Chapter 7 Fired

Episode Six.

The room was as silent as a graveyard. It was sure that if a pin fell, one would hear the sound that comes with it. The directors were all shifting in their seats as they were being questioned by Kiara.

"Mr. Adams, the amount that comes in here is different from the amount of contract we signed, which brings us to a conclusion that we are supposed to have more than that. Can you please explain why the amount is lesser?" she said, facing the so-called Adams.

A chubby man with black-rimmed glasses looked up. His hands were clammy as beads of sweat formed on his head. He had not expected the boss lady to see that mistake. He cleared his throat, disrupting the silence before looking at her eyes. He looked down immediately when their eyes met. The look in her eyes could scare up the dead and bring him back to life.

"Is there something wrong with your ability to speak, Mr. Adams?" Kiara questioned again.

His hands started shaking under the table. He had no idea what to say to their boss. And one thing was for sure, she was going to question him until he found something to say.

"If Mr. Adams has nothing to say, then would you kindly step out of the meeting? Rebecca," she called out to her assistant. Kindly buy out the shares he has in this company. And if he is having a problem selling it, call the lawyer." Kiara said, turning her head back to the documents in front of her.

Immediately, a loud bang could be heard in the meeting room.

"Kiara, this was not how we started! Remember how you came begging me those days when you wanted to open this place. You just can't remove me now..."Mr Adams shouted before he was cut off by kiara.

"First of all Mr Adams, you have no right in saying how I run my company, but if you want to hear from me, then you'll hear. When I came to meet you, we had an argument which I did my part very well. I did not expect that putting you in the position of my financial director would make my money grow legs and disappear." she said in a stern voice.

Her voice sent shivers to the heart of so many I'm seated with. She had faced the document she was working on when she raised her hand abruptly.

"Mr Adams, I'm giving you 24 hours to sell your shares to me. If your lawyer fails to contact us before then, expect to meet me in the court." she said before clearing her throat.

With all eyes on him and a clenched fist, Mr. Adams carried his file, taking large strides to the door. He swore in his heart, for her to embarrass him like this in front of everybody. She was going to pay dearly for it, he was sure of it.

The meeting room was silent after the door banging of Mr. Adams. Everyone's eyes went back to the boss lady whose eyes were focused heavily on the document she was reading. After some minutes of intense breathing, she looked up at them one after the other.

During this process, the heartbeat of each of them could be heard from within.

"Any question?" Kiara said after some minutes of intense staring.

The directors all looked at each other, surprised at the change of plans. Soft murmurs could be heard between the directors, bowing their heads to speak whatever they wanted to say to each other.

Kiara cleared her throat suddenly, standing up from the chair she was seating on.

"In the absence of any, that would be all for today,." she said as she packed the document in front of her.

She cat-walked out of the table immediately, stopping when she was almost at the door.

"And to you all that passed this meeting and are still directors, it would be better for you if you stop whatsoever bad things you know you are going to yourself before next week. Have a nice day ladies and gentlemen," she said before walking out on them.

The directors took a deep breath as she walked out of the office. That lady was a she-devil, most of them thought in their minds. They all looked at each other, not able to say anything to one another. They packed their files before walking out of the hall one after the other.

Kiara walked to the office, opening the door and dumping the files on her table immediately. She collapsed into the chair, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes. She was tired of all these people wearing her out, trying to trample on her just because she was a female. She knows who she has messed with but she has no care for that. All she needed was to watch her back now. She was making more enemies than friends and she needed to be careful about that.

"But does it matter?" she murmured to herself.

"At the end of the day, they are all enemies no matter how they do," she said, a small grin plastered to her face.

She remembered all she had to drop down before she could get this company. Her body, her soul, her heart, if it was not for the grace of God, her conscience would have been stolen. Now she has worked her ass off for it and an idiot is trying to ruin it. She, Kiara Gilligan, would make sure to ruin every one of that kind before they get to her.

She clenched her jaw tightly before opening her eyes. She glanced through the room before going to the door and locking it at the back. She ruffled through her bag, bringing out her phone and tapping some number in it. After a few rings, someone picked the phone and a male voice resounded from the other side.

"It's me again. I need your help." she said through the phone with a curled fist.
