle down, remember when you're inside the class, you're not permitted to go outside because of the test." She said with a smile as they walked out of the class with their bags.

I picked my bag and walked to the front of the class when she called me. "Lisa" I turned to look at her and she smiled at me. "Will you like to write the test? The principal said you can decide not to write the test because you're a new student."

I smiled. "I'll write it ma'am." I replied and dropped my bag outside the class.

I walked into the class with my pen and sat down. She shared the Question papers and I scanned through the questions, they were all simple.

I did it hurriedly and dropped my pen on my desk. "Can I submit now?" I asked politely and she seemed to look surprised at how quick I finished.

"You're not done, are you?" She asked in a low-piqued voice and I smiled.

I stood up and walked to her, I looked at Richard, immediately our eyes met each other, he closed his eyes and I chuckled quietly and walked out of the class after handing her the paper.

Two female juniors were playing in the corridor and walked towards me when they saw me.

"Senior Lisa, I'm Rita and my friend is Mandy." One of the girls said and I smiled.

"How are you?" I asked.

"We're fine." They chorused.

"That's great to hear." I replied.

"We like you." Mandy said and a smile showed on my face, I was excited that the juniors already liked me.

"Thanks."

"But we're scared, we heard Senior Anna would be coming back in two weeks' time." Rita said. I could sense the fear in her voice.

"Who's Anna?" I asked.

"You'll meet her. She's coming back to contest for the senior prefect girl, please I'm sure my classmates and the juniors will vote for you." Rita answered.

"I don't want issues with Anna and I don't feel like registering for the senior prefect position." I said and they frowned.

"Anna used to beat all female juniors for no reason before she went on a trip to France, she's a rich girl and that's why she's able to do all these things without the school knowing."

"Fine, I'll register for the Senior prefect position today," I said without enthusiasm. Of course, I wouldn't register for anything, who liked trouble? I wasn't going to endanger myself for some bunch of kids.

I was already poor and adding their issues to my problem would only make me stressed up. They smiled and hugged me. I felt for them as they returned to their classes.

I wondered how Richard was comfortable dating Anna. I walked into the class, my classmates were all staring at me except Richard.

"Baby girl." Louisa walked up to me with a smile as I sat down. It was the first time I was talking with her so I didn't even know what to say next. I kept mute. "You probably know my name already." She said with a smirk and we chuckled.

"Yeah, I do." I replied and emptied the books from my bag into my locker.

"So huh, Mrs Mary asked who we should nominate as our female senior prefect and we ....."

I cut in immediately. "And you also need me to nominate someone right? Well, I'll go with whoever the class nominated." I said and she stood up and jumped up on her feet.

"Hurray, she's agreed." She screamed and my classmates giggled as they ran out of the class to give the feedback to Mrs Mary.

I didn't even know what she meant by I agreed?

Kate walked up to me with tears in her eyes and I was shocked. "What have you done?" She asked as I looked at her with a quizzed expression.

I was totally confused. "I didn't do anything." I answered by defending myself.

"You didn't do anything, you're a bad friend and a betrayal." She insulted me and I stood up shocked.

"What's the meaning of this?" I was still surprised.

Before I could say anything, she slapped me on my face and I held my face in shock.

Richard stood up immediately from his face and dragged her by the hair. "You bitch, she did nothing to you, she didn't know and that was why she agreed with Louisa, next time that you slap the person I love, I swear I'm going to kill you."

He said and regretted the last sentence, he walked out of the class without looking in my direction.

His words hit me hard again as Kate glared at me and walked out of the class angrily.

Few minutes later he walked in and stared at me. "What have you done to me?"
